We loved Portland City Grill! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, the views were beautiful. The lighting was so low, however, that we had to use a flashlight to read the menu. Low lighting is lovely and romantic but also hard to read a menu by and difficult for people with hearing issues to see the other people talking.
Overall good. View is spectacular. The service was great. Food ok.
We had a good time, along with a good food, professional service.
Great romantic dinner spot!! Best views in Portland
It was a little noisy but thre did was exceptional! We didn't get a window seat but it was still very nice.
This is the best restaurant in the city. I have been coming here for decades. Highly recommend it for reasonably priced meals as well as the high end meals. Best place to impress out of towners and friends.
Fantastic food, great service. Perfect for a special occasion! Really great manhattans and old fashioned’s. Everything on our plates were beyond delicious!
Outstanding food. Great view, very proper eating scene.
My husband and I went to PCG before a Christmas play. We had to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation
But once we were seated our waiter was attentive and the restaurant was very lively and busy. We ordered a cocktails - pricey but very tasty - and a couple appetizers to share. The food was great - very flavorful. I recommend the calamari, just be prepared for a huge portion! We made it to our show with time to spare and the desire to head back to PCG for a full meal (and the time to wait for a window seat).
Server was not personable, went through the motions.
Our party of four requested a window table with our reservation made two weeks ahead of time so we could watch the Christmas Boat parade. When we arrived, we were told a window table would be a 45 minute wait despite the several vacant window tables we observed. But the ambiance was nice, the noise level very manageable, the service good, the food very, very good. The gentleman enjoyed their paella, I was overjoyed with the full rack of lamb. All in all a lovely evening.
Just wondering what the deal was with the botched window reservation.
As usual, cocktails and dinner were excellent. Cody took great care of us!
We purchased the wagyu steak and the salmon. The Steak was cooked perfectly although the chunks of dried tomato were a bit overpowering to the plate. Would recommend cutting them smaller or perhaps grating them on the top of the steak. The salmon was bland and was soggy on the bottom from the skin being cut away after cooking and then placed on the bed of vegetables. A different cooking method and some additional zest are suggested. The dried tomato from the steak might be just the right touch of zest for the salmon.
We also ordered the cheese platter, which was delicious. Our wine was selected by the waiter which perfectly complimented our meal.
For dessert we ordered the chocolate torte, which had a few issues. The cake itself was extremely strong in flavor, and although the vanilla ice cream balanced it out, there was more cake than there was ice cream... So in that respect there could be improvement in portion sizing. The sauce was delicious, although very sweet and Did not quite meld well with the strong flavor of the cake. The ice cream rested on salted peanuts, and as the ice cream melted, it removed the salt and puddled under the cake, causing the bottom layer of the cake to become overwhelmingly salty. This can be improved upon by putting less peanuts, by using the peanuts as a garnish atop the ice cream, or else placed on the side entirely. Whatever way the peanuts are used, I would suggest cutting them a bit more fine, so as to make them easier to consume. (The peanuts were halved and little else.)
As far as ambience, it was beautiful. The dim lighting made it difficult to read the menu. I enjoyed hearing the pianist feom the lounge area, and staff were more than helpful and polite. The seats were comfortable, the linens clean, and the air fresh and clear. We Will probably be back!
Thank you, Jeff, for the great service. I appreciate you!
This was our first time dining here at Portland City Grill. Right off the bat, it was confusing to figure out where to go to check-in for our reservation, so I think there should be a sign for guests. We asked for a window table, so we didn’t mind waiting for another hour to make our first visit more worth it. However, I think there could have been a proper waiting area or at least the restaurant could provide more chairs for guests whom don’t wish to sit in the bar. All in all, the staff were kind, friendly, and attentive.
Great experience. Mentioned a birthday and they sat us by at a window seat with birthday confetti at the table. Started with the Calamari appetizer and it was HUGE! It was so tender and flavorful it could have been a meal. Stick some rice or noodles with it and you don’t need anything else.
The boyfriend had the steak which was delish. He imordered it Medium but was more on the Med Rare side (which is how we like it). We didn’t know it came with a choice of potatoes and green beans so we ordered another side of asparagus so it was too much food. I ordered the Tuna Nicoise Salad. It was great except for the actual Tuna. It was rubbed in some Cajun spices that didn’t go with the many flavors in the salad. It would have been fine without the tuna or the tuna without the rub. The cocktails were great too. All in all it was great and we can’t wait to go back.
