Newport Rib Company
Try the onion brick or the grilled artichoke for appetizers, the BBQ’d chopped tri-tip or chicken salad is a health conscious favorite, but the meat is center stage at this one of a kind Costa Mesa institution.
Take-out, catering from 25 to 2500 guests, a banquet room which seats 80, large comfortable booths, and an environment that caters to our guests no matter if regulars or soon to be’s.
Service was fast and accurate. Food was good.
It was our first time at this restaurant and we were very happy with everything. Our server was very kind, and courteous and gave us excellent service. We had made a reservation for six of us and we were seated immediately. The food was good and it was out to us fairly quickly. We had three children with us and they were treated well also.
We definitely plan to go back.
We were seated in bar area and very noisy, not energetic! There's a difference. The St. Louis ribs were a bit tough and both the grilled veggies side dish and grilled artichoke came out barely warm. The service from Chase was excellent. He made up for the noisiness and for the less than stellar food (compared to normal).
We were placed right outside the party room behind a closed door.. people were constantly going in and out of the room. It was so loud and disruptive.
Overall despite the noise, we had a great meal and time. Our server was fabulous!!
The Baby Back ribs are the way to go. The Tri Tip is good also. The coleslaw is tasty, the garlic mashed potato's are good. So far we have not had a bad meal here. This trip our server got hit with a large party so our service suffered.
Delicious food, great service.
After reading many reviews, we expected a tasty meal & efficient service. We got neither. Reservation was a waste of time because, altho very specific details for seating arrangements were requested, they tried to seat us based on their convenience. We insisted on our preferred seating arrangements. Once seated, we waited over 15 minutes for someone to come take our order in spite of the fact that there were only 5-6 customers in there. We saw the server engrossed in idle chit chat with another server & we couldn’t get their attention. The ribs were scorched, the side dishes had little to no flavor. After we were done, we waited over 15 minutes to get the bill. The people at the next table came in 1/2 hour after us & were out of there well before we got our check. In our opinion, not worth the high prices. In fact, not worth the trip. We’ll look elsewhere to satisfy our craving for good bbq ribs.
Family owned and run business. Greeted with a big smile and good food. Nothing else to say other than the gluten free cornbread was better than regular. Go for it...
Food and service were excellent. We had a coupon for $10 off for $50 or more so we couldn’t have asked for a better price for really good food.
The whole family was impressed with the location and food.
Maybe an off night. My daughter is gluten intolerant, the restaurant promotes itself as catering to this. She ordered a specific gluten free meal. Twenty minutes later, just as the rest of our food is being served, we're told they are out of what she ordered. Now she has to wait for her food while we eat. They were kind enough to give her a dessert to go, but a rough dinner experience nonetheless.
Okay ribs - terrible sides - not worth the money - I won’t be returning.
Found this restaurant on Yelp and the reviews were very good so we thought we would give it a try. It was everything the reviews said. Great food, great service, prices were very fair for the amount of food you get and they take reservations which is a big plus. When we are back in the area we will visit again.
Have been here several times and this was the first time I had a bad meal. The baby back ribs were small and lacked meat. The person next to me also got the ribs and they were twice the size and very meaty. Lots of bone fragments in my ribs. I guess I'll stick with chicken next time. Service was great.
So many items to chose from on the menu; my husband and I split the ribs, chicken and try-tip platter; They were all excellent and you got a lot of food for the money. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. If in the area again we would definitely try Neport Rib Company.
Fabulous! Immediately we were offered a yummy hunk of cornbread. We devoured the grilled artichoke appetizers (3 dipping sauces). We each ordered "make your own" allowing us to choose 2 meats and 1 side each. I had baby backs and tri - tip which was so tender - good spice in the sauce too. My husband had pulled pork and beef ribs. We ate until we couldn't eat any more and still ended up taking leftovers home for dinner the next night. An excellent value for what they give you. We hope to go back again.
Waitress was the friendly best funny sweetest ever she made the night awesome!
2nd time eating here. We will definitely be back. Ribs fall off the bone.
Amazing!!!!!! We love Newport Rib!
Great place to have large parties. Food is always superb. Been going there for over 20 years — never disappointed !!!
Always a great place to eat with the fiance, first time I had brought a party of 7 though. Staff was super awesome, orders were timely and the resident magician was awesome. Will always come back, forever
The host was very friendly.
Father’s day. Excellent food and service. Free t-shirt. Two thumbs up!
A busy Saturday lunch and the service wasn't as attentive as it has been in past visits. Possibly they were short staffed. Excellent ribs.
Very positive experience. Comfort food and good atmosphere.
Kendra did a great job. We have come to expect good food and a high quality of service. We were not disappointed.
Essen geht so sehr große Portionen aber leider relativ fad. Bedienung war super lieb und freundlich. Es war nur viel viel zu kalt im Restaurant
The table was set up and ready when we arrived. The food was good and service was great for a group of 10. The only complaint would be the tiny table they seated us at. It was very small for the amount of people.
Ample portions. We had enough to take home for a second meal! Very tasty! Very cordial hostess and waitress!
Comfortable good prime rib dinner for 4, cooked to rare, as requested. Bread was stale, usually great onion loaf was a bit “meaty” - thick, sharing charge of $3.50 for 22 oz is a ripoff, not many can eat 22 oz (no bone). They stand behind this by giving a 1/4 slice of pineapple & 2 asparagus sticks, nobody ate. Our server is from a small town in England - total sweetheart, we all loved her, did comp us the onion loaf to make up for sharing charge. That wouldn’t keep me from coming back anyway but the owner should just know that it prevented the fifth star. I’d have no problem if he raised the price a couple of bucks on the 22, just don’t call it a sharing charge. Yeah, I know, it’s the principal of the point.
Great food, fair prices, generous sizes, our server was a bit distracted toward the end, took a while to bring our check.
This was our first time there, it will not be our last. Everything was outstanding. Food quality, size of portions, service, and ambiance. Keep up the good work.
Have been going there for years. Never had a bad experience.
Our server Carlos was awesome. Half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays was a nice touch. Had the combo platter and it was all very good...the brisket melted in my mouth. We will be back!
Great place for gluten free options. I had the pulled pork, ribs and french fries that were all just alright. The pork was good, the ribs didn't fall off the bone and the french fries seemed a little off. The service and ambiance was great.
The noise was because of mothers day and many families with children we all understood but with the food and service outstanding it was ok.
The parking was a problem very small for that amount of customers.
Went for Mother's Day so it was super busy. Food was super good, but they ran out of baked potatoes and hot towels 😢 Our server, Carlos was great! All in all, we'll be back for sure.
All good except too noisy. Service was very good.
