   Great, old-school Italian restaurant -- a New Orleans classic! The main menu has the old favorites (I had the veal piccata -- it was perfect), and they had some new takes on the specials menu. My wife is gluten and dairy free, and the kitchen was able to accommodate her with a wonderful meal.

   Menu seems dated, food was average. Seems like everything needs an update. Salad was mostly floppy lettuce and some canned artichokes and olives. Gumbo was watery and arrived with no sausage or chicken. Mozzarella app was super salty and the ratio of cheese to breading was too high so it was soft and not pleasing to eat. Veal piccata had two small pieces of veal and sauce was disappointingly bland, and pasta with meatballs was fine but meatballs were dry. Server was very pleasant and dishes came out quickly.

   All of the diners seemed to be located in one room to make service more efficient, but it still wasn’t great. The waiters and staff were working, but not a lot of management seemed to be present in the room where we were, which led to poor water service, poor bread service and long waits for the check. The food was fine, but probably not good enough to make us come back for the price point, given the service deficiencies.

   I love this gem of a restaurant. It’s a classic New Orleans spot making delicious traditional dishes. Everyone should go here for some raw oysters and their iconic bbq shrimp-best not wear a white shirt.