Had a wonderful time. Cocktails and food were terrific. Some of the best Sushi rolls I’ve ever had. Everything was extremely well prepared. Our server and Bartender were excellent. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Lovely space, great food but we had a terrible service experience. Our waiter was rude, impatient and snippy. We actually complained to the manager (not something we normally do) because it was ruining a very expensive dining experience. I felt like I was in a diner that was trying to flip the table quickly. Not enjoyable for a $500 bill.
Our waitress was amazing! She went above and beyond.
Great food, great scenery .. crowded, and service was a bit slow, but hey on a Friday night, maybe that's just to be expected. Great place
Nothing special except the view.
We're vegetarians. Seems like every place in Portland ties to accommodate somewhat- this place does, BUT- if you get turned of by FLAMING HOT STIR FRY (and I mean SPICY!!!!!!!) do NOT order the stir fry tofu. It will fry your brains out. We're talkin' 5 alarm here! We got lucky in that my husband likes spicy stuff (but it was still hot, even for him!)- I wanted a healthy entree, so that is why I ordered the stir-fry- he ordered the spinach and ricotta ravioli. We had to trade immediately after I took a bite. It was like FIRE in my mouth. Funny thing is that is actually tasted GOOD, but in no way could I eat it. So why do you guys feel the need to try and burn us from the inside out?? Ugh. Please, stop this.
The bread is always delish and the desserts were good, too. And the hazelnut salad is always a winner! (For years now, please do not take it off the menu ;) Service was great, as usual. $12.50 for one vodka and cranberry. We had to spend fifty bucks on 4 drinks- that was truly $teep, even for a place 30 floors up.
Stopped in for a late dinner. The service was excellent and the food wonderful. Will definitely visit again.
The Dungeness crab cakes are wonderful! Very little filler if any! The view is spectacular!
Mt steak was burned on the outside. So busy I guess they just wanted that plate gone from the kitchen.
I have been to PCG before and was always pleased & had excellent service. Our waitress was
pleasant but did not do a good job.
She never brought my friend's iced tea but added it to the bill. She never came over
once during our meal, or after we started eating, to see if everything was okay.
She disappeared and we couldn't even ask for the tea.
Great food,great service.
A little dark for me,hard to see the menu.
My daughter definitely enjoyed it for her birthday.
Great night time view of city. Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with wine recommendations. For was good but could have been better for the price.
Service was amazing and food was impeccable. Gorgeous view!
Brunch was disappointing We have had much better experience at lunch and evening there. Not a good value.
We had brunch there for my son's 40th birthday. I expected a lot more choices at the buffet and was disappointed there wasn't any cooked vegetables although the beet salad was excellent. I liked the dessert choices and the sizes were perfect. The waiter was wonderful and attentive, taking care of our many needs especially for more mimosas!
The food was excellent, the wine selection was perfect, and our waitress was super nice, friendly, and attentive. We had a wonderful Anniversary experience. Loved this restaurant!
Dinner was delicious. Service sucked. We were in the corner and our server didn’t come back for about 45 minutes after we were done with our dinner. I recommend their food but service was so bad.
Been here several times and the food seems to have become rather bland. Steaks were average at best and at nearly $60 each I am expecting tender and tasty.
Overall it’s still a nice place, but not worth the money based on our last visit. Waiter was nice and very friendly - this was the only bright spot of the night.
Appetizers (soup) was cold and wavy skewers were chewy.
It was a special event for us and unfortunately the venue just didn’t live up to its billing. Kinda bummed...
Great place for any type of celebration. We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted a table by the window...fog set in and you couldn’t see any lights outside but dinner was still great.
We had a great dinner and had an amazing server! Thanks Izzy
We only get to Portland City Grill for special occasions - or once in a great while - so when we do, we ENJOY the heck out of it! This time was no exception! Izzy, our waiter, was EXCELLENT. One of the best we've had. (As were the many other staff members who stopped to check on us or chat with us throughout the evening.) And the food was impeccable. Can't imagine a better dining experience. Wish we could go more often!
Unfortunately the main dish was cold. The service was great.
Just amazing! went out of their way to make it special for my wife's birthday.
our waitress was perfect. just the right amount of attention and perfect timing.
Food was great ... service great ... views spectacular!
