From the OpenTable editors: Chef Johnny Curiel grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, and started washing dishes in his dad’s restaurant at age 14. Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

We invite guests to relax in a space accented by reclaimed wood, — sourced from the oldest building in Denver — clay-inspired wall treatment, an abundance of plants that evoke the feeling of Mexico City, and artisan finds from Johnny’s home state of Guadalajara.

    I can for sure say we would go again, Alot more casual than other Michelin restaurants but service and food were good as well. Our course was perfectly paced except the Halibut where we were then told it was overcooked, but the chef gave us a lil sum sum nice for us as a sorry. Which was for one did not need at all being able to take a breath in and relax was great and felt at home. Would say listen to the waiter on favorites but don't be shy to be adventurous anything is a great choice on this menu. 9.2/10. Thank you for the great visit look forward to taking my mother one day.

    Best restaurant I’ve been so far. Food was amazing, service on point but the best was the Camote Asado even more than the NY Strip Al Arriero. Every dish was as good as the last one, would definitely coming back soon. Treat yourself with a Avocado Margarita, I had mine as a mocktail and it was DELICIOUS!

    The food at Alma Fonda Fina is so incredible and the staff is just as amazing. It’s a small spot, reservations can be hard to get but, don’t be afraid to email them they are plenty willing to work with you. If you live in Denver or are planning to visit you have to have it on your list. We first went before they earned the Michelin star and I was not surprised at all to hear about it when they were awarded it. Bar seating is fun and interactive where you can really see the dishes come to life and they are interactive, willing to answer any question. 12/10 experience, order the sweet potato appetizer you will not regret it. Truly a gem of a restaurant.

    Our experience was outstanding. We went for my birthday and sat at the chef’s table. We ordered everything the chef recommended and it was all out of this world. This is by far the best restaurant in Denver and we’ve been to all of the other Michelin rated spots. The value for what you get is also great - we had 4 drinks, 5 smaller plates and an entree for around $200 for two of us. We’re already planning a return!
