The aromas emanating from Pomme Frite"s kitchen are enchanting and mellow even the most severe food critics. The charming patio is perfect for street and people watching on Palm Canyon Drive, and the dreamy European music insures a relaxing and romantic dining experience.

Really enjoyed the ambiance, nice Belgian touch, quality of food and above all value for money.
I would give the service a better rating if it hadn't been for the rude attitude of the owner. The escargot was great and the pate was good. I had an outdoor table and it was wobbly. There was almost no room between my chair and the person behind me.
Always enjoy this restaurant. As usual, we had the mussels and we also ordered the special which was cassoulet - not my favorite but every cassoulet is different. A bit warm back in the corner. At the very least, a fan would help.
Just OK. Probably will not go back. So looking forward to French onion soup - big disappointment. Tons of cheese but not a good flavor of the actual soup. Filet w/peppercorn sauce just ok. Sauce could have been better. Duck cassoulet was also just OK. My husband didn't finish his, which is unusual for him. Lots of beans. He said it was like eating franks and beans. OK, well, with all the restaurants in Palm Springs, they need to step up their game. We eat out quite a bit and love French food, but there is probably a better option than Pomme Frite.
Overrated- expensive French onion soup that, other than the cheese, was just okay. The broth was lacking flavor. Average fries. Lemongrass mussels had no lemongrass flavor. Ended up in a small space with a large bachelorette party which made for a very loud evening. Won’t return
Really enjoyed our meal there. Would definitely go back.
Excellent as always
This was our second visit to this restaurant. Our server was totally distracted for the entire meal and when we finally asked another server for water he told us quite rudely to wait for ours. The food was excellent although it certainly was a different dining experience from two nights prior.
Really enjoyed the meal and the experience! Great selection
Since our last trip there it seems they have added a new hostess and she is very good, keeps things moving and brings up the caliber of the place. In the past, it seemed it was the owner managing that process and he can be a bit "gruff." Our waiter was very pleasant and good. The fixed price dinner is a VERY good value and my trout was delicious. In fact, the whole meal was excellent...Escargot to start, Trout and Creme Brulee to finish. All for 30.00. I like the way they serve wines by the glass, half carafe or full carafe (I felt I WAS in France!) and you can get a very nice wine for a reasonable price. They have a BEAUTIFUL selection of Belgium beers and always serve the beer in the promotional glass that goes with the beer. Very cool. My only complaint is that I had an American Express Gift card I wanted to use and they were unable to take it because it did not have a chip. There should be a way to swipe or input the credit card number, but apparently they were unable to do so. No big deal as I had other credit cards to use, but I was just disappointed to not be able to use my gift card to celebrate my retirement.
The food was marvelous, each course interesting and tasteful. My fish was excellent and cooked perfectly. My wife’s steak was just the way she likes, full of flavor and medium-rare. Their Pate Provençal is always delightful. Plus the staff and owner make
you feel welcomed and are attentive. It is like a quick trip to Belgium or Normandy, France. Enjoyed immensely.
The food is consistently excellent at this Belgian bistro in downtown PS. The French Onion soup is fantastic. Service is usually good, except when it occasionally gets very busy on peak season weekends.
Charming Belgian/French restaurant in downtown Palm Springs with genuine, beautifully-prepared dishes that are difficult to find in an unpretentious, lovely setting. The owner is from Belgium and the food is authentic and delicious. The service exceptional as well. The wine list and beer was carefully chosen and quite moderate in price. We had gone a day before to a very high end, expensive french restaurant which was excellent but cost twice as much, and Pomme Frite compared well to it in all respects. A great find for lovers of french food, at very reasonable prices!
Server was great. My hanger steak was gristly. Norwegian salmon was very good. It took the manager 15 to 20 minutes to run my credit card. Frustrating.
They need to remind their patrons that sharing a salad that cost $15 will cost them $30 for sharing. Our friends who were our house-guests took us out for dinner and were shocked at the bill, because an extra $30.00 was tacked on for the food we ordered. We had two salads and we happened to share them... This was noted after they served me the wrong entree order and I had to wait 15 minutes after everyone else was served their entree. You would have thought that one might have had to courtesy to alert us of the sharing fees or take something off the bill after I was served so late. We will be more cautious about recommending this restaurant and returning.
Pleasant service, very good food and wine, and a very pleasant locale. Try and sit outside.
