Nick's Fishmarket Maui
Just not great. No ambience/ views to speak of. Food was mediocre. Said it was team service which ended up meaning 3 different servers would ask the same things throughout the meal. Very poor for a restaurant at this price point.
We always end our trip to Maui with a visit to Nick’s. Overall a wonderful place to dine - even for my teenagers who are vegetarian. Just a quick comment about service. Nick’s has traditionally had the best service on the island in our opinion (we have been coming annually for 20 years). Better service than Spagos, Ferraro’s and Mama’s. But it was not the case tonight. When one comes with the expectation of receiving the best on island and then gets something much less, it’s a disappointment. In previous years, the staff were almost swarming over the table. This year, it was sometimes difficult to get service. It was almost as if they were understaffed as compared to past years. When you go, make sure to have the Strawberry Flaming dessert. What is nice about this restaurant is that they have a photographer for family photos....$20 for each print which provides a good family photo memory taken against a colorful sunset sky.
Service was a joke. Front desk greeters were crass, unhelpful and acted like they were doing us a favor. Waiter was too busy staring at the group of women next to us to pay attention to us. The food runner was clumsy, stiff and right out of central casting. The water guy basically threw the water into the glasses and spilled all over the table - multiple times - and no one made any attempt to dry things up. The calamari was not cooked through, was soggy and was basically inedible. Ahi was good. Steak was fair. None of it was worth the price. A bunch of kids trying to run a fine dining restaurant. Bad result. With all of the outstanding seafood available on this island, I don’t know why anyone would waste their money here. We had WAY better food the following day from one of the food trucks in Kihei town. MUCH better service, too.
Absolutely love this place and the food. It was a great first time and we def will come back. We basically ordered everything on the menu because it was a party of 9. Food was worth it.
Food was amazing and the staff was very attentive. Was an a expensive meal, but it was worth every penny!
Our server was either too busy or was off on our visit. The other staff were generally good and tried to recover for him. I don’t know if one can fix attitude!
My wife had a dish of calamari that was not edible. She left the plate uneaten and my Macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi was soggy and mushy.
Overall a very disappointing night at this high end restaurant.
My husband and I went to Nick’s on the last night of our honeymoon. We were greeted so kindly and with enthusiasm for our special occasion. We were given the best table for the sunset and treated wonderfully. This was the best dining service we had on the island, only comparable to one other restaurant. The food was so so good. Unique and interesting and not over portioned. We loved the ambiance and overall experience.
Great food, great service, great views! Nick’s continues to be our favorite restaurant in Maui!
This restaurant didn’t live up to its hype. The food was just so so but very expensive. Don’t go during daylight hours. It faces west and every single table is in the sun.
Beau was the best server I have ever had in my life - period. I have dined at Michelin star restaurants all over the world, and Beau was by far the most entertaining, enthusiastic server I ever come in contact with. He loves his job, and it shows. Food was delicious and fresh, as well. Service and other servers were phenomenal also.
Atmosphere was wonderful, a few more children than I would like though they can’t control that. One of the best sashimi ahi dishes I’ve ever eaten! Would definitely venture here again
Great service. Great options.
The food was good but the prices were ridiculously high. Even for Maui. The oysters were the smallest i have ever seen, especially for $5 each. Great atmosphere, but the service was mediocre at best.
It was wonderful ...kids loved the grilled fish (and our fish) too!
Amazing food, amazing service. Desert was the best! Would recommend this to everyone, you cannot go wrong here:)
Comfortable upscale restaurant with attentive staff; knowledgeable regarding ingredients. Innovative specialty cocktail list
Amazing sunset. Service was superb
Enjoyed the patio seating and sunset views
The seafood is very fresh and the chef does an excellent preparation!
Food was great. Service was very good. I would go to this restaurant again.
We come to Maui every year and still find nicks one of the best restaurants to go too.
