We searched Santa Fe for food that had a fresh take. Agave met our hopes! We enjoyed fresh ceviche with sweet potato chips, a terrific salad with pears, goat cheese, cranberry, and a zesty vinaigrette. For breakfast the burrito was expertly and thoughtfully assembled so the flavors melded beautiful. The blue corn pancakes were delightfully different take on a comfort food.

Really very fresh, and approachable food, with lots of flavor. Staff was great, especially Cort. My husband was looking for a "citrusy" drink and Cort make up one that was amazing. He is talented, and the place is really delicious.

We went to dinner for restaurant week. The appetizers and desserts were good, the entrees were ok, but the meat was very grainy and the stacked squash was weird, but ok. The room was beautiful, but the lighting was too bright and detracted from the dinner ambiance. The service was timely but stiff and failed enhance the dining experience. Customer service training might help here.

Very disappointing. Restaurant was nearly deserted, but service was slow, there was a shortage of silverware - they ran out of soup spoons, the wine we ordered was out of stock, but then they found a bottle. One spoon arrived dirty and couldn't be used.

The squash soup appetizer was not heated enough. Our main courses were so so. Deserts were just okay.

They neglected to report our check in to Open Table so we initially didn't get OT credit for the reservation (subsequently fixed).

We won't go back.

Our food was excellent! But service was lacking. Our wine came very late. Our tables was cleared and we were asked if the meal was good before our entrees were even served. Our neighbors (who were crammed in next to us) never got their boxes, dessert nor coffee.

Angel was incredibly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Despite there being a large group for a private event, we still got excellent service. The food was delicious but would have liked our steaks cooked to pink medium rather than the med-rare received. Other items were very tasty. The personal visit from the chef was nice touch too.

I enjoyed the food at Agave, but was surprised at the remodel. It was interesting; tables and booths on one side of the bar, which was basically the restaurant, and on the other side was a lounge area. The remodel put the bar at the center of all the activity.

We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at Agave. The food was delicious contrary to other reviews. We stayed at the El Dorado hotel and I booked dinner for six people. I read most of the reviews posted online and they were discouraging. However, it was hard to get reservation on Christmas Day especially for a big party. I decided to try it and have my own experience. It was actually a pleasant surprise. The food was really good and everyone had a wonderful experience.

We also had breakfast and the food was good. I agree that service can be slow but we were not in a rush

Overall, I will recommend this restaurant and it probably deserves a higher rating since I also dined with other restaurants in Santa Fe and it is definitely at par with other established restaurants such as La Fonda and El Farol when it comes to food and yet the price is much reasonable.

We went here for a nice Thanksgiving Dinner. As we stayed in the very good hotel next door we thought the restaurant should be good too but the service was horrible.
It took forever to get our drink orders in. The dinner options were very limited. The server had no clue about the dishes and wasn’t very interested in finding out. The food was very bland and nothing I couldn’t do better at home. We didn’t get any refills and the dessert my husband had included in the menu was a disaster.

After ordering the check and waiting forever to get it. We ought to pay $195. We talked to our server and she denied any mistake but couldn’t give us a clear bill. After talking to the manager we found out that she booked the menu twice. They fixed the mistake but the overall experience was that they don’t care about their customers. Very disappointing. Today we ate next door at the pizzeria for $50. Had great food and perfect service. What a shame for the Agave.

Very poor service. Order was late even though the restaurant was not busy. Main course came out before our salad. They offered to keep it warm! Left without eating. They did comp us for our drinks. Think this is a managent issue!

I complained my pork chop was small, tough, and dry. I expected an inch thick and got maybe a 1/8 inch. My complaint went unaddressed. Having hiked several miles that day and it late in the evening, I chewed through it, reminded my attendant, paid and left.

I guess we expected more. It felt like an airport hotel experience. Very impersonal. Basic menu. They were not trying to impress anyone. After waiting at an empty table for 20 minutes they brought the entire meal out at the same time! Olives, salads, and entrees... at the same time. It felt like it was lacking in good management.

