The maitre’d was so busy with phone customers we took 2nd place. A line began to form and we were rescued and told sitting outside Was unattainable for a party of four even with reservations.
We sat inside with a view outside through open doors.
We shared the smoked trout appetizer. It was very tasty and well thought out.
Three of us had the potato and watercress soup. We were well satisfied with it. It is very good.
The Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley was very well matched with all we ordered.
My roasted chicken was very satisfying. My wife loved the salmon. Our friends were happy with the pappardelle pasta and the roasted chicken.
Each couple shared a Mont Blanc...Merci...
As always, we had an excellent dinner at Paragary's. Great food, a wonderful patio and good company. What more could you want? Plus, the dinner is a bargain compared to other higher-end restaurants in the region.
Another amazing meal. One of Sacramentos best!!!
We had a perfectly lovely seat, looking outside with the doors open for the lovely air. The steelhead trout was delicious, just like salmon!
Consistently good food and service. They are fairly kid friendly but still an upscale place to dine.
Such a charming place with a gorgeous patio area, and the food was very very delicious! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Definitely going back!
This restaurant never disappoints. The food is excellent - everything from appetizers, to main course to dessert. Friendly staff, energetic vibe. It's my favorite place to dine when I'm in Sacramento.
Our waitress was very slow and inattentive. We had to wait over 30 min. from the time we asked for our bill. Otherwise our meals were delicious. I love the energy of the restaurant and bar.
I love their mushroom and Jarlsburg salad. Steak was tender and tasty. Service was attentive but not suffocating. We sat indoors but could see the outdoor dining area which was attractive and added to the relaxing ambiance. It was a very nice evening.
Overall we had a pleasant dinner. The
Waitress was training a waiter very unobtrusively. However entree took quite a while & I wondered if this was the reason. The special appetizer Gravlox tasted fishy. Four of us had a bite & no more. The pasta dishes were the best part. Also the bread. Salad greens were a little overdressed. Still, I would return. I would just have the pasta, bread, & wine.
Although reserved well in advance and recieved remonders, woman at front couldnt find my name. Party of 4, three of whom ordered the sole. Waiter came back in awhile and said they only had enough sole for one so we had to reorder. Staff was basically friendly though
Paragary's is an excellent place for dinner. I recommend a reservation and if the weather is nice request the outside patio. It has fountains and a fireplace along with overhead heaters.
The menu is authentic and very good. We had the Salmon flatbread special. It had plenty of Salon and was about 6-8 good size pieces ...easy to share. We also had the Cauliflower Fritters...these are a must! If you aren't a fan of cauliflower try this still!
Excellent varied salads as well and we shared the Mushroom salad. All Mushrooms, on a bit of lettuce with Shaved cheese and a vinaigrette. If you like mushrooms this is a good twist.
Entrees were good as well. We had the Steelhead special and the Sole. Both fish were cooked perfectly and very flavorful.
Great Desserts too! Corkage is $25 but the wine list is broad and affordable. The bar is a good scene and has numerous specialty mixologist possibilities.
The setting at Paragary's is delightful, with an amazing patio containing fire and water elements. The service was good, although the food took a little while to come. For our appetizer, the meat and cheese plate was a bit underwhelming, with only 2 cheeses. Our entrees generally met expectations, but the steelhead special was a bit fishy and is the main reason we did not give a higher rating.
Very disappointed--both for service and food. Our group of four ordered the tagliatelle pasta (with duck), pan seared petrale sole, sausage pizza and mussels. We also ordered the cured meats and artisan cheeses appetizer. The appetizer was good although the 2 cheeses were not really artisan. The sole had bones which was VERY unexpected and alarming and the sauce was bland. The tagliatelle was dry and lacked any flavor. The pizza was severely burned (top and bottom) and simply put was not something either the cooking staff or the waiter should have allowed to the table. The mussels were overcooked and flavorless. To their credit, the waitress took off the charge for the pizza and and corkage (a steep $25 per bottle), however when 2 of 4 meals were fundamentally flawed it warrants a visit from the manager. The waitress was nice and we don't blame her for the sub par food (she did not deliver the burnt pizza), but we were repeatedly left waiting for vast stretches of time. It was a solid 15 minutes after the fourth group member sat that she reappeared to take drink orders. We poured our own wine refills. She did not show for 20 minutes after the food arrived to check on us. We sat for another 20+ after the staff took the food away before she showed up again. We simply lost interest in dessert or coffee.
All around a disappointing meal. We have had wonderful meals there in the past, so we hope it was just and off night and a overly busy staff.
Service was amazing
Food was amazing!!
Service was great and food was delicious and very fresh. We had a great dinner before heading to theater nearby.
My husband and I read about this site while looking for a close place after a day of work in Sacramento. What a great neighborhood find! We loved the locale. Very cute bistro type older building with wonderful old olive trees on the patio. We weren't able to sit on the patio but were next to it with an open wall. Beautiful waterfalls and fireplaces made it lovely to watch! Absolutely order the meatballs as a starter. So tasty with a very nice accent. Everything was great.
Wonderful dinner and excellent table service! Enjoyed it thoroughly
Easter Brunch, so there was a special menu. Food was excellent as always. Service was great.
We were up in Sacramento visiting our daughter that attends Sac State and had Track/Field Meet Easter weekend....Saturday I googled Easter Brunch and was able to make reservations for Easter Sunday...
