From the OpenTable editors: Chef Johnny Curiel grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, and started washing dishes in his dad’s restaurant at age 14. Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

We invite guests to relax in a space accented by reclaimed wood, — sourced from the oldest building in Denver — clay-inspired wall treatment, an abundance of plants that evoke the feeling of Mexico City, and artisan finds from Johnny’s home state of Guadalajara.

    Fantastic dining experience! Server was helpful, kind, and attentive. Was there to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. Since no dessert menu, we were brought out a special drink for a toast. Pacing was excellent, always had a dish to eat. Water constantly refilled and new silverware/dishes brought out. One vegetarian in our group and the three vegetarian dishes on the menu were spaced out throughout the meal so always had something to eat, very thoughtful!

    One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. We started with the avocado margarita, which was outstanding. Then we moved on to the guacamole topped with chimichurri and the camote asado. Both incredibly unique and complex with beautiful plating. Next was the Callo de Hacha (scallops) which were perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and completely blew us away. We finished with the enmoladas and the NY strip which continued to top each previous dish. I would come back for any of these dishes on their own, but the combination (along with best-in-class service) made for one of the most special dining experiences I’ve encountered in Colorado. 10/10

    One of the best meals I have had in Denver in FOREVER! the food was delicious, the staff was funny, knowledgeable and attentive, the overall vibe inside the restaurant was quaint and relaxed while still managing to feel very upscale and we couldn't have asked for anything more! Chef Andy was fantastic and Ryan was so helpful. Can't recommend this restaurant enough!

    This is our second time going and it was just as amazing as the first. William and Rico took care of us at the chefs counter. We had wonderful conversations with them and learned a lot of the ins and outs of the restaurant. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but our personal favorites are the sweet potato(save it for your dessert!), the frijoles, and the steak!
