Al dente proprietor Kendra Riccio and Executive Chef Oscar Cardenas present an extensive menu of pastas with homemade sauces, beef, veal, and fresh seafood entrées for lunch and dinner in a casual fine dining atmosphere. Located on historic Palm Canyon Drive, downtown Palm Springs, within walking distance to major hotels, convention center, shopping and casinos.
This food was average at best. There are many italian restaurants in Palm Springs that are much better. The service was like what you would expect at Denny's. The main courses arrived minutes after ordering, just after the first glass of wine. The salad was forgotten and no bread was served. We rejected the main course until after the salad and some bread. The ambiance is very good, the service was not good and the food was so so. We can not recommend this place
Staff was generally inattentive.
We had wanted to order a bottle of wine with our meal, but they were difficult to track down.
When they did come to the table, they were rushed and in a hurry to remove plates even though we were still eating.
Food quality was average.
We had a 7:45 reservation and didn’t get seated until almost 9.
The food was excellent and the waiter's good humor and attentive service added to the enjoyable dining experience.
Solid place for some upscale dining! Sat outside and was very pleased with my meal!
Started out with quick service, but the time between appetizers and meal was too long. Food was excellent!
We had stopped going to Al Dente about a year ago. We are locals and even WITH a reservation, they were making us wait for more than 30 minutes for our table
When I walked in, we were 12 minutes early. The person at the door told us it would be “about 30 minutes”. I told him that if we did not have a table on or before our reservation (15 min). We would leave immediately and never return.
They gave us a table at our exact time.
The food and service was excellent as before. But if they can’t learn to sit people at their proper time, then they will just continue to lose business
The service was prompt and friendly. The portions were generous and all food items, incl. desserts, tasted great -- the pasta was indeed al dente! Finally, the prices were reasonable, so great value. We will probably be back.
Went with my husband for our wedding anniversary. Our server, Jeff, was so personable and helpful. The food was delicious! I highly recommend Al Dente and plan on going back again!
Good food. Not very busy for a Sat. Night.
Waitstaff and service were great and the food was very good. They allow you to bring your own wine which is wonderful
We were a party of 6. I made the reservation on Open Table shortly before we arrived. We were greeted very nicely, seated at a table good for conversation and had a wonderful waiter. All the staff was kind and helpful. My pasta dish, quattro formaggio, was so good I am tempted to return to Palm Springs just to order it again.
From entrance to exit every detail was excellent. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. Service was fantastic, we will be coming back soon
We always enjoy Al Dente
Nice little restaurant near the Palm Springs theater. Ate dinner here before the musical Camelot and people were friendly, service good. Food good, nothing spectacular but good choice if you are attending a play or musical. Theater is a 2 minute walk from restaurant.
We were here in 1996 with friends to celebrate our anniversary and returned this year with many of the same friends to celebrate yet another anniversary. Everyone in our group of nine enjoyed delicious food and excellent service, set in a charming outdoor setting. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend this restaurant to others looking for a great meal at a reasonable price.
Warm welcome. Good food. Will be back.
First time at this restaurant. Food excellent. Pasta cooked just right. Portions very large. one criticism is the bread. It need to be crustier and not so much like a tastless corn bread. the good news was we didn't eat it. Less calories. Will return.
We love this place and come here every time we are in Palm Springs. We love garlic and we love this Restaurant 😎😎😎😎
Great local spot that serves consistently good Italian food.
Service is always attentive. Easy to park in the area.
Excellent food and service
A dependable dining experience. Food is delicious, service is thoughtful and an excellent value.
We practically had the restaurant to ourselves so the service was exemplary. The wait staff is very welcoming. The food is terrific.
Always happy with our experience at Al Dente
Loved sitting in a booth overlooking the front patio and Palm Canyon foot traffic. Great service, very good food. Will definitely return.
We always enjoy Al Dente. Romantic, classic, delicious. And Gonsalvo was delightful. Highly recommended, especially for dinner for two.
Prices were much higher than their online menu, and average food at best. The bread was dry and tasteless...The decor was very dated, which is not important if the food and value were great, and they were not
We opted for the Special Restaurant Week menu. Food was very good but a little expensive compared to main menu dishes.
Started out with a nice table, but only table without a lite candle. Complimentary bread and bruschetta wonderful, bottle of wine good, mixup on salad orders, pesto dish was not as described and entrees were mediocre, tiramisu not authentic and disappointing.
Solid food, excellent service and nice ambiance. We had a large group and 3 babies. They were very accommodating and had a section for us on the patio that was semi private. Would definitely go back when in town.
Consistently good food in a good venue. I’m very busy evenings the service can be a bit spotty as the servers run around the dining room.
Every dish was amazing. We had almost everything on the menu and each item was perfectly prepared. Large portions.
Good as always. QUIET NIGHT MADE IT VERY PLEASANT. Love the Lobster ravioli
I visit PS about 4 times a year and I save my "big meal" for Al Dente. It's very gratifying to walk in and to be told "It's so nice to see you again!" by more than one person. We're very well cared-for when dining at Al Dente. We always have the penne quattro fromaggio, which has never disappointed us. This time we simply did soup (a cauliflower puree), salad (a special salad with gorgonzola and walnuts) and pasta. Past visits we've also enjoyed the mushroom chicken, chicken marsala and salmon, all of which were fantastic. When the weather is nice we'll sit on the patio but the traffic noise can sometimes be a bit much. Still, when temps are moderate it's a great way to enjoy dinner. Thank you, Barbara and Gonzalvo, for another fabulous meal.
Just my go-to place when I am in Palm Springs. Never disappoints.
The food was fantastic the personalized service was great. They made a combination of different things on the menu into a meal for us that was wonderful. The wine was great. And it was a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
There were four of us for dinner. Each chose a dish from the pasta selections. The portions were so large that no one could finish their meal. Afterward we mentioned to the hostess that half servings would have been sufficient. Only then were we told that half servings were available. Had we known we could have avoided some expense and waste. This is not a knock on the food or service, all of which were very good.
Great food and excellent service coupled with a wonderful selection of wine.
The staff and food is always consistently wonderful here. We were 30 minutes late and our table was generously held for us with no problem. This has become one of our favorite downtown Palm Springs restaurants and definitely favorite Italian spot in town. The best pasta primavera I’ve ever had....lots of veggies that are bite size (not minuscule ground up pieces) and the pesto is fresh made and delicious!
Always enjoy the good food and good service. We enjoy the vibe of dining outside. Dependable great value.