Just got back from 8 days on Maui celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Only disappointment was Nick's Fishmarket. I made a dinner reservation for our actual anniversary 2 months in advance. We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes early for our 7:00 pm reservation and were told they would have a table for us shortly. We had drinks at the bar, noting many available tables during that time. At 7:20 pm, I asked the hostess what the problem was, and we were seated immediately. Not sure what the 20 minute delay was for. The hostesses knew were were celebrating a very special occasion as did our waiter. There was a photographer randomly photographing various tables. We tried to get his attention to no avail. No one thought to send the photographer to our table. A minor disappointment. The seafood chowder, caesar and roasted baby beet salads were delicious. My Opakapaka Picatta was very good; however, my husband ordered the New York steak which was cooked properly but laden with grizzle. and his vegetables were overcooked. Unacceptable for any entree let along a $49 entree. We did not send his meal back nor did anyone inquire as to why he ate only a couple of bites. We each ordered dessert then were served 3 desserts as the restaurant provided us with a complimentary one. Had we been told that, we would not have ordered 2 additional desserts. We did have a very nice table, but overall, the dinner was a disappointment.
This place is awesome! The outdoor setting is beautiful, food is great and service is top notch. The salmon is a great dish and our food server Beau is quite a showman. Beau's flaming strawberry dessert is a must!
Poor inexperienced service staff and average food. I expected better from a restaurant at the Fairmont. Kitchen dropped lots of plates. Lots of crashing dishes all night. Yikes
Very disappointing! Located in the Fairmont one would think this place would be outstanding! Service was horrible! We sat down and had to wait for water. About 10 minutes for water! I had to flag someone down. Then you would think they would take our cocktail order....nope that was about 15 minutes! When we finally did get a waiter, he made excuses for the slow service, but he did nothing to improve our experience. Slow and just didnt seem to care. We will not return! There are some great dining choices at the four seasons!
We went here for our anniversary dinner. Started out sitting at our table with no menus so after awhile of waiting I asked if we could get menus. We felt like we had the invisible table. We ordered and our first course it was delivered it was ok. We asked for a wine list but by time we were asked to order wine it was to late our meal was coming. Usually I like to have my wine before the meal shows up. The main course was again just ok. Our waiter never asked us how anything was or how it tasted. We had ordered dessert because it was part of the restaurant week menu but by time dinner was done we were over the whole terrible experience at Nick’s. We were not asked it we wanted our dessert. My husband asked to see the manager to let him know they sent over a guy who was not the manager.
So we waited for Doug the manager to speak to him about our dinner. He was apologetic and offered to by us another dinner. That was really nice of him but we do not want anything for free. All in all the service, food and experience was terrible I will not be going back for even the free dinner.
The dining experience was terrible. Mediocre food, poor service, a total waste of money and time. Dinner took 2+ hours. Filet Mignon came out cold but so late just ate it. I will never go again. Everything about this dining experience was a disaster. Very disappointed.
The host arranged a fantastic table over looking the lagoon, which was surrounded by tiki torches- so romantic!
Everyone’s meal was absolutely delicious! They were out of the wine we had selected, but we found a very acceptable replacement.
The service was excellent!
We had a wedding dinner at Nick’s, the service was spot on. We got in before our reservation time and the table was set up for a party of 10. Drinks ordered and delivered right away. We had 2 servers the entire evening. The food was delicious and came in a timely manner. The servers focused on the bride and groom to make sure we had everything we needed and made our wedding party feel special. I recommend it for any occasion.
Floor manager Chris and server Beau were the absolute best and went above and beyond
Food was fantastic. We had the petite fillet and the opah catch of the day. The dining under the stars was special. Our server Beau was outstanding and made dinner a special event.
Overall pretty good, however there are several places we enjoyed more. For the same price range i would suggest Ferraro’s, Humuhumunukunukuapua'a or Monkey Pod instead.
Best meal during our week long trip. Superb food and service.
Nicks was once again "excellent". The waitstaff is exceptional. The view is great.
The chef is amazing.
I had the black and blue seared ahi and it was better than ever.
Nick's is consistently great!!
Nick’s is an amazing seafood restaurant with an incredible view of the sunset. Whenever we are in Maui, we make it a regular stop. The market catch done Picatta style was fantastic. My kids enjoyed the Scallop and Pork Belly Adobo and the Macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi.
The service was outstanding. They were very attentive to our needs and actually inquired if this was a special occasion. They provided us with a complementary dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Surprisingly, Nick’s has an excellent vegetarian dish. I went there so my husband could eat seafood, which he said was outstanding, and I expected to have a lousy meal as a vegetarian. Instead, the one veg dish- the vegetarian cannelloni was wonderful! The ambiance was great and service was good too.
The service was amazing but the food was average for the price point.
I'm sure the entire staff is awesome but Beau was our Captain and he and his whole team we're fantastic. Food was incredible (Opakapaka and salmon) with flaming strawberry dessert.
