Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?
Beautiful location poolside. Menu is on smaller side so best to check before you go. They charge for bread which is odd for a nice restaurant. Also wine list was limited. Could use more mid price Australian, French and Italian red wines. Service was hit or miss. Lovely spot for a romantic dinner or small group. Wouldn’t likely take the kids.
We had an 8pm reservation and our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived but we didn't mind exploring the beautiful courtyard. We didn't get seated until closer to 8:20 and I hadn't realized when I made the reservations that dinner ended at 9. The waitress didn't mention anything when we were seated and given menus, which from past experience tends to be mentioned straight away so as everyone is informed and on the same page. She seemed a bit short with us after a few minutes and notified us that the kitchen was closing soon - with a bit of attitude which was completely unnecessary. The food was fine, it just ruined the ambiance for a nice Sunday supper while we were in town celebrating a friend's birthday. And honestly it wasn't our fault we were seated so late.
I hesitate to say I would come back or recommend this place as Palm Springs is full of beautiful restaurants serving exquisite food with exceptional service. This was a beautiful place, but left a sour taste in my mouth.
This is now my new favorite restaurant in Palm Springs. A co-worker recommended it to me because we were staying at a nearby hotel. We walked in and WOW! The swimming pool is beautiful and the restaurant is alongside the pool. We ate outdoors because the weather was perfect. You can eat inside too where all the wallpaper and tile patterns are amazing. The food was delicious—we were there for brunch. The service was impeccable. I wish I knew my waiter's name...I'd give him a shout out. We sat there for hours, it was so peaceful.
One of my favorite places to go as well as take out of town guests. The atmosphere is reminiscint of being in Spain. Food is amazing and the cocktails are some of the best.
My steak was mediocre. I ordered a NY strip steak. It came in four pieces; quite different. My wife enjoyed her salmon. The service was very good. The restaurant was a bit noisy considering the tables were generously spaced. I think it was a bit high priced for what you got. The entrees did not come with much (no salad, vegetable, or significant potato), even the bread was an extra charge.
One of best places to eat in Palm Springs. Service , food and ambiance all stellar. Been here for both lunch and dinner and it never disappoints. A rose among many thorns.
We had a wonderful dinner. The service was superb.
The food and service were excellent! The pork dish was one of the best we've ever had.
Nice place for a reunion with dear friends. Food was excellent
Yummy brunch and beautiful ambiance!
Not a huge menu selection. Waited 10 minutes to be seated even though there were plenty of open tables
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was delicious. I recommend the Tombo Tuna and the Purple Gang cocktail!
Great atmosphere and delicious food!
Our waiter Parker is very enthusiastic abd goes out of his way rob ensure every detail is taken care of!
Dreadful and abysmal service. Pretty hotel though
The salmon portion was small considering the price, and the menu (while interesting) is fairly limited. The interior space is so very cool, but way too noisy, we couldn't really talk because of the noise levels. If I were to go another time I would probably opt to sit outside as long as the evening wasn't too chilly.
Food was just ok, I had the smoked salmon tartine
Which was good - basically scrambled eggs on smoked salmon on toast. It was ok but nothing memorable like tartines or toasts I’ve had before. the latte was horrible as if they used old coffee grounds and watered-down over-used milk; I sent it back. The waiter was super-friendly and the ambiance was great however. Shame about the coffee!
Very cool setting but the service wasn't great. Food was solid for the price.
Best dinner so we went back for lunch. Amazing in all aspects
We were given incredibly over cooked food. They brought us different entrees that were mediocre at best.
Great food and cocktails!
Amazing! Everything about this restaurant screamed perfection. Had such a great time and the food was everything!
Almost a perfect evening except for the outdoor dining experience on an unusual chilly windy nite in Palm Springs. There was no alternative in sitting inside.
& nothing they could do for us which was unfortunate. We were stuck outside and was rather uncomfortable even with heat lamps. Expensive chilly nite!
We had a lovely experience at Purple Palm. This was our 3rd time visiting here but the first time for a 3 course dinner.
Lovely old Palm Springs ambiance, delicious meal.
Eating outside on the terrace by the pool on a lovely day is great. Relaxed and delicious, it 's a fine experience. For me, eating inside is too noisy although, of course, it varies depending on who else is dining inside. I prefer the lunch and dinner menus to brunch, however my Cesar salad was unique and satisfying and they happily added shrimp that was perfect with it. It's a popular spot at at charming traditional Palm Springs inn. I think you'll like it too!
We loved our dinner at The Purple Palm, the food was outstanding and delicious, the creative dishes are ambitious, but perfectly composed and executed, kudos to the kitchen! We enjoyed our meal outside, and it was magical, very romantic. Service was slow, but other than that, it was an amazing dining experience, we will definitely be back next time we visit Palm Springs.
Excellent food, great house margarita made with blood orange, and great service.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly attentive service and delicious dinner.
This is a delightful place in the flavor of classic Hollywood charm. Be sure to request outdoor seating in Javier's section.
Lovely setting, outstanding waiter, and the best fish tacos in town.
Great dinner, really the best food in a long time! Cheers!
The menu was decent but the chef has a tendency to go just that one step/ingredient too far in all the dishes. Our waiter also advised us that her chef tends to cook to the rare side - something which made two of four in our group particularly annoyed when their steak was cooked to medium after being ordered medium-rare. This is unacceptable in a higher end restaurant.
We are loyal regulars at this point and love everything about the Purple Palm. Have been with small and larger groups, and everyone loves the bar/meal menu. Service is exceptional, welcoming and fun. Enjoy this beautiful setting.
Absolutely loved this restaurant and making plans to come back.
Service was good, not great! Lots of folks, but hard to flag them down. Our waiter was responsive but when we asked for pepper we got two salt shakers (no fresh ground?). Then it took awhile to flag someone down to get a pepper shaker. Two of the meals were good. The two that weren’t liked didn’t want the avocado so more on them than on you. Unfortunately it was an OK experience but we won’t rush back. Sorry.
Our favorite brunch spot! Menu is interesting, tasty and diverse. Dine in a pretty setting by the pool with great mountain and garden views.
The only downside that really affected the enjoyment of our meal is that smoking is permitted near the dining. We were inhaling cigar smoke off and on, which was very unpleasant. The food, service and setting - all was excellent but marred by the noxious smoke.
Such a nice location and I like the decor but the noise level is real high. Food was very good. I
We ordered 4 apps & it was perfect. Service was attentive & pleasant. Very attractive space.
