Had a chance to meet the Chef. This guy has it down pat. Locally purchased food cook in a classy way and presented beautifully by his kitchen staff.
Also, we sat and the bar, we had Sara as our Bartender and server.... top notch!
The service was great. I cannot remember the sever’s name but he checked up on our table often. The food is always perfect there as well!
We've gone to Plates a few times over the past couple of months. The food is always great, a fantastic wine list, and the service is wonderful! Plates has become one of our favorite restaurants in Raleigh!
We ate on the patio as we had our dog traveling with us. The service was wonderful, the food very good and our little dog welcome! I highly recommend the charcuterie board with cheese added, the sea bass with crispy outside, the mushroom pasta and the perfectly prepared pork chop.
My wife and I just had a fantastic dinner at Plates Kitchen. Justin Gallus (GM), Chef David Mitchell and their Team created an incredibly interesting menu pairing local foods with very international seasonings. I had the roasted local rainbow carrots with harissa and Greek yogurt as an appetizer while my wife tried the “loaded toast”... a dramatically undersold pumpernickel bruschetta-type dish with green beans, pickled cauliflower, beets, and a honey vinaigrette. Mains were a tenderloin in red wine reduction and a seared sea bass with lemon vinaigrette. We did try the sticky toffee pudding (New Years resolutions can start tomorrow) which was exceptional. Our host, Taylor, was also very attentive and engaging. Highly recommended. I hope you like it as much as we did!

Our small group so enjoyed our New Year’s eve at Plates. The tortellini was amazing, as was the entire meal. They did a great job at keeping all the guests at a safe distance.

We went this past Sunday for brunch it was phenomenal! We sat outside and they had heaters. Tables were distanced on the patio. We split the crab cake Benedict and the Belgian waffles and the food was so delicious. We also had the deviled eggs which were great too. Our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu! All in all a wonderful brunch and would highly recommend.

Chef Dave is a food genius. This is our favorite restaurant in Raleigh and there are a lot of outstanding restaurants in Raleigh. Taylor, our waitress, provided excellent suggestions and took great care of us. We will be back soon!!!

This met and exceeded all of our expectations! This wasn’t our first experience here but it was our first experience in almost two years, so it has only gotten better with time! We couldn’t decide between 3 entrees all we ordered 3 and shared them. We are excited to get back before Christmas to try the rest of the entrees! The experience from when we walked onto the patio until we stepped off to leave was unparalleled. All social measures and masks were used to keep everyone safe and the tables were spaced nicely and keeping all social distancing in mind. So glad that our first experience eating our post pandemic was at Plates!

Have been eating here since they opened but had not been by since the Rona. Had a nice outdoor table and the short rib fettuccine was the best dish I have had. Relaxed competent staff.

The food was absolutely amazing! Chef Dave really takes pride in his food and it shows. The mushrooms & barrata were delicious as well as the scallops and sticky toffee pudding. Ill go back as often as I can!

I can’t recommend Plates enough! I got the shrimp and grits with a side waffle and both were so tasty. The portions were satisfying and I had plenty of shrimp and grits to take home. My friends got the crab cakes and the Lion cake sandwich which were awesome too. Also, the staff is so inviting and friendly. It’s the best place to have brunch!
