The views alone are worth the visit to 5th View – the surprising hidden gem of a restaurant on the fifth floor of Piccadilly’s branch of Waterstones. Sweeping across London towards Big Ben, it’s an outlook which any restaurateur would give sell his soul for. But rather than rest purely on their windows, 5th View have created an indulgent Champagne bar with a decadent feel and excellent food. Sumptuous and comfortable with a gentlemen’s-club-meets-boudoir-meets-country-mansion look, 5th View combines tactile furnishings with classic design and a buzzing atmosphere. 5th View Bar and Food is more of a place where tourists go to rest their feet after a long day of shopping. The ambience was downright depressing and made me want to write a poem about suicide. I had booked a dinner reservation for 8pm, and when we arrived 10 mins before, we were told the kitchen was closed.

Food service was excellent, but drinks took ages to arrive. We were told that the bar was busy (it was empty with only us and a couple of other tables in) and had to cancel a bottle of wine as we had waited so long. The food was lovely and I can't recommend the chips enough - gorgeous.

food was great. Service was good. only thing they could change would be when you ask for tap water you get really small glasses. Maybe bigger glasses or leave a jug on the table. Will go back!

Nice view & decor & reasonable food but let down by the service. Although friendly staff were not attentive, I had to ask a few times for an extra place setting. I asked for a bottle of water & eventually the waiter turned up with a bottle of Rose!! He wasn't paying attention. We ordered a platter which should have included falafel. There was none so I asked the waiter he advised there was none in the kitchen, he should have made us aware when he delivered the platter, he said there was extra cheese but there were only 4 pieces not even enough for a piece each, he said he would get some more, but came back with just one extra slice!! Many deserts not available, they arrived with just cake no offer of any cream or ice cream to go with.

Three of us booked for pre theatre meal. They did not have reservation made at Toptable (??) but happy to accommodate. Tapas like dishes were tasty, well presented and enjoyable. We order mediterranean and asian options. Good wine selection. Main courses were not in same league. They were edible but wanting in taste, texture and presentation. Service polite but slow. Deco is dark, tired - in need of re-doing. Attractive London view (if sitting in right area) interrupted by building cranes. I would, however, recomend it for tapas & drinks. Its location makes it convenient and friendly service.

Nice lunch, although were told they couldn't take our order at 1pm as the kitchen was too busy so had to wait for 20 minutes, which meant the meal was a bit rushed when it eventually turned up.

Often come for business meetings. Food good quality and service pretty good on the whole except sometimes they get over-stretched at lunchtime. However, would recommend.

Nice restaurant. Good fish and chips and the cocktails and mocktails were also nicely made. On a good day can see a view of parliament. In the waterstones building so nice, relaxed location. Service was slow but they were busy.

They had no record of my booking. We had to ask for menus We had to ask for things that were not on the menu It took ages to arrive They got the order wrong. On the plus side, the scone was warm and the cream was very creamy. But I would not go back.

We went for dinner at 5th view, the top table reservation hadn't actually been rung through but the staff were great and as soon as a window table became available we were seated next to the great view. The staff were attentive and the food was good. The restaurant had a real buzz about it, a good place to catch up with friends over a drink.
