Unfortunately, must say that our visit on Mother’s Day was disappointing. We have dined here for many years and have always enjoyed the food and ambiance. We were scrunched into a booth for 2 which only allowed a straight-on view of the river. Somewhat uncomfortable, especially since there was a table at the window which remained empty and then seated a couple 15 minutes before we left. Very annoying… I should have asked for that table but I foolishly assumed it was saved for a party of 4. Service was amiable and professional. Food was disappointing: First course included donut holes which were cold and stale paired with partially ripe strawberries without stems removed… hard to cut. Second course included French toast which was good and salmon Benedict which was excellent. Third course was soup or salad… we enjoyed the soup but it was no show stopper. Fourth course included seafood linguine or lamb chops or gnocchi. We had the lamb chops which were terribly over cooked and the linguine which had a large shrimp and a scallop, plus pieces of overcooked lobster. Although the seafood was reasonable, the sauce was watery and flavorless. Both were a real disappointment. Last was a dry and characterless cheesecake with blueberry compote. We each had a few bites and left the rest. Since it was a special day, we ordered a bottle of wine from a list which was barely adequate. So…. after all is said, we hope that the Inn can find its gastronomic footing in the future so diners can be treated to a special dining experience.
We (3of us) celebrate Mother’s Day special 5 course meals, start with donuts, well donuts are dried can’t even use fork without scrambled then we had salads were very good, main course pasta with see food Not very impressive it looks like noodle soup! We were looking forward for the last one a surprise chef’s desert ... came out as cheesecake... none of us like cheesecake Really???overall very disappointed with meals fortunately the place is very nice and that’s all.
Mother’s Day brinch
We ate Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday May 9th. They were not ready for people who had made 9 am reservations and the food wasn’t good at all. It’s a beautiful place and our server was nice! The food for $65.00 per person totally not worth it. Manny’s or Murray’s steak house does a way better job and the food is delicious! Now we at least know!!
Stayed at the Inn and had a great 40th anniversary meal and stay. I've never seen Lobster Bisque Pot Pie on a menu and it didn't disappoint. My wife had the sea bass and really loved her choice also. I recommend staying and dining there any time.
All around excellent experience. Personable but not invasive service. Fantastic food!
Really enjoyed chatting with server, fun guy.
Great day for lunch on their patio by the river. Appetizer, salad, and entree were fantastic.
Outstanding seafood dishes and a short, but spectacular dessert list. Several wine specials were a really good value. Service was, as always here, impeccable.
Classic celebration food, delicious! Very professional staff and a charming setting. We had a great time!
Just delicious, and perfect for a special lunch.
we thought the food was fantastic. has been improving over the years. location, service and food was great. coffee was a little on the weak side.
A perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! Loved the food, awesome server and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The location was great to enjoy a nice walk before and after dinner!
Always a great experience! Beautiful. Amazing staff, terrific service
Tremendous view of the Mississippi River and fantastic food and service!
We were delighted to be back in this beautiful dining room.
Everything about dining at the NII is unique from the decor to the view and the food. We enjoy their weekend brunch selection and especially the steak and lobster benedict combination, excellent. Service is attentive and cordial. Thanks to the Abdos for enhancing this Minneapolis historical site.
We thoroughly enjoyed the 5 course Easter dinner and service we had at Nicollet island inn.
We went for the pre fixe Easter Brunch and had a wonderful time! It was out first experience at the Nicollet Island Inn. Sweet ambience and very nice staff. We had an excellent brunch and plan to come back for a staycation in the near future!
The Easter Brunch was delicious and served at appropriate intervals. The service was excellent.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world! Food is so good, fancy and not fancy options are all fantastic. They have gone above and beyond to make it safe for visitors. I felt more comfortable than any other restaurant I have been to in the last year. We even saw a beaver next to the water, dinner and a show! Make a reservation today!
Perfect brunch. Wonderful menu and fantastic cocktails. The staff was great, perfect spot anytime of year.
We loved being inside this lovely restaurant after not being inside a restaurant for months. Cozy. Great food. Beautiful view.
This elegant restaurant with beautiful views and wonderful service makes dining a delight!
NII is always a great place to eat. Wonderful setting, great service and great food!
Great atmosphere, views, service, & food.
Great Service and dinner at a historic place.
We had an amazing server, and the entire service team was great. Food was perfect.
We love to celebrate our important events at the Nicollet Island Inn, from our wedding night to our (delayed) 30th anniversary. So happy we are able to enjoy your food and presentation.
Great view and friendly staff.
Excellent food and service. Visiting with an old friend and we were never pressured or rushed.
We had a wonderful attentive server she did a wonderful job, the restaurant is very charming but the food lacks creativity, there is bacon in the majority of the dishes, which is really over kill, this menu could also use a few vegetarian items.
Excellent food our dinners were amazing! Beautiful setting.
I recognize the struggle of restaurants during the pandemic. We had not been out since last March with the exception of a very quick business dinner/meeting on the patio in June at W.A. Frost.
We have only recently (in the past few years) been coming to the Nicollet Island Inn, but I would have to say tonight was one of the more lovely experiences.
I do hope your business increases soon though, because we want you to thrive!
What a great hidden gem inside our city. One of the few places with a view. Professional staff all around and great food served with nice touches.
Food was excellent! One of the best restaurants in Minneapolis
Riggatoni was excellent. The bread services was not good...scorched and cold, but everything else was great! We'll be back.
We were there for restaurant week. We were hoping for a creative meal to be offered, especially since this was our first time at Nicollet Island Inn. Unfortunately there were no great selections offered with restaurant week. The ambiance was good, but the food was pedestrian. Not a great experience to remember. Disappointing.
