NOLA is chef/restaurateur Emeril Lagasse’s casual eatery in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. Open since 1992, the critically-acclaimed restaurant fuses traditional Creole, Acadian and Southern cuisine with global influences. Chef de Cuisine Philip Buccieri works closely with Chef Emeril to create an innovative menu showcasing rustic Louisiana cooking with local ingredients and some ethnic twists. The three-story restaurant features an open-action kitchen, chef’s food bar and a signature wood-fired brick oven. NOLA was renovated in 2017 and is now open daily at 11:30 am serving one menu for lunch and dinner.
When all of the staff wears jeans something is just not right!
The service was great. The food was amazing. One person ordered the short ribs. It must have came from a dinosaur it was so big. Great to actually get jambalaya that is the real thing. Go for the frog legs as an appetizer. Remarkably tender!
Uneven service and food was Kay but not what we would expect from Emeril restaurant. Probably wouldn’t go back.
We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and had to wait 15 minutes for our table. We ordered a drink at the bar and waited 5 minutes for a bartender to take our order even though there were two bartenders behind the bar and the bar was at 25% capacity. We were shown up to our table as soon as we got our drinks. The wait staff was efficient but I've seen more amiable staff at restaurants in NYC! The food was disappointing. My wife and I started with the crab cake appetizer, which turned out to be one small cake that was over-breaded and over cooked. I then had the smoked short rib while my wife had the shrimp and grits. The short rib was also over cooked and lacking in any discernible seasoning. My wife also said that the shrimp and grits was rather insipid. We didn't bother with dessert. Overall, from everything we had heard, NOLA was a bust for us.
great food. creative dishes. they were very friendly and seated us early. they were great.
It was very difficult to make a decision on what to order. We trusted our wait staff for recommendations and they did not disappoint. Everything we had was amazing. Would highly recommend NOLA for some authentic Louisiana cuisine.
Great food, great service. I had the crab cake. Best I ever had!
Nola is consist with great food and service. Everyone in our party of seven was thrilled with everything!
We had a beautiful lunch on the balcony of NOLA. Very beautiful , food was awesome at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend.
They really do pack you into this restaurant. It’s actually borderline uncomfortable to have an intimate conversation with your date because someone’s back was literally inches from mine. Waitstaff had to literally squeeze in just to serve. Waitstaff not very attentive. Had to wait for drink refills and mixed drink was pricey and weak. Food was very tasty. We both had the fried chicken and enjoyed it. Also stated that we were celebrating a milestone bday upon making the resv and just got a “happy birthday” at the door upon arrival. An overall underwhelming experience, unfortunately.
We were mildly disappointed with Nola. We based our selection on many very positive reviews. When we arrived, the greeter was not particularly friendly or welcoming. The wait staff was friendly and moved the meal on at a good pace. We had the onion foccacia bread to start, it was doughy and not very distinctive. I had the Drum and my wife the Pork Chop. The Drum was tough and not much flavor, the pork chop was fine, but again not distinctive. Overall it was a nice meal, but not something memorable.
We enjoyed Nola as the food, ambience and service was excellent. It was a bit cold upstairs but otherwise a great experience!
Not as good as other restaurants we visited. We had a large party (7 total). The table was large and round but we felt like we had to talk loudly to hear one another.
The food was not at the level expected of a fine-dining restaurant in New Orleans, particularly for the price. I have had so many better food experiences at other establishments that I have no inclination to give this one another shot.
Never miss a trip to NOLA when we come to New Orleans. Food and wait staff were wonderful as usual. The hostess should consider a career at the driver's license bureau. She would fit right in. Rude
Very disappointed with this restaurant and expected some real good food and fun and got neither. The two waiters were ok, but didn’t feel inviting when they went through the menu. I ordered the special boudin balls and had a classic shrimp and grits and was very disappointed with both and didn’t finish either plate. The Bloody Mary was ok, and my fiancé’s food was way too salty for a standard brick pepperoni pizza. That goodness we ate earlier because we would have been starving. The prices were overall expensive for the food that was brought out. The worst pat of this experience was the fact that they brought out my entree BEFORE my appetizer like 10 mins apart and my fiancé’s food didn’t come out until I basically finished what I could of my meager meal intake. He literally ate one slice and had to drink something right after because of the overpowering salty taste. I’m a New Yorker, so I feel that I know good pizza and I was embarrassed for the restaurant, my fiancé and myself because this was supposed to be our romantic night and thank goodness, we always make the best of it and bounced back eating on Bourbon Street. Never going to any of Emerill’s restaurants again based off this experience.
