Love this place, but the food took almost an hour to get. The place was not busy, so it was a bit disappointing. Food was great, which made up for it a bit.
We had 7:30 reservations and left at 9:00 without receiving our main dishes. Waitress told us it was their off-season and things are generally slower. There was no air conditioning in the entire restaurant and no fans or air moving at all. If the hostess would have told us we would have been seated outside where it was cooler (91 degrees outside) and there was at least some air moving. This was our second and last time dining here. Horrible experience. Very disappointed that they didn’t seem to care that we were unhappy about our experience but the waitress did say they would comp the ford that we never received...thank you very much, I hope I wouldn’t have been charged for something that we never got to eat because of slow and bad service.
The menu and food quality at Alebrije Bistro Mexico are outstanding - "not the typical Mexican food" that some might expect. Innovative offerings, well-prepared, and beautifully served. Americans think that "traditional" Mexican food includes tortilla chips, red sauce, and either gooey or crunchy versions of various qualities similar to what is sold at Taco Bell. Alebrije is far superior, in that their offerings are truly exceptional and "Mexican gourmet," which is interesting to many. However, we witnessed more than one party enter the restaurant, take a look at the menu, then leave; it wasn't what they were looking for. Fine, but too bad for them. What we experienced was Mexican fine cuisine in very pleasant surroundings.
Although there was not much of atmosphere the food and service more than made up for this. Delicious colourful plates served by happy and accommodating staff. Would recommend to others and would return.
Great nachos and specialty margaritas.
The food s always delicious..... The cocktails amazing, and this night they had a wonderful guitarist!
We were there for restaurant week and had their 4 course meal. The flavors and preparations were well done. Not traditional Mexican cuisine and it was a culinary experience.
This is authentic Mexican cuisine from the Capital at it’s finest. One of my favorite go-to restaurant of any cuisine in the Coachella Valley.
We went for restaurant week. The four course menu was delicious and portions were large. The steak was perfectly cooked. The house margaritas were awesome.
They were very accommodating by saving us a table on the patio where there would be room for our Giant Breed. Service was great. Food was amazing and creative! Definitely not, your typical Mexican food. We were there for dinner during Restaurant week but will be going back to experience the rest of the menu.
Really good food. Fantastic cocktails they have a really good bartender! Love the appetizers delicious cauliflower. And a very good quest dip with fresh tortillas
We were looking forward to a non-traditional Mexican meal and we’re curious about this restaurant and it’s Mexico City bistro-style food. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing and definitely not worth recommending. Instead of the food being interesting or flavorful it is just odd and not good. The tortilla soup was served cold. The sea bass ceviche was served in uncut chunks in a bizarre and flavorless purple sauce with not a hint of lime juice. The flatbread was just a tortilla with pinto beans and pieces of chicken. And the Mexican wine was pretty hideous.
Fun and lively place. Live music adds to the ambiance. Good food, good service.
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
The food was good, but not great, not what I expected for the price
Amazing food and service. The queso fundido is the best I've had in the US.
Love Alebrije Bistro. Unique dishes one can only think come from the heart of Mexico culinary scene. This is not your typical americanized mexican fare. Rather, it is gourmet and crafted with care. We have dined several times and never disappoints. Only comment (not a critical one but something that has been a consistent "frown") is how long it takes for drinks to arrive at the table once ordered. Even when ordered at the time entrees were delivered, plates were finished by the time they arrived. other than that, wonderful addition to our dining scene downtown.
A neighbor and I came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place was empty and we waited for someone to appear from the back. So glad they did. The food was delicious and the margarita was perfect. The place is very clean, nice colorful artwork on the walls and the dining room was adorned with modern tables and chairs with a pop of color as well. We had the guacamole with chips along with an array of different tacos. There was a nice Mexican Chardonnay for $12 per glass that was really nice as well. The location is at a busy intersection at Rt. 111 and Tachevah. I hope they do well there as the food and drink were spot on. We’ll be back...
Worst food of the whole trip. Tasteless and SO expensive. DO NOT GO HERE
What a wonderful experience this was. First and foremost the food was simply amazing. We had a group of six so we had several different dishes. The steak and the scallops were our favorite. The Mahi Mahi was also very fresh and good.
The cocktails were creative and tasty. They also had an extensive list of tequilas and mezcal to name a few.
Service was good. The ambiance is semi open air and on the street.
Great happy hour! Limited dinner menu though! Enjoyed drinks and the six pack street tacos which included 2 beef, pork and fish tacos! The Fajitas on happy hour were good
This is one of PS hidden gems!!
The food is unique and wonderful flavors!
Service is great and nice!
Don’t miss out!
Alebrije was wonderful! Owner, Alex was warm, welcoming and so fun to talk to. Don’t miss the Queso Fundido with shrimp! The Mezcal selection was impressive and his recommendations were spot on. We will be back!
The food was delicious and the Servers were fantastic! Thank Jose for making our meal a wonderful experience.
If you are looking for a quiet gem this is the place!!! The harp music welcomed us, the staff was fantastic and made great recommendations and the food was spectacular! Everything we had was wonderfully prepared and unique. This is not your run-of-the mill Mexican place. This is great food in a comfortable environment with great staff attention! Perfection. A new favorite!
Excellent food and a unique atmosphere. Had a wonderful evening.
I am a native Californian and love Mexican food, this was the best Mexican food I have ever had, the Pork was perfect and my wife loved the Scallops. We also had the Octopus appetizer and the beet salad, both were memorable. One of the best parts was they had a large wine list from Mexico and we had a Cab from Baja, delicious and not that expensive. I would highly recommend this restaurant but the plates are small and a little expensive, but that won't keep me from coming back.
Really delicious, creative and authentic Mexico City cuisine in a chic atmosphere. The owner Alex is a consummate front of the house man that is great about explaining the dishes and inventive cocktails and making you feel so welcome. They offer Mexican wines, innovative cocktails and margaritas. Food is bold in flavors and I crave their suckling pig. The service staff is always friendly and possess a "your are the guest" attitude. Alebrije is really a gem in the Desert.
Our dinner was marvellous. We started with the Queso Fundido, the poblano soup, and the beet salad. Our entree was the Mahi fish special, which was cooked to perfection and delicious. My husband and I shared everything and we couldn’t have been more content.
It was our 8th time at this restaurant but certainly not the best. Menu has changed and they removed ceviche which was a big hit for us. Plates used to be well balanced and now the food is swimming in the sauce, portions have increased not making the meal balanced. We will wait for a new chef to go back or the current one to improve.
Cocktails not as great as before neither and service was ok but not great
I was looking forward to trying out this restaurant for its regional Mexican Dishes , not your tacos and enchiladas smothered with cheese and salsa. Unfortunately, the food portions were minimal it took about 30 minutes to get our food. The flavors were there but you got very small portions for the cost$$$$!
Great service, delicious food and great ambiance. The owner shook and hugged everyone in our party in our way out. What an awesome guy & great food.
Poblano soup and octopus were amazing. Both our cocktails excellent. Staff was very friendly.
We enjoy this exceptional, rarely found outside Mexico City, fine dining experience every time we visit the desert. Highly recommend!
We love this place. Outstanding upscale tastes of Mexico City. Our favorite in PS.
Slow service. Food is nothing special.
We absolutely loved our dinner! Truly delicious, interesting, and beautifully presented. Plus, as it was Valentines Day they gave me a rose and a balloon. So sweet! The staff were friendly and professional. Really, we couldn’t have asked for more.
Valentine's Day was about the 5th time I've be to Alebrije, and it seems to get better on each visit. Excellent food, great service, and personal attention by management - all of which leads to a very pleasant evening.
