The food was absolutely astonishing, the price is worth the amount and flavor your get from the food. Lovely service and very polite. Will definitely be going again!
We had an amazing experience! Sherry was very nice and attentive! She was on point in terms of service as well!
We were able to sit next to the window which was amazing. The crab cakes were delicious and the bread was warm and delicious. The steak we ordered was overdone however the waiter took it back to the kitchen and had the chef remake it, it was good but not done to medium like we had asked. Our pork chops were amazing and the presentation of the plating was fabulous. Our drinks were delicious, I had the Makers 46 and coke, we had some wine and a lemon drop. All very tasty, I would come back just for the drinks, bread and crab cakes! Next time I am trying the salad!
Olive Garden with no lights and a nice view… the food is horrific, service not so great, pretty wild that all you’re paying for is a beautiful city scape and they still put you in a booth haha
1st time, got a good view and they made accommodations. Great place and food
The place wasn't really worth going to.. The food was lude was OK at best and and the service was never there and I just wasn't worth the money
Made reservations for my daughters 18th birthday. Our table was in the walk way right when you enter. The employees and customers kept bumping my daughters chair. She ran to the bathroom in tears . Once she relaxed & came back out we tried to order her food but the server didn’t come back out to check on us for awhile. Needless to say her food came out after we were done eating. When we came here for her 15th birthday, the atmosphere, employees & food was 100 times better. Very disappointed.
The view was great, the food was excellent, and the service was great
The view is outstanding. The service is OK. The food is comparable to Outback Steakhouse at around 4x the price. If you're going there for something special, like an anniversary, be prepared for them to put every new customer as close to your table as possible even with 30+ free tables in the room. Think Spirit airlines on Sunday night from Las Vegas to anywhere.
IOW, this isn't your best choice...
Most delicious steak I have ever had. It is expensive food but so worth it.
Great place, great service and great ambiance! We were visiting Portland and definitely wanted to try this place. It did not disappoint.
We asked for parking validation and thought we were, but when we left the structure it still asked us to pay. Not sure what happened but that was a bummer.
The food and service were wonderful
Place was nice and comforting. Feel lame if the food lacked flavor but was good.
As always, the food and service are exceptional! One of our favorite restaurants in the world!
Everything was wonderful. Great food in good portions. Lovely view. Good place to wow company. Also very romantic. And our server, Sherry, and the others were lovely and efficient. Fine experience.
Celebrating our engagement. So happy I made the choice there
This place was very fancy but not uptight. I enjoyed the dark atmosphere and the bartender was friendly and receptive when we first sat for a drink. Waitstaff were attentive and the food came out quickly and was so delicious.
Great food, great view. Service was outstanding!!!
Make it difficult to get a window view.
Saved by the view... My husband and I were in town visiting to celebrate out anniversary. I made reservations for Portland City Grill weeks in advanced because of the amazing views. Unfortunately that's about the best thing I can say about the restaurant.
First, because we are out of towners and didn't know any better, we were seated at these awkward lounge type seats that were very uncomfortable and difficult to eat at. But dealt with it because we wanted to be at the window. Later when I went to the restroom I realized the entire other section of the restaurant had standard dining tables but we were weren't offered that seating choice when we arrived. I would have understood if we had been walk ins but we had reservations. Also when we were leaving we overheard a waiter giving a standard dining table food options that our waitress did not give us. It was extremely disappointing knowing we could have potential had a better experience.
Second, for Portland being such a foodie town, Portland City Grill just isn't where you want to go for an incredible meal. It wasn't horrible but it was nowhere close to great. The best things we had were the oysters, the calamari and the drinks. Our steak was overcooked and extremely salty, scallops a hair overcooked, and sides were just bland. This place has so much potential with the incredible views, but at the moment it won't be a place we would recommend or return to.
Bad food and bad service. Yes the view is nice but for the worst salad straight out of the fridge (croutons freezing cold as well), burnt 52$ steak, overcooked salmon, no chopsticks or soy sauce with the sushi that I have to go to the hostess to request them. Server seemed brand new. All of these wouldn’t be that bad if the price and number of high recommendations weren’t there. Disappointing. Just get a drink at the bar, take in the view, then eat at a place that has good food.
Made reservation two weeks out for my anniversary and requested a table with a window view. They did not accommodate and we're somewhat snooty about the policy. Apparently only walkins can get a window view. So no point in making a reservation here! I recommend going to Departure.
We were there celebrating our first anniversary. Granted that’s not as exciting for other people, as it is for us. But the server’s comment was, “Well, I guess you have to start somewhere,” which was a strange way of saying he didn’t think that was worth celebrating.
Or maybe he didn’t think that, but the word choice was poor, and it certainly rubbed us the wrong way.
And then he left before we did, and told us that the staff was trying to leave, even though there were still other tables there too.
The meal was delightful and the setting is gorgeous.
Wonderful staff! Visiting from out of town and would definitely come again for our next visit.
Food and service are good. A traditional celebration spot for our family.
It is disappointing that they won’t reserve a window table even for a special occasion like a 21st birthday but it was a pleasant meal.
There are other places in Portland with much better food and service. Go there for the view, the rest is just ok.
Have been here in the past and received excellent service. Not this time. Waiter did not introduce himself, sugar spilt down the side of my cocktail making it impossible to drink without getting my fingers sticky. I was able to get a different drink but had to ask for bread and butter which had been brought out to other tables. Food was okay, not great. Finally, had to pay 8 bucks to park even though our waiter assured us TWICE that he had validated the parking voucher. Won’t be back as there are other great places to eat in Portland.
Fabulous birthday experience, food was great, Matty’s service was perfect.
We came for the first time and I made reservations for 7pm for my wife’s birthday and we got there and two others were seated before us and then a third couple showed up who had a 6:30 pm reservation and they got a window seat because they knew someone and we were told that we had to wait 45 min for a window seat to open .. we didn’t wait and got a table in the middle somewhere .. later to see that there were two tables sitting by the window empty ... and no one was being sat there ... we ordered our drinks they were good and salad was good however my wife’s 10oz sirloin was undercooked and cold in the center .. she had to remove her food from the plate and hand over to the waiter ..which was really odd ..our house potatoes were cold .. veggies were good .. the waiter brought the steak back and we cut right in the middle again and same thing cold .. not cooked .. I was already fed up so much that we wanted to leave .. for a restaurant that charges so much you should know how to cook a steak ... and how to treat people there .. I paid $187 for an ok view from far with very low quality food .. she was not even offered complementary cake for her birthday .. not the experience we thought it would be ..
Service was not met
Food came back twice raw and cold
Front desk was not willing to place us as I requested.
Horrible and embarrassing night .
I rarely eat steak out at a restaurant because I can usually do a better job of grilling one myself, but decided to go for the rib eye this time out, it was so good. Definitely would recommend.
Also our server was attentive and accommodating.
Excellent service from an excellent staff. Food was fantastic and made perfectly.
Very traditional dining, heavier meals, not much creativity
Excellent food and service
Food was gross no season what so ever and the veggies were hard ..
The service was great and the meals were delicious! Great view to top it off!
Very enjoyable place to dine. Great service, nice view and wonderful food.
Excellent and delicious food! I highly recommend. Especially the view of Portland downtown.