Ok. Maybe an off night. There was only one person in the restaurant and it was early. Food was ok, got a steak w/green Chile’s but no green Chile’s. Service took a really long time especially for being early and no one else around. Noise level obviously not very loud as there was only two people in the restaurant.

We have gone to Agave (or it's iterations) for years before Lensic concerts. We feel it lacks "identity" and while the food was fine, the menu is extremely limited and the service is generally not great. We will probably go there because is is nice space, the hotel is lovely, and it is convenient for our needs. We do not go there for any other reason. The restaurant scene in Santa Fe is extremely competitive and I assume Agave is content to be primarily of interest to the bar crowd.

If I could give a zero star review, this would be it. Our group of 6 went here during the Happy Hour time and from start to finish, the meal was a total service disaster. From the moment we walked up the stairs, it took a long time to get our drink order and food order. It took even longer to receive the drinks -- in fact, it came AFTER the main food was delivered! Any time we requested basic needs like silverware, napkins, ketchup, an additional beverage, etc., they either never came, or required repeat asking! When my husband asked the manager, why the service was so poor, the manager simply ran off! Agave should have comped us the meal, if they cared one iota about how off-putting the whole experience was. And the food is nothing to write home about. Burger is basic. I'm on IG and a foodie, and it did not even look visually appealing when it came out. This place is clearly short staffed with untrained managers and servers. I will never come here again, and I will NEVER recommend a meal here. Two huge thumbs down.

Thank you for making my birthday lunch with friends such a nice time. Felt sorry for our server as he was a busy bee, appeared to be the only one taking care of everyone. He did a great job. Loved my cobb salad and thank you again for the delicious flourless chocolate cake with the birthday sentiment. Great job. I would do it again!

Glad to be able to make a reservation for breakfast rather than standing in line! Highly recommend the avocado toast. Probably the best I’ve had. Tasty thick bread, Cotija and salsa—what’s not to love. Egg white omelette was ok but leaned to the dry side.

The menu was limited; food ok to disappointing. Trout dish almost unappetizing. After meal, we found out there was a fish and chips special every Friday evening we were not told about. Would have ordered that. Kitchen was out of one of the entrees ordered (and waitress didn't know until food almost ready to come out.) Waited quite a while for waitress to bring bill; finally had to go find her (and there were not a lot of diners left at this time) Then, found out bill was incorrect -- charged us for the first entree that -- was 86'd (and the replacement entree) and an extra margarita we didn't have and had to go find her again. Waitress should have checked the bill before bringing it to the table! Very very noisy as we arrived (a lot of bar drinkers right next to our table) but calmed down as they left, en masse. We were taking a friend out for dinner to thank her and we were very disappointed in the whole experience.

Food and service was terrible. We ordered the ribeye and it came served undercooked and it was tough as nails and half fat. We never got our starters, they forgot. In addition I ordered a dirty martini and it came with no olive juice and olives on the side. It was loud and it took forever to get waited on. When you spend over $100 for dinner it should be at least decent.

Restaurant week. Ordered the ribeye steak. Cooked as ordered and happy about that. I don’t know where they get their cuts of meat but this was, by far, the worst ribeye steak I’ve ever had. The fact that I didn’t get an actual steak knife gave me high hopes for this steak. Could not cut it with the butter knife and was the most “chewy” steak I’ve ever had. While there, my wife and I ordered the signature margarita some we’re doing the margarita trail. Margarita was just ok and was never asked if we would like another drink so just had water. Dinner was over $100 and was the worst waste of money I’ve ever spent.

I am not sure what happened on the night we were there but there was so much confusion with the waitstaff. No one seemed to know what to do. The food was amazing and they made a perfect margarita. We will try it one more time to see if it was just an off night. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the meal was top notch. I do wish the service was more attentive. The servers were walking around lost.
