Love Oak -- it's our favorite restaurant and we always take friends and family here when they are visiting. Oak is our staple go-to place for all things celebrations!
The NY strip is worth every penny paid. Food quality and execution overall is outstanding. Superb flavors.
Oak is consistently excellent. There cocktails are also among the most creative in the city
The lamb dish was shaved, almost like a lunch meat, and was dry. It was not like any other lamb I've ever had, and not in a good way. The portion was quite small, maybe 2-3 ounces, for a $42 entree. It was disappointing to say the least.
The sea bass was really impressive--very delicately flavored, very tender, The portion size was also small, but at least the flavor and presentation made up for it.
The octopus appetizer was a bit tough, but well-flavored and nicely presented.
The wine list is extensive, but they have no low-sulfite, organic or biodynamic wines by the glass, so if you want some healthier wines, you have to pop for $70+ per bottle.
Overall I have a lot of compassion for restauranteurs, as the pandemic has been hard on them. At the same time, quality should match the significant price increases we've seen across the board at almost all restaurants.
I absolutely love Oak! The menu is consistently interesting, I love the cocktails there, and the desserts are always amazing! We especially enjoyed the chocolate cobbler. Our waiter Tristan was a delight and the social distancing protocols were upheld beautifully. Definitely recommend this place for an upscale date night!
Always a great date spot! The food, ambiance and service is always on point! Tristan is the best!
Typically the service at Oak is exceptional. The server in this case seemed newer and inexperienced and of course it's always a challenge when they have to talk through a mask so we appreciate that effort was certainly made by the server however it was not the refined service we've had in the past.
Food was great.. portions a bit on the light side though.
Per usual, a great evening at Oak. Thank you so much Oak team!
Had a fantastic meal Saturday night at Oak, it’s consistently great. Our waiter was attentive, but also respectful of a relaxed pace so we never felt rushed.
The 15 oz NY steak was a standout because it is refreshingly seasoned and different!
Great food Great service.
The food was amazing, but even better, our server, Cat, was fantastic! Hope to visit again soon :)
It’s a challenge sometimes to get a table at the Oak with the COVID seating limitations, especially on a Friday night, so plan early. We got an early reservation which was fine. The olive oil whipped ricotta was an amazing app to share, and entrees braised lamb and NY strip were both excellent. Speaking as one who usually avoids Brussels sprouts whenever possible, the sprouts with Caesar vinaigrette served with the strip were a deal changer for me, and worthy of a photo sent to a granddaughter to prove I can eat sprouts. Most restaurants are still cutting back on menu selections and the Oak is no different. Would be nice to see some additional desert items, but truthfully following cocktails, wine and a really grand dinner, we needed to pass on desert anyway. The waitstaff provided first class service as usual. Looking forward to returning soon.
THE FOOD WAS SO SALTY THAT ONE COULD BARELY TASTE THE MEAT! I WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING FEELING LIKE A WHALE FROM SO MUCH SALT. TOO BAD AS IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE MEAL THAT COULD HAVE BEEN LOVELY. GREAT SERVICE THOUGH.
A little disappointed that some of my classic favorites (shaved Brussel sprouts, meatballs) were not on the paired down menus, but the food was still excellent. Kales apple salad was amazing as was the sweet potato gnocchi.
Excellent cocktails and consistently good food. Love the kale-apple salad.
As always oak was an incredible experience. Time and time again blown away! Couldn’t be happier with our experience!
This was only our second time going to Oak but both times we've been quite impressed with the service, and quality of food both times. The menu isn't huge but everything on it is spectacular! Would recommend for a special occasion dinner.
Restaurant and kitchen staff too busy with takeout orders to focus on dining in customers. An hour between appetizers and entrees; entrees undercooked and lacking in flavor. Such a shame a formerly fab Boulder restaurant has lost focus.
I have been here in the past and it was really great! I don't know how the quality has gone so downhill. Covid or No covid! This last experience was completely off. Our service was not great, had to practically beg for service and to get drinks - the building was freezing, thermostat above our table was set at 59, we had to wear our winter coats the entire meal - music was blasting the f-bomb and food was so-so. For a meal that was over $240 so disappointing! There are so many great options in Boulder that this will definitely be our last time at Oak.
Eric, the sommelier and host was outstanding. Our waiter, Mike did a great job as well.
Then there was the food. Fantastic. Started with the sweet potato wontons. Unbelievable. Then had the soup. Amazing. All the entrees were great as well. However, I would say the NY Strip was enough for two and I’m a big eater.
Our best meal in many months, with really great service to match. Thank you Oak!
Service was really bad and it’s surprising since there are only a few tables now. The food (don’t order the lamb unless you’re expecting a pile of mushy meat on top of a pile of mush). I read the menu wrong and thought when I ordered lamb it would be lamb chops. It’s more like mushy lamb stew. Looked disgusting.
Wine by the list menu is weak.
Usually amazing, but fell flat this time. Cocktails are always as still the best, though!
Very good food & excellent customer service!
We’ve been to Oak several times over the last 3.5 years. Always looked forward to a delicious meal and drinks. Tonight’s experience wasn’t good. It took over 20 min for our waiter to take our drink order. They apologized but the service continued to be not up to par. The food wasn’t very flavorful. Overall very disappointing. The best think was the cocktails and the chocolate/root beer dessert. Can’t believe they charge 24% gratuity which I usually pay due to Covid but definitely not deserved tonight. Won’t be going back anytime soon!
It was frustrating there was no outdoor seating. Also a very limited menu
Always a favorite! Glad to be able to be back at Oak. The burger was to die for.
Oak is one of my favorite restaurants, however my last dining experience did not deliver. Food was not exceptional although the service was.
I always enjoy the food, drink, and service at Oak!
They’re back, hurray! Awesome scallops and wontons.
The Pork Shoulder was awesome.
Food was amazing, especially the tempura fried sweet potatoes, which we had not planned on getting until our server suggested it. So glad he did. It was our favorite. And the hamachi crudo.. mmmm!
And the service, wow. Our server, Richard, could not have been nicer or more personable, especially knowing that he was about to be out of a job in a day, as the restaurant was closing due to COVID. Make sure to keep him on your staff.
Awesome dinner. Will be back.
Food was fabulous! Server was awesome - especially considering the front of house was being furloughed due to covid! I can’t wait to go back! We will order take out until they fully reopen.
Everything was great start to finish
Excellent service, great cocktails and the food was phenomenal.
OAK will always adapt and overcome, even with a limited in house dining during a global pandemic. The anniversary menu did not disappoint. Every bite was just as I remembered. Keep at it. Your efforts and passion do not go unnoticed. Stay safe and healthy, team OAK.
Oak is so delicious every time we eat there or get take out. This was our first time dining in since Covid. We got lucky to be able to order from their 10 year anniversary menu. Yum! Fried pickles. Meatballs. Kale salad. Steak. Hamachi. We love Oak.
Craig, Noga and team, thank you for the special dinner. My family was very pleased with the level of professionalism and COVID consideration. The food is always something I brag about, yesterday was no different. Thank you!
Both food and service were amazing!
