Food was nice but very unusual set up, not for me
Delicious food served in a relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend tasting a range of the hot and cold dishes. We experienced some new flavours and combinations. Delicious!
Second time visiting Ottolenghi - we ate on Friday early evening so it was always going to be extremely busy. Because the restaurant is geared towards mainly communal tables, it also seemed very noisy this time round. However the food was just fantastic again, and the service was also brilliant. Wholeheartedly recommend coming here, perhaps choose a day where there is more likely to be slightly fewer people and a little less noise. Or if you like that sort of thing, Fridays are for you!
Sensational food and service. I’m not exaggerating!!
Wonderful way to spend our Valentine’s Day. The service was thoughtful and attentive.
Slightly let down by the radicchio salad, which was a little mean on the portion of goats cheese and flavour combination a little unbalanced. Other than that, the menu was divine and the meal was a real treat!
Exceptional food tapas style with some incredible vegetarian dishes. Communal table was acceptable for a date.
Lovely evening for my son’s 21st. Food excellent as ever and the best staff I’ve encountered in a London restaurant for a while added to our pleasure. Thanks
Great staff. My wife’s birthday. Staff were v good about that
Always enjoy everything to do with Ottolenghi and we had a great dinner there with friends. The logistics of the long table can be a little confusing, I like the principle of it but the practicalities can be awkward when you're already in a big group and need to share it with others. But I'll be back as the food is divine.
My partner and I had a lovely evening that did not disappoint despite my high expectations. The ambiance and service were lovely--casual but special, simple but elegant. We enjoyed four shared dishes, two from the deli menu and two warm, and the rose wine. The fennel in a couple of dishes took me back to my San francisco days! The dishes were all well-balanced, with our favorite being the cuttlefish which was cooked so the sweet meats were slightly caramelized. We took home the rhubarb clafoutis and the flourless chocolate cake--both good, and the latter outstanding.
Amazing service and the food is simply one of the best experiences I had in months
Outstanding food, service. Exceptional quality, a real treat.
A long awaited treat for me
Liked the setting and the welcome was warm and friendly
Great service throughout the meal
Wonderful food great combinations and choices
Loved every mouthful
Several of the dishes were memorably tasty - so much so that i ordered a second round
The food is tapas, which isn’t made clear, very small plates at £12 to £13 each. It turns out , a recommendation of 3 to 4 each is the case. Very expensive tapas. I have never seen such small portions, more like a tasting menu, the ingredients of the dishes are hard to spot or taste. Hype and spin and dishes not balanced.
This was an incredible meal. All the different tastes. The menu is amazing and very difficult to choose. I ended up going the following night with other people and it was just as delicious
There used to be a much more interesting choice of food. I had mackerel which was sloppy rather than crispy. The beef carpaccio had areas that were unchewable. When I asked where this beef was from the waiter could not tell me and just kept repeating the brand name. The best dish was the cauliflower. Tasting my friend's carrot dish proved disappointingly bland. Where is the tahini and the Middle Eastern influence that marked out this restaurant at its birth?
Superb in all regards. Highly recommended. Original dishes, interesting flavors, excellent service at a reasonable price. Sorry there isn’t one in my neighborhood.
Glorious food, fantastic vegetarian options. Perfect ambience and spot on friendly service. Great value for the exquisite standard of food and wine
My husband and I went to the restaurant for his late birthday meal. The food was absolutely delicious, definitely recommend the mackerel and the baked cauliflower. We sat on a communal table which was ok but if I was to book again I would like a table just for the 2 of us.
There was a bit of a meltdown whilst we were there, short staffed maybe, food was taking over an hour to arrive and then in only one or two dishes at a time. However, the staff managed things incredibly well and the food was excellent as always, so it did not spoil our evening.
Food bursting with complex flavours, whether a veggie or a meat eater the vegetable is celebrated! And service was exceptional, friendly, personal, and efficient.
We thought we could find more variety in vegan meals. We loved the fennel and the coalflower.
Great dishes, especially gluten-free and vegetarian options, staff very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients, and ensured all food was gluten-free. Perfect wine recommendations.
seating could be less cramped- I don’t mind the communal tables but the seats should be spaced out more.
Lives up to the hype, great service, delicious food I'll be back!
The food is imaginative and delicious as you would expect. But this branch suffers in comparison with Spitalfields or Rovi because of the limitations of the narrow space, which has been filled with a long communal table. This is too wide for couples to comfortably sit across from each other, and the place settings are somewhat crowded. Combined with a preponderance of hard surfaces, and a clientele that can be a little self-important, you get a potentially very noisy atmosphere, rather at odds with the subtlety of the food. If you can get one of the few tables for two, fine, otherwise this branch is hard to wholeheartedly recommend.
Excellent food on the whole. Pretty reasonable prices.
It was my birthday and I enjoyed the meal and experience very much The staff was friendly and the food was delicious.
lovely food and worth the visit. If you don't like sharing the long tables then specify your own table when booking
Ottolenghi has been my favourite restaurant for years and it continues to be. I love it and the service is always absolutely brilliant.
Casual, not too loud that you can't hear the person across from you. The communal tables aren't annoying as can happen in other restaurants, you aren't elbow to elbow. Just watch your knees if you get seated next to a table leg... I saw stars when I banged mine on it. Food... the veggies were the stars of the show, though the pork belly was a very close second! Our desserts were good ( we picked 3 different chocolate centric ones) but we all felt that they were a bit on the dry side. Overall, worth the trip to that side of town.
We really enjoyed our meal at Ottolenghi Islington. The food was great and our server was really helpful and attentive. We will be returning.
Constantly diverse interesting flavours. Never disappointed
Loved how fresh and delicious the food was, service was friendly and a lovely atmosphere
Nothing ‘everyday’ about dining at Ottolenghi- always special and always delicious
Spoilt for choice of exquisite tasty dishes, ideal for sharing with fellow foodies. Second to none service in a chic setting. Definitely coming back for more.
First time I have been but thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful pre theatre dinner with 2 friends. Very helpful and friendly staff. An air conditioner above us was just too cool for comfort and it was adjusted immediately with a promise of a different table if it was was still a problem. It wasn't.
I have bought a number of Yotam's books and have enjoyed cooking from them all so I have been keen to try the real thing for a long time. It didn't disappoint and in fact exceeded my expectations. Will certainly make a return visit. Thank you to everyone for making our dining experience so enjoyable.
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Efficient service.
We went before going to Sadlers Wells - Food was great and service excellent...quite expensive when you take in to account the number of dishes/plates you need.
