Great place to take a dressed up date and not fill out of place. Food is fantastic. Usually have live music but didn’t this Valentine’s Day. Missed the music!
Wonderful food, great Valentine's date! This is our second time and it will not be the last!
Staff was very personable and attentive. Food was fresh, definitely intend to dine upon return.
Our entree was the seafood special and it was delicious and very unique. We finished with a bread pudding dessert. It was divine and even had coddled cream with it. I was surprised the restaurant was open since it was just after Christmas, but it was and easily socially distant. The hallway decorations were wonderful. All in all, it was a great experience eating there.
Our brunch was wonderful. Very friendly staff and outstanding food. Preston's never disappoints.
Visiting our son at Virginia Tech and stayed at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable. They could not have been friendlier or more attentive. I highly recommend dining at Prestons.
Overall it’s a good and clean place to eat. My wife and I’s biggest complaint is that it’s a bit slow. That said the portions were good and this is the first place I’ve been to where the peas tasted good. Make sure you have time to spare before going here.
The menu is limited, but the offerings are diverse. My pork chop, sweet potato mash and collard greens had a great southern flavor and was a great combination of meaty, sweet and sour. My wife’s trout, scallop risotto was creamy, with robust seasonings, too die for. Service was efficient, not rushed and very friendly and helpful. Even got some good tourist advice. The wine list is also limited, but with a reasonable price range. Loved the decor.
Good service in some very trying times. Food was great.
Being my first trip to Blacksburg and staying at The Inn where Preston's is located was the best thing i could have done. The food is excellent along with the service and staff. The bartenders were out of sight and everyone was very friendly and made sure that my friends and i were taken care 100 percent.
The food was mediocre at best. I did not enjoy my experience there.
Excellent service, quality of food superb and nice atmosphere.
Three people in my party bought 3 different dishes. None of us like our dishes. We expected more based on recommendations from other people. We will not be going back.
Breakfast buffet was great. Fresh food and very friendly service was enjoyed by whole family.
Friday night seafood buffet is really wonderful. Large wine selection and great service. Only reason I scored a little lower on ambiance is the family at the table next to us discussed politics and Corona virus the entire time.
It was good but not as much of a selection as I'd hoped. Their Sunday Brunch Buffet is much better than the Friday Seaford Buffet, hands down.
As usual, the service was outstanding. The staff was very attentive to our needs and questions.
I love this Restaurant. One of the few in the NRV that gets it right all the time
We had the special Valentine's Day menu. The food was amazing! I can't pick a favorite course of the meal because they were all delicious.
Very nice valentines menu. Excellent beef and amuse-bouche
I’ve eaten at Preston’s lunch buffet three times now and the previous two times it was outstanding - perfect pork tenderloin and roast beef (I had the best prime rib sandwich ever made) and I brought my sweetheart for Valentines Day to have his first meal at Prestons. I was disappointed to find the menu featured lasagna and chicken etoufffee (although the etouffee was good. The food was good, but I was expecting a special buffet for the special holiday.
Really great food and great service
We dined at Preston's for Sunday brunch. We arrived promptly at 11:00 am when brunch begins. There were several customers already seated and in line to be seated. Our server, Melanie, was pleasant and responsive. We enjoyed Mimosas before initiating the grazing process. The atmosphere was pleasant with a pianist playing hits from the 40s. Preston's brunch is well laid out and easy to navigate even when the dining room is fully occupied. There are several attentive Preston staff members ensuring that the dishes are hot/cold and neatly presented. The prime rib and steak were especially tender and the bacon crisp. The sides included crusty (this is good) mac and cheese, sauted vegetables, and a broccoli/cauliflower casserole. There were no potato dishes or breakfast starch (i.e., grits). My husband missed an omelette to order. Regardless the selection was quality. Bottom line: brunch at Preston's is the best value in the New River Valley. We will return.
This is now a tradition for our family. What a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas 🎄✝️ with your family! The General Manager is Awesome!! The Servers are ALWAYS incredible! Every single person who works here on this particular day celebration is truly the epitome of what you want to get when you go to a five star restaurant! (And we’ve been to quite a few of them!) Amazing! Beautiful! Incredible! Awesome! And then there’s the Christmas Trees 🎄 🎄 WOW! Breath taking!