All three of us were taken back with the decore and ambience...Everybody was so nice, the brunch selection was excellent ....the food was amazing... such a nice and surprising find...
We will visit again and we highly recommend !!!
I personally feel a quality restaurant needs to have great cocktails and Paragary's is lacking here. There are a lot of things I can point out that go in the negative column, but the signature cocktails definitely need to be revamped. That would be a good start.
Fabulous dinner with the family. I hadn’t been to the restaurant since they redecorated. Loved the ambiance, particularly the patio area. The food was outstanding as was the service. We will definitely be going back soon.
Gorgeous patio dining. Wonderful service. Amazing food and drinks. Always a fantastic time.
Fantastic meal! We've dined here many, many times but this night the food and service exceeded our expectations. I hope they continue this tradition!
Great food, atmosphere and service. Love the patio!!
Food is always superb. Service is usually very good but "David" was not at all.
The meal was very good, the only thing I wasn’t impressed with were the cauliflower fritters.
Food was ok. Trout salad underwhelming. The waiter never checked on us after the food arrived except to give us the bill.
Brunch. Service is mediocre at best. Staff is not engaged, warm or efficient. Minimal eye contact. So slow.
Great food, excellent service, and warm, stylish atmosphere. A really nice meal!
I had very good service. There was a huge party of 20+ In front of me but I got my meal promptly. I had the Petrale sole.
Well, I must first say that we enjoyed a fabulous dinner a week ago on a Saturday night.....great food and great service !!!! Fast forward to this past Sunday night.....Ny girlfriend and I had a 5pm reservation .....We informed them that we were going to the Broadway Show at 7:30.....all was good....plenty of time to relax and eat !!!! First off they have 2 Pinot Moirs by the glass .....they were out of one .....so we went with the other....one full glass came and o e half glass came ....which was on the house because that was all they had!!! A early 5pm Sunday dinner and the restaurant was already out of Pinot Noir by the glass.....We had ordered the pork chop for dinner and sbout 20 minutes after we ordered our waiter came to tell us that the pork chop would not be ready in time so we should order something else .....we ordered the steak entree and it came at 6:35......we chowed quickly and then asked to box up the leftovers and to bring the check.......we finally got out of the restaurant at 7:10.......it was a very stressful rush to the theater.....happy news is that we made it just barely with 4 minutes to spare!!!!!
I think I’ll give this restaurant a rest for awhile 😊
It was our first visit. We enjoyed the food, the special of the day, and the dessert.
Our server was very kind and helpful
Food and service is always good when seated in the restaurant however whenever we sit at the bar just for a drink the bartenders seem overwhelmed and not friendly
We have been to Paragary's many times for all meal-times, however we had tickets to a show this particular evening. Our reservations were for 7:00pm however we weren't even seated until 7:30pm so right out of the gate, we were running late. We ordered an appetizer, a soup, a salad and two entrees. The entrees arrived and we both look perplexed at the dish that sat in front of us claiming to be 'Tagliatelle'. First, it was not tagliatelle pasta, not even close. It tasted more like over-cooked ramen noodles that were thin, limp and overcooked. We asked our waiter and he insisted the pasta was Tagliatelle. Again... it was not. I wouldn't even call it pasta, it was a mushy noodle of some sort. Due to the very unappetizing dinner we received we opted not to have dessert and probably wouldn't have been able to regardless... since we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time and now running behind. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience and probably won't be back unless we hear the kitchen has decided to brush up on their 'pasta' shapes and update their recipes. Bad, overcooked, mushy, ramen -noodle posing as pasta is unforgivable in our book. Sorry Paragarys....we used to love you. :(
We chose Paragary's for a birthday dinner. The food was amazing - we had a variety of items from the menu and all of the flavor combinations were delicious. The wine was very good too and paired well with the cheese platter and our meals. Our after dinner drinks were fabulous and the service was great. The whole experience overall was memorable for all the right reasons.
Not our best experience at Paragary’s . The check in station was in disarray with a gentlemen who was obviously confused about his reservation. Two gentlemen tried for several minutes to help him to no availe. In the meantime a young lady just listened rather than help us. When she finally did it took her several minutes to deside where to seat us. We told several people we had theather reservation and our table was marked with a square saying B street ( there are other theaters in town!). Inspire of the marking service was slow. I had to remind server twice to bring water. The gentlemen who finally brought the meals has no idea who to serve them to, come on two pork chops and two fish, to two men and two women! Final comment , the cold cous cous did not compliment the meal. We’ll probably be back because of location but we’ll come alone. Like I said not our best experience here. Sharon Helmar
It's been years since I've been to Paragary's. They used to have great food, ample amounts and you left feeling you had a good expericence and value. They have changed ...a lot. The service was great, the place beautiful, but the food was almost non-existent. For $26 I got a piece of dover sole that was maybe three inches long, with maybe four tablespoons of some sort of quinoa. I was shocked... a giant white plate with a three, maybe four- inch diameter of food. It was good, but come on...not that good. And their cheesecake was a pudding on a biscuit or cracker crust of some sort. And that was ten dollars, and also small. I wasn't looking for Hometown, but I hate getting ripped off. The bar was nice, and my wife liked her drink. So maybe it's only good for that. To be fair, the staff their is excellent.
Excellent food and service as always! The winter menu includes a Celery Root Ravioli that I am going back for before the menu changes.
The service was excellent!!!! our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable of what we all should get for dinner!! thank you for everything
