Ottolenghi Islington is both a deli and restaurant, seating about 50 guests. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, however reservations are taken only for dinner from 5:30pm – try to make it extra early if you are planning on a weekend brunch. Most of the tables are communal but there are a handful of tables for two. The restaurant is located opposite the Almeida and is a pre-theatre favourite.

Thoroughly delicious meal and very inventive cuisine. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere. We are huge fans of The Yotam Ottolenghi style food. Love My only criticism would be that some of the wines on the list are too young to drink, especially the Italian ones. But that’s only because I work in wine! That aside we would definitely come again :-)

Excellent food and service - as a new customer, I didn't realise it would be communal seating.

I am afraid we were disappointed with this restaurant. The food is tapas style but large portions of each thing, the flavours were ok, perhaps a little bland and would have preferred less of each thing but more dishes (we had three each and left about a third) The service was fantastic, the interior a little noisy and not conducive to a romantic meal for two. It is probably very popular with young people but at £110 for a meal for two I would prefer to eat somewhere more relaxed and more conventional food.

The food is always of a high quality and very imaginative. The freshness of the ingredients and the mixture of flavours and textures makes Ottolenghi an enjoyable experience. I must also commend the quality of service and the friendliness of the staff.

Ottolenghi feels a bit dated in its approach but some of the food is lovely and the service is absolutely excellent. Be aware that you may be seated at the large, shared, long table down the centre. I am a big fan of many restaurants started by ex-Ottolenghi chefs, as I think they’ve broken out of the shell and become more bold. Still, Ottolenghi Islington is an excellent neighbourhood restaurant with polite food that won’t offend your mother and all-white interiors courtesy of the mid-naughties. What’s not to like? Also, it’s pretty decent value!

Date night on a Monday - was not expecting such a vibrant busy spot. I knew nothing about this place. I was really pleasantly surprised.

Friendly service at table & also at front of house where you can buy ingredients to cook at home.

Dishes were unique and the variety was excellent. Usually meat eaters but today stuck to veg & fish.
Recommend GUJARATI beans & celeriac main

Hake was excellent too. Explosion of tastes with every bite. Would DEFINITELY come back

Wir haben sehr fein gegessen. Das Dessert war der krönende Abschluss. Unbedingt Platz lassen für den Persischen Love Cake.
Die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns gut beraten zur Speiseauswahl.

Liked everything except the cabrito goat stew which had a burnt taste and very tough, meat not edible, though the butter beans in the stew were nice.
Stunners were the sweet potato salad dish and the carpaccio, and the coconut lemon cake, so good!
The Orange Caliptra 2017 wine was especially lovely.

Outstanding experience. The cauliflower and aubergine were great, strongly recommend the goat and hake and the service was superb. Ask for Yesi to serve you. He is very attentive and makes spot on recommendations. Loved the semolina cake with rose water and pistachios!! This place is not to miss!! Even the manager cares about the patrons.

It was lovely but I was disappointed that the vegan menu (printed up and presented separately to the other menu) was just some things off the normal menu with the cheese or yoghurt removed. Surely Ottolenghi with all his talent can do better than that?

Its a very special restaurant - many of the criteria above are not relevant - it is very Islington - so middle class but relatively diverse in terms of personnel - gender friendly smart causal - focus is on the food and company rather than live music or meeting new people

We had a delicious and memorable dinner on our last night in London. Our service was outstanding and our server was personable, professional and knowledgeable. We had the little gems, Hake, goat, cauliflower and carrot cake. We had one of the tables for two. Most people sit at a long table. There is candlelight. We would love to return and to experience one of the other Ottolenghi restaurants

Ottolenghi is a very cosy restaurant. You have the feeling to be at a private dinner party sitting on the beautiful long table. The service is friendly and professional but not over the top. The concept is to order several cold and warm dishes for the table. The portions are big enough to share in a group of four. Value for money was very good and after all the healthy main dishes it was feeling even better to try some of the fantastic desserts.

Fantastic staff.
Very fresh quañity ingredients cooked to perfection. And healthy!
Imaginative treatment of spices, condiments and vegetables.
Communal tables are a great idea in principle to exchange views on the food experience with strangers and to develop a convivial atmosphere... but there were mainly couples seated facing each other and logically ignoring the rest. If this is the norm, communal tables are not needed.
Great experience though.

We visited the Ottolenghi-restaurant on a friday-evening and were surprised to see the garbage had to be taken out while the guests were dining. One of the staff passed us 5(!) times with rubbish in bags. Also the floor was swept with a broom. The food was delicious and we loved the combinations that were made. But... we had to ask for a new plate after starters. Otherwise we would have had our maincourse on the same plate.

The food at Ottolenghi Islington is amazing. For us as vegetarians there were so many delicious dishes we could choose. The restaurants is a bit noisy with two large tables in the centre seating a lot of people, so if you're looking for good conversations it might not be the best place to go to.

The ambiance and service was wonderful. The staff was trying to accommodate us, and our dietary requirements in a professional manner. The food however was nothing special, most things tasted ok but were not mind blowing. For the price I would definitely just go for the take away salad’s instead of dining in the restaurant.
