Everything was superb and our waiter was so polite and excellent! We really enjoyed our lunch!!

Wonderful place with great ambiance, decor, service and food. Great options for mocktails too (huge bonus!). We will be back.

1870 has become my new go to restaurant for special occasion dining- family anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Last night I met a friend for a girls night happy hour. I made reservations (strongly recommended) in the upstairs bar. We selected the 3 for $20 appetizers to enjoy with our cocktail. As always the food was delicious and expertly served and presented. The wait staff is courteous and engaging without being intrusive. The only distraction to our evening were the two televisions over the bar. Despite the fact that the bar patrons were almost exclusively women (I noted two men) the tvs were tuned to a basketball game and a boxing match. Again, it’s a bar! Televisions are part of the package! I get it. It just would have been much less distracting to have something a little more audience friendly instead of two bloody men boxing, while trying to enjoy our meal. I did comment to our server and he said that he would bring my comment to the attention of management at their next team meeting. This minor distraction will have no bearing on my decision to continue to dine at or recommend 1870. The food and service is wonderful! Next time I dine in the bar I will just sit with my back to the TV.

Steaks were excellent. I had the 16 Oz ribeye and my wife the 8 Oz filet. Service was excellent and food came out perfect medium rare.

We were a little late due to unexpected traffic, but were greeted in a very warm manner and immediately escorted to our table. Frank G was our server, he has served us before. Very relaxed manner and checked on us often! My wife liked her "Tiki So You Love Me" drink, along with her fish tacos. The lobster roll was very good as well. Their calamari is among the best in the Richmond area. Always enjoy coming here!