What a beautiful, beautiful place to go! Merry Christmas to each one of you!
Gratefully and Respectfully,
The Donaggio family
Food from buffet was not hot at 9am when we were there. Pancakes were lukewarm and tough. Disappointed because I had guests visiting from out of town. Had not had such an unsatisfying experience there before.
I wouldn't recommend the brunch. Preston has remodeled and the food quality and number of choices was disappointing. They had a great Santa and photographer for the Santa brunch, but we'll most likely look for another option.
Not a large menu but the food was great. Was a bit busy when we arrived (and we arrived early). We were going to sit at the bar for a drink so we were early but the bartender was off delivering a room service order which we thought was rather strange - not sure if that's an unusual occurrence or if the bartender often wears multiple hats. The manager jumped in to help which helped.
This was my second time attending a Sunday Brunch at Preston's. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves. Two things: our water was not refilled and checks were placed on our table before we asked for them. I believe I can have an opinion about this because I was a waitress for years in college. Everyone forgets things, that is a guarantee. However, it is your job as a server to be observant to your tables and what is missing. You never just print out checks and place them on the table. What if we wanted more mimosas? You're missing out on a chance to get more money for the restaurant which would lead to a higher tip. Also, it makes your customers feel as if they were rushed. We let the checks sit there until we were good and ready to pay for them.
Worst seafood buffet I ever had!!!
Food was dry, very dirty buffet tables, many empty dishes and bowls for offerings .
Service was slow and incompetent.
Need more international vegetarian options
The perfect place to meet for brunch with our daughter and her friends after game day.
Nice quiet restaurant on the Virginia Tech campus and a nice place to enjoy Sunday brunch. Price at $22.50 was a little expensive although they include a champagne mimosa. Food was very good but nothing special. The usual brunch items were available (scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, fruit, french toast) as well as several lunch items (carved roast beef, salad makings, salmon). Several desserts were also offered. My one small complaint was that there was no omelet station and the only bread offering was a dinner roll - no toast or English muffins. Coffee and tea were included.
The Friday night seafood buffet was delicious. There was a good variety of seafood items, and the service was excellent.
The service was outstanding. The seafood buffet was delicious and fresh. I will certainly return whenever I am at Virginia Tech.
This is the absolute place to go for Sunday Brunch. Period. We've now been several times and it's spectacular every time. Their Eggs Benedict is always on the buffet and it's some of the best I've ever had. From breakfast to lunch items, make sure you eat small portiond because you'll want to try a lot of different foods.
Great dinner following an awesome Virginia Tech football game!
The food was excellent. The service was wonderful and the staff was friendly and attentive. We will go back on our next visit to VT. Always pleased with this restaurant.
We had a table for 12 and the service was as bad as it could be. We waited an hour for two appetizers to be served, then another half hour for food. When the food was served half of the dinners were wrong and two did not come until everyone else had finished eating. I realize we had a large party but there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Must have had a problem in the kitchen. Food was actually very good.
Business was extremely slow when we were there for lunch. The dining room was empty except for our party and one other party. Ours was a business lunch, for which we had reservations, and thought the restaurant was open until 2 or 2:30. At 1 p.m. the server indicated that since the restaurant was not busy, they would probably close early at 1:30 or 1:45. We tried to finish our conversation by 2:00, but it was uncomfortable because we were aware the staff was ready to close and obviously we were the only reason they could not. The staff was not unpleasant or rude, but it was not a good atmosphere. Evidently turning The Inn into a partial dorm has made a negative impact on the restaurant. We have made a business decision to conduct our lunch meetings elsewhere until Preston's service returns to what it was before the current housing situation.
Visiting my daughter at VT. We had a family group of 5 for the Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the entire experience. They had a young lady playing the guitar and singing and she added beautifully to the setting. The food was wonderful in terms of both taste and variety and the staff were quite pleasant and helpful. We will definitely go back.
