North Carolina takes its barbecue very seriously. In Rocky Mount, they're full-on Eastern style purists, which means they smoke the meat and barbecue it with vinegar and spices. Italian food reigns supreme among the city's ethnic restaurants, especially when it comes to pizza. You can also find Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese eateries here, too. Seafood is also plentiful here thanks to the ocean being close by. If you prefer to eat light, however, check out some of the city's delicatessens - you won't be disappointed.
