Mateo Bar de Tapas is the first solo venture from Chef Matthew Kelly, housed in the old Book Exchange in the heart of downtown Durham, North Carolina. Featuring a menu that blends the flavors of Spain with beloved ingredients and dishes of the South! Accompanying the food is a robust Spanish wine list as well as one of the largest sherry offerings in the country, and now for the first time, a selection of our classic paellas! Our Private Dining Room is located on the second floor of Mateo, featuring an intimate and unique atmosphere that caters to many different styles of events. The Private Room can accommodate up to 40 seated guests, and up to 70 standing, for those who want a more cocktail style party. We offer full buyouts of the Restaurant for larger groups! We are excited to share our space with you and your guests, and to host your party needs!