Fabulous food and service. The filet of beef was delicious as was my soup. Only downside: we were seated in front of a door/window upstairs and it was freezing. Literally felt like a brisk wind! I asked to waiter to put the heat on and he gladly said they would, but it was still very cold and made me want to eat quickly and leave.
This restaurant lives up to its reputation. To start with, the service was excellent. The entire staff was fun, friendly and made the evening enjoyable. We tried a lot of things, but Mama Hayes stuffed chicken wings were truly remarkable. The soup was a little flat but the fried chicken and blackened trout were out of this world. We'll go back again and would recommend you visit too.
The food was excellent. The service was wonderful
This is an excellent restaurant to enjoy food and drinks with the local flair. The food has excellent quality and presentation. The service is professional and friendly. It is the perfect mix of making sure we had everything we needed and not hovering. Raymond & Nick are true professionals and made sure our dinner was absolutely excellent! This is a must frequent!
Cool trendy place!! The service was very good (had two waiters taking care of our table of 7 guests.
For the most part, the food was very good (no complaints from the table). Did feel a little rushed in the beginning and pushed to place orders.
Food was good but nothing exceptional. Quantities are big and the service was pleasant. Not a bad experience but average.
I was a little disappointed in NOLA. We had asked for a balcony seat but it was closed for some reason. I was looking forward to visiting an Emeril Lagasse restaurant. The food was fair but the service took forever. The decor was non existent and we had to move tables because of the noise in one area. Maybe my expectations were too high.
We were really excited to eat here for our first dinner in New Orleans however we ended up waiting over an hour for our food from the time we ordered. No apology, our waiter said multiple times he would check on the food but the food still didn’t come out for a long time. On top of that the food portions were way to small for the price we paid. We left hungry and disappointed. Will definitely not be back.
Terrible service and food was undercooked. Disappointing.
Wife and I had lunch nov 7th I had the gulf fish creole sword fish delicious best I ever had wife had the Nola burger she’s said best burger she ever had for desserts wife had fat Elvis cake very good I had the bread pudding it was excellent also
Great food, perfect service... can’t wait to go back.
1 - Counter seating is cool. Counter seating so close to the wood-burning fire oven that you feel like you're being char-grilled alive is literally so not cool.
2 - We had a hair in our cornbread muffin.
3 - We were still charged for said cornbread muffin.
4 - Dinner took over TWO HOURS. Way too long. Asked multiple times where our food was and got no good ETA or answers.
5 - Both servers we had were SUPER rude and super unengaging. We could not have felt less special or welcome.
6 - Our bill was wrong in 3 places.
So no - we would NOT recommend Nola to a friend, or even to a non friend....
The food was great. The Jambalaya is the most unique we've ever had. Highly recommend it.
The wait staff did a fine job once they got to us. However, I down rated the service because we were served our dinner an hour and 45 minutes after we were seated.
We were immediately and warmly welcomed, and our request for an out-of-the-way table for a business lunch was honored. “AJ” promptly brought requested ice tea and water as well as our paneed pork and jambalaya, both being excellently prepared and plated, and delicious. Zydeco was a bit loud, but not intrusive. We’ll return.
Great service and great food. Would recommend to a friend
One of the best dining experiences ever. We were with clients - what a great impression to make!
One of my favorites. Never disappoints.
great meal. The stuffed wings, crab cake, fried chicken were each amazing . The only weak point in the meal was the creme brûlée for dessert. Our table felt it "tried too hard" and missed the mark.
Eat at Nolas every time we’re in New Orleans. Was totally disappointed that Emeril’s famous banana cream cake wasn’t on the menu. We tried the Fat Elvis cake on waiters recommendation but, just didn’t compare in my books.
Still I’ll be back next year!
One of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans! We had another fabulous meal!
1) We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation. The place was not crowded.
2) After we ordered, we did not recieve our food until two hrs. later. When we expressed our displeasure, the Mgrs. showed up apologizing & we received our food soon after. The Etoufee was terrible.
3) We arrived at 6:45 p.m., & did not get out until 11p.m.
4) We ordered two cocktails. They ran out of our favorite whiskey after 0ne order!
5) This is not your typical Emeril Restaurant. Poor Mgmt., poor service & nothing special about the
food. Worst dining experience YTD. I know Emeril would be seriously ticked if he knew about this. I also noticed 3-4 other parties leave prior to the food arriving.
Will not go back here & Diners beware!
We reserved a table of 4 but were put upstairs on the 3rd floor where they have large parties. We were in a room with one other large group. Was hard not to sleep between the wait for a drink and the absence of music or noise. Food was ok
The garlic crusted drum was ahhhhhhmazing!!!
