About Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel
Above all else, the food at the Colony Palms Hotel is beyond anything the Coachella Valley has ever experienced.
Situated in the magnificent courtyard of the Colony Palms Hotel, the restaurant design evokes the glamour of the 1930’s and 40’s when the Colony Palms was “the” place to be seen in Palm Springs. Amazing food, stunning decor, mountain views, and gracious service…what more can be said?

Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel Ratings and Reviews
The food quality and taste is so unbalanced. The raw material are fresh, I can tell from the fruit shape and cut, tenderness of fish and steak. But the sauce and taste created by some ingredients combination is not my style. They are to the extreme of salty and sweetness that I can bear. But some people may like it cooked in this way.
Good side about the restaurant is they are fully prepared for the Valentine’s Day, service is very quick and prompt. But to me, the taste of food ruined our night.
I am sorry to say that it was not good. The cauliflower was just boiled with bbq sauce, and the octopus was mushy. The scallops were nice but not what you would expect from Purple Palm. Not up to their standards. Very disappointing. Ambience is lovely and server was good. It will be a long time before we give it another try
Vibrant bar scene for me means the cocktails were amazing! Fresh combinations of remarkable flavors that we wanted to savor. You can sit poolside if you want to or in the sweetness of the dining room. We chose the dining room and had a romantic take in the corner.
Amazing octopus, sweet, tender and perfectly seasoned, swordfish was delicious and the strip steak done just as asked.
I will visit again as soon as we are back in Palm Springs.
Always a delight, one of our favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. Great cocktails, inventive menu, beautiful ambiance and outstanding service! Our server helped us make a birthday celebration for a close friend visiting from out of town, an amazing evening! Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner a great spot for a memorable experience while soaking up that Palm Springs sun!
Purple Palm is back! After up & down experiences over the past several years, we have now had two recent terrific dinners here. Top notch food & service. Shared two apps, curry roasted cauliflower & a short rib between the 3 of us. Both great though the short rib was the stand out. Each main was distinct, flavorful, fresh with well paired sides. Disappointed when told the grouper had sold out was more than happy with second choice swordfish. Roasted pineapple tart for dessert lived up in quality to what came before. Warm, friendly & efficient service included bringing water & a blanket for our pooch to lay on. Bravo!
I made a reservation for the last lunch seating but when I arrived they said the kitchen was closed up so we could only order from a very limited bar menu that had very ordinary offerings like hamburgers and cesar salad. So I was disappointed that I did not get what I thought I had made a reservation for.
We went for brunch thinking this was going to be a top notch experience. We were very wrong. The menu was uninspiring.
The Bloody Mary was too spicy so instead of making another with less spice, he ‘topped it up’ with tomato juice and never inquired again. It then just tasted like tomato juice.
The English muffin with the Eggs Benedict was so tough to cut through I couldn’t eat it. The coffee we ordered was not refilled.
The small kids in the pool were crying and splashing around us. We didn’t expect so many little children by the pool.
When asked how everything was, we said we had better and it wasn’t good. He just shrugged his shoulders and said oh, sorry.
Bad experience and won’t go back.
Purple Palm at the Colony Palms Hotel is absolutely delightful. We went after dark, so it was even more charming. The menu is imaginative, and the portions are reasonable and priced well. Service was gracious, warm, and friendly. There are some very interesting items on the menu showing great promise, and the starters, mains, and desserts held to that promise. For a special evening of quiet relaxation, dine outdoors in the winter (plenty of heaters); it's a bit more private and romantic. Inside has a measured "hustle and bustle," but it seemed equally gracious and convivial.
If you are not staying at the hotel and want a convenient place to eat....don't bother.
Went for lunch the other day. Small portions, big prices, noisy dining room.
Very disappointed in the Chicken Satay salad. Two little pieces of chicken on a skewer and a bunch of cabbage and corn....$16.
Other dishes at our table were also small and overpriced.
I have been here several times and always enjoyed it. This last visit was very disappointing! Service was terrible, our waiter kept disappearing and the dinner took over an hour to arrive! They did come us drinks because of the wait. The restaurant did not appear overly full so not sure why the service and speed of food arrival was so poor.
I was not satisfied with the service or quality of the food. First of all, in regards to service the meal took entirely too long to arrive to our table. Secondly, when the food did arrive to the table it was not worth the long wait...basic. I would not recommend this restaurant to customers...go to Cheeky’s instead!
We were on vacation and staying next door, but this place looked so swanky. It’s low key, but high end & hip. Sit by the pool, it’s so beautiful there and many people bring their dogs. Our server was very friendly, attentive yet not over bearing. The bar here looks like a great place for a drink before dinner or date place.
We were expecting a Thanksgiving menu and not communicated that it didn’t start until 5:00 our reservations were at 2:00 additionally I called to be assured that they had a variety of options for my Vegan Daughter, they did not .
But they were welcoming and apologized for the miss understanding and the meal was very good .
