    We brought an out of town visitor for their birthday. Of course we hope to have a window table, but there weren’t any available for parties over four people. Some of us enjoyed the three course special. Plenty of food and delicious options. I’d say the chop salad was a little overdressed for my taste. And the crème brûlée was so perfect - a light creme, very smooth & decadent. And of course they brought a complimentary little red velvet cake for the birthday person. We bought a bottle for the table. Total- About $100 per person. A wonderful time together!

    We really enjoyed our experience. The atmosphere cannot be beat and the service is stellar. Only thing I would ding them on was the food. It's good, but it's no Manny's.

    Hands down, Portland City Grill boasts the best view of any restaurant in the city. That is a big reason people go there. However, we have always enjoyed the food when we came, as well. So we were very disappointed when my husband's $124 Australian lobster tail was not only NOT a 5, 4, 3, or even a 2...it was a 1. The vegetables that came with it were basically inedible. Given, we didn't tell our server because it just wasn't worth making a fuss, so we didn't give them a chance to make it better. He was very good, but was slammed, so it just didn't make sense. I did want to pass it along, though, in case you're ever thinking of getting this menu item. He also had cold water shrimp that were wonderful, and my Chef Salad and sushi were fine, but when you're spending that much on 1 item, you expect a little more.

    The food, ambiance, service and view at the Portland City Grill were all outstanding. The halibut was especially good, as was the blackberry mocktail. Service was cordial, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. Highly recommended for a special romantic evening or group gathering.

    Our meal was EXCELLENT! 3 of the 4 people in our party got the 3-course special. 2 got filet and shrimp…filet cooked perfectly. 1 got the salmon and said it was the best he had eaten in years. I got the lobster and shrimp carbonara and it was amazing. Salads and soup were also fantastic. Our waiter was also kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

    When we arrived, we sat for at least 15 minutes with no water and no waiter and no drink. Finally a bus boy came by and asked if anybody had helped us. He brought us some bread and water. It was another 10 minutes at least before I received a glass of wine. My husband ordered a Caesar salad with no peppers. It arrived with some sort of red sauce on it that was not indicated on the menu. We had mentioned to the waiter. My husband is suffering from stomach issues and he was very kind and took it away. However, my husband ordered a piece of plain grilled Aji tuna And the waiter brought him blackened Aji tuna. so who knows if he didn’t put the order incorrectly or the Chef prepared it incorrectly, but he certainly should’ve seen when it came out of the kitchen that it was incorrect. By the time my husband got his meal. I was finished with mine. The manager was going around to every table, except our asking how things were. When finally that very astute, hard-working bus boy noticed that I would also like to talk to the manager and asked me and I said yes, please. I told the manager about our situation as well as what I overheard from the table next to me and what the people next to them said when they were leaving. The steak was overcooked the decaf coffee was old, etc., The manager did seem genuinely concerned and caring. He credited the entire meal to our credit card and apologized profusely. The view was spectacular, but there were also a bunch of other people in the Restaraunt in shorts and flip-flops which kind of brought down the ambience.

    The service and ambience were wonderful. However, the food was a huge disappointment. Both of our meals were overcooked and dry. Something, maybe the Dungeness crab cake, made me very ill.
