Maury, Alex, and Chef John were wonderful. Thank you for a great evening.
Amazing food. The new dishes on the menu are great.
Our server was amaZing. The food was unreal as always.
Good food. Very attentive staff.
Outstanding food—every item. Friendly, attentive service. Comfortable, but a bit loud inside. The caliber of the food would suggest you’re in a more expensive restaurant.
The food was prepared with quality ingredients and was very delicious.
Great as always!
Food was too salty to eat. They did offer to fix, but should not have to ask. Chef should know what food tastes like prior to setving. Could not taste anything but an excessive coating of salt in everything.
First - I have been coming to Oak forever and have always just loved everything about it. I am hoping that the issues were temporary and COVID startup related...
Cocktails were good but ordering and delivery was slow. ~20 mins from the time we sat down to the first one. And that with the restaurant not very full. Double ordering after the first one solved the issue.
My main entree pork chop was just basically - a really bad piece of meat ... almost impossible to chew. Sent it back and ordered the burger. It was two of those thin, preformed (?) patties. Didn't strike me as what should have been going on in an expensive restaurant.
The server was maybe new? They seemed sincere, but were not really attentive and on it. When the manager came over re: the pork chop they were quick and clinical...
As I said at the outset, I hope it is just COVID restart issues, because this has always been a great restaurant. For the prices you just expect a lot more ...
Oak on 14th is our favorite dining spot! The food is always amazing, service is five star and they have a great wine and cocktail list. Highly recommend it!
Oak was great as usual
Delicious food, great service. Appetizers are particularly large portions which is nice!
I have been coming here since Oak opened and we have always been very happy until now. It feels like things have changed for the worse in most ways.
Here were the issues:
Sampled two white wines, one of them was warm
Salty pork entree served luke warm
Salty scallop entree served luke warm
server unable to fully understand that we were unhappy and offered no solution. Did not offer to warm meals. Did not report it to manager. Offered a lemon slice to cut through saltiness and then brought the lemon when there was one bite of food left (scallops). Poor interaction with management on the way out the door. No solution offered, just an apology.
Requesting gift card for value of the meal so Oak can try again.
Feel free to call and resolve.
Amazing food and service!!
the wine pour was smaller than normal, our waiter was phoning it in (but why should they work hard if all bills are charged 24% automatically that they then split...). My salad was good and my husband's gnocchi was fine. absolutely not worth the pricetag.
Not much for the 24% 'Community Tip'. While I generally leave 20% - 25% anyway and the cost wasn't the issue I am not a fan of some socialist experiment at my expense. Service isn't guaranteed and therefore neither should a tip be.
Also thought it was interesting that the 2 gentlemen who might have been the owners stopped by every table but ours.
But you generally go for the food and ambience and that is what we focused on given it was our anniversary and that met expectations. Don't let the little or annoying things get to you.
Menu has become too small and then they were out of 20% of the items on the menu. Servers wanted to rush us out of there. We were asked within 30 seconds of sitting down what we wanted to order and then the server was annoyed when we told him that we hadn’t even had a chance to pull up the menu. I had the steak which was dry and the sides were terrible. By far the worst meal I’ve ever had at this restaurant. The carrots and onions were raw.
It’s always a great time at Oak. They make outstanding food and every single person working there serves you with a smile. We are so glad this place has weathered the pandemic storm and are still here to serve our community. If you want amazing food served by people who will make you feel comfortable and happy, then this is the place to go.
Exceptional service. Creative, beautiful, and delicious dishes at a great price. Recommend sitting in the main dining room for the full ambiance and experience.
The service was fabulous. One of our party of four did not like his burger & they very kindly did not charge us for it. The rest of the food was excellent.
So sad to be giving this review. Oak is our friend group’s favorite spot, and we were so excited to go for the first time in 24 months. Part of our group wanted to leave when we saw the automatic 24% community fee. We are generous tippers, but we want to have a choice in the matter. Service was quite slow, the miso broth for the scallop dish was thin and watery. The chicken was well-executed and ample. It didn’t live up to our past experiences. Will try again when there is perhaps better rebound from the pandemic struggles.
Amazing food and best service we have ever had in Boulder!!
We were immediately off to a bad start when the hostess insisted on seating us at a high-top ledge instead of the table I reserved. She was completely uninterested in my physical problems that make the placement of my feet on the floor necessary for circulation. Two-top tables meanwhile remained empty throughout our meal and exit. As a bonus, she decided to report us as a no-show, ensuring that we were not asked to submit a review.
As to the food, the menu is simple and well executed, but it in no way compensates for the passive-aggressive demeanor of the hostess, and I will certainly never return, as life is too short, especially considering the numerous alternatives in Boulder.
Always enjoy Oak at 14th, great food.
The servers didn’t know much about the food they were serving. Since you automatically pay a 24% tip you would expect top notch service and this was the opposite. We will not be going back to OAK.
Get the chicken. By far some of the best chicken I have ever had.
Oak always has amazing food. We have been going there for years. This was our first night back in person at a restaurant since February 2020 (ie before the pandemic shut down). The food was amazing as expected but service very lack luster. It took 30 minutes to get our drink order and we had to ask for it after the appetizer came. The waiter came back to ask how the app was and asked if we wanted to order food after we'd already given them our food order. Then we sat there 40 more minutes waiting on our main course. We finally asked about the main course and the waiter said, oh, I'll fire it now. So then it was 20 minutes more to get the food, so 1 hr 50 min into our stay we got our main course. The food was wonderful but having to pay automatic 24% tip was a little rough after we were starving.
Trying to give the benifit of the doubt but experience was subpar. The new menu lacked interest. Main complaint is directly related to table management and care. I know they are trying their best but appetizers came before cocktails. Entree was cold by the time wine was delivered to the table. Bummer.
The rotisserie chicken, piri piri, was amazing. It will be a different restaurant without the grill but the food was wonderful, the service great and it remains a favorite.
Oak is the best, as always! Thank you for a great meal.
We had a very nice evening. After such a long break.
We celebrated our Buffs graduation in Boulder with a wonderful dinner at the Oak at fourteenth. It was such a lovely meal and the food, service and evening was perfect , thank you!
Nice people , great kitchen, call ahead and get a table.
Excellent service & great food!
We eat at Oak every time we are in Boulder. We were quite disappointed with the very slow service we received. It was not what we would expect from a nicer restaurant. And not in line with our previous visits. Food was good, but limited in menu choices. Considering the restaurant was half capacity, we would expect stellar service since there were way less patrons. Also, since they include auto 24% tip in bill now, we expect service to a certain level.
Wonderful experience! Oak is doing a great job with Covid precautions.
I don’t ever write reviews, but oak deserves a glowing 5 stars. Everything we order was beyond our expectations. Oak is the best restaurant in Boulder, CO.
Both of our entrees were delicious. Was so impressed that our server was prepared with recommendations for my odd food allergy. It was a wonderful dining experience
1st post vaccine dinner!
Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Oak. Great service, well executed food and ample spacing between tables to make sure everyone felt comfortable. Would really recommend this as a great place for a special dinner or for a Tuesday night where you want to treat yourself a little bit.