This was my first visit to this delightful neighborhood bistro after several positive recommendations. Pomme Frite is located on Palm Canyon Drive, with both indoor and patio seating. It features classic French and Belgian fare, and gives the feel of an authentic European establishment. The steak tartare and escargots were perfect and hearty starters. For a main course, I was delighted with the Friday special Bouillabaisse while my friend enjoyed the Mussels Menuiere. Both were served with rich, satisfying sauces that really elevated the dishes. The chocolate mousse was a perfect end to the meal. Service was friendly and attentive. It was also refreshing to see a classic old world wine list which paired well with the menu. I highly recommend Pomme Frite and look forward to returning soon.
Waitress lied about one main and two desserts. Fish cooiked nicely but full of black pepper after asking for no black pepper. Warm Belgium chocolate sauce turned out to be cold Bosco on La Damme Blanche. I would be ashamed to serve the Tarte Tatin served here! Applesauce on soggy dough. Physical room feels sorta kinda like a French/Belgium bistro until bartender, owner and other help shout across the room at each other in both English and Spanish. Oh yes, one last thing... Owner should take the chef to Brussels to try some authentic Belgium les pommes de terre frites. A big disappointment.
We had a wonderful, warm server who made good suggestions. The fish and meatballs were delicious as was our Brie appetizer.
Wouldn’t hesitate to refer this restaurant. The price was rather reasonable.
One of our favourite places in Palm Springs. Great food, and great ambience - you feel like you are in France or Belgium.
As always everything was wonderful. My salmon was great , as was my husband’s Cassoulet . Our dinner guest raved about his mussels entree— finding it superb. Our server was great— attentive and full of fun. All in all another marvelous dinner at Pomme Frite!
Was a bit disappointed in the meal--steak tartare. Was lacking in flavor and was rather pricey. Came with a "salad", which was just chunks of lettuce on the plate, and french fries. Noise level is due to the traffic, but that's expected. Glad we tried it, but won't return.
Fantastic, as usual.
Great start with a friendly bartender, then a "don't bother me" hostess (or was it a masquerading owner), then our reservation for 5 people was forced to sit at an impossible 4-top, then a long wait for food that we ordered. On top of it all, our meals were, at best bland and uninspired. Wish we cooked at home!
It’s like a small slice of Belgium fell out of the sky and landed in the California desert. I first fell in love with Carbonnade à la Flamande, or Flemish beef stew, many years ago when traveling through Europe as an exchange student and what they provide here was the best I’ve tasted outside of Belgium. Nice chunks of tender meat, carrots and prunes in a mouthwatering gravy. Served up with a healthy side of frites and a beer and I was in heaven. Even though the place was packed with Modernism Week visitors the service was prompt and friendly. They’ve succeeded in recreating the atmosphere of an authentic Belgian neighborhood bistro - the only thing missing was accordion music in the background. Don’t miss the Anjou pears in spiced red wine for dessert.
We had a great time. Food +Service was great.
I am French and this is my French place to go when in Palm Springs.Perfect steak frites and amazing crepes suzette. Bon appétit !
Front of house was a but chaotic. Didn’t seem people knew what was happening. Little disorganized. Food was good. We had fires with one entree and they were cold. It was a bit pricey for what it was but good food isn’t easy to find in the desert Staff was very nice.
The maitre d’ is a little gruff. Once you’re past that, the service was friendly, atmosphere perfect, food very good. Cassoulet was good but not great. NY steak very good, as was the frisee salad. Frite very good, not great, as was the onion soup.
Valentines Day was perfect at Pomme Frite! Must try the pate and the salmon appetizer. Eager to go back!
Always low key...very European
My daughter and I were visiting Palm Springs for the first time with a family friend who lives nearby and thought this restaurant would be a nice place for Valentines Day dinner. I was mistaken, the location is great right on Palm Canyon Dr but we were very disappointed in our dinner. My daughter ordered the lamb(it was overcooked and chewy), I ordered the NY strip(also overcooked and thin for a strip). My friend had the medallions and they were ok. Our waitress never came back to check on us until she dropped off the check. The restaurant was very busy(not surprised) and is cute enough. Maybe we got a bad night.
Decent food and great service. A good place for Palm Springs.
This is always one of my favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. Old-school family style. Authentic. Very nice staff. Has an outdoor patio but I prefer to sit inside because it’s got that old world charm and it’s high quality food. Yes the patios nice in the daytime but for night time and service in ambience I recommend eating inside.
I had muscles and for the first time ever I liked them.
Excellent wine list.
If you like mussels - this is THE place. All entrees are superb. You cannot go wrong with any menu item.
Food and service was perfectly fine and respectable. Mixed drinks that were prepared left a lot to be desired, and at the price you really would want it prepared better.
It was an amazing experience, felt like being in a little cafe in France. Every new plate that would come out during our meal continue to surprise.
