Affäre Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely amazing! From the ease and explanations of planning our reservations to the end of the meal we were blown away. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and are genuinely glad to care for you while there. The food is absolutely amazing, my husband had the steak and my scallops are some of the best I’ve had. We will definitely be back and look forward to sharing this experience with friends and family.
We love Affare. The food is creative, beautifully presented, and really, really good. The wine list is quite good and the beer selection is superb. The interior is very nice and even when crowded you can still have a conversation at the table. The wait staff is superb - very professional and personable. We love Affare.
Brunch was amazing! The food was so delicious and the service was ready! We went for brunch and they offer 10.00 bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s. They had a live singer and keyboard player during our brunch which was very nice. Everything was high quality and top notch and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I can’t wait to go back and try something else. I had the brat trio and all three were delicious.
We'd just attended a company awards banquet Friday evening, and were so pleased with the excellent service that we returned for Sunday brunch with a relative visiting from out of town.
While the brunch was good, it didn't stand out as Friday evening had. Perhaps we chose the wrong items, but the bison burger disappointed with bbq sauce flavor, the choice of \ eggs scrambled and breakfast sausage was ok but heavy. Maybe adding some lighter and healthier options too would make a more appealing brunch for us
Ordered smoke infused salad. Poor choice on our part. When asked if we enjoyed the salad, we said no.......and the server noticeably lept back and placed his hand on his chest. Throughout the remainder of the meal, he was rude. I thought he was going to throw a glass of water at me. Our choice was not his fault, but his manners were appalling. The German food itself was fair. The restaurant itself was lovely, quiet, and well set out. The maitre d' was very nice and very caring of his facility. We would not recommend Affare.
Had a great evening for my uncle's birthday. Six of us wanted to enjoy each other's company and be able to share a variety of foods. Our waiter, Tony, was very attentive and guided us through the food and drink menus so that everyone's needs were met! It was a lovely experience!
Food and drink selection was excellent! It was nice to have a different variety of protein that you don't find in most establishments. The overall ambiance of the place was great. Now for the bad.... our waiter must have been having an "off" night. I can forgive the lack of knowledge pertaining to the menu but not the lack of attentiveness. Our appetizer was finished when I had to stop another wait staff and ask if we could order dinner. Unfortunately this continued the rest of the night. I had to ask for everything including desserts menu and bill. 5 star food. 2 for staff-needs extra training .
Sadly we went to Affaire to celebrate a special occasion and sat next to a couple who we now know way to much about. They talked non stop and monopolized the servers time. I realize that management can not foresee these type of issues and in retrospect we could have asked to be moved but didn’t want to appear rude. The restaurant did not acknowledge our occasion but again our server had her hands full. The food was absolutely delicious.
I wss in town for a convention and made a reservation “just in case”. There was nothing that I would change about the night. The wine and spirits were perfect, the food was commentably good and inspired, ... I will make a point to return here rather than trying the next new place.
My second time there this year, and I wasn't disappointed. This is German cooking like you'll find in a serious restaurant in the Heimat (the homeland), though apparently they do a good job with beer and sausages as well. Their three-way duck is not to be missed, but smaller appetites will appreciate the half portion of breaded trout. Exceptional wine list and knowledgeable wait staff.
Affare is one of our favorite KC restaurants. Katrin and Martin make every visit a special occasion. The menu is very creative and delicious, the service is efficient and the welcome is always hospitable. We especially enjoy that frequently game meats are a choice. This time the venison was perfect!!!
As always our food was great. However, our server was above and beyond. From the moment we sat down, he addressed us by name. Because of him I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends. We sent a business group there a few nights ago and they were also very impressed. They thanked us for the recommendation.
Wasn't sure what to expect as out-of-towners but this place was great. The charcuterie board offered larger proportion than standard boards - great for a group. The ambiance was awesome, with great music and film noir (instead of sports) playing at the bar. It was vibrant yet we could hear each other talk. Scallops were fantastic as were the signature sausages. Highly recommend.
Affäre offers a unique dining experience great for intimate occasions. The one page menu offers a handsome selection of sausages, seafood, and turf. Though the menu isn't as extensive or "German" enough as some like, you are guaranteed a good meal. I visited Affäre last week and ordered the lamb. The meal arrived promptly and was impressively presented. Small slices of perfectly cooked lamb fanned across a small black plate covered in hollandaise sauce and steamed vegetables. Although the lamb was very well prepared the serving size was far too small and the hollandaise added little flavor. Given the amount of lamb served I found the $28 price quite high. Affäre's drink menu is extensive and features many drinks Americans will be unfamiliar with but sure to enjoy when paired properly. Prices range from as little as $6 to over $24 for a glass. I was impressed to see aperitifs on the menu and then confused not to find any digestifs.
I was happy to be immediately seated upon arrival. It's hard to find a restaurant today that not only takes reservations, but honors them. However my 7:45PM reservation may have been too late for the waitress who was slightly impatient and tried to move us along much faster than we did. Thankfully, we prevailed and had a very, very memorable evening.
I would not recommend Affäre to someone looking for an authentic German dining experience. It's menu and environment are first and foremost "modern" - whatever that means - and occasionally German. That being said, their food and drinks are a welcome surprise.
