Located in a gorgeous restored and updated beach front home built in 1905. Austin Sumrall is the Chef and owner along with his wife, Tresse. He was classically trained at the Culinary Institute of America. White Pillars has been recognized and awarded in many state and national publications since its opening in 2017. Austin was crowned " King of American Seafood" in 2021 and nominated by the James Beard Foundation as a semi-finalist for "Best Chef South" in 2020. We come to town a few times a year and never realized it was across the street from where we stay. We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and what a wonderful place. Food was exceptional as was the service. Unfortunately, we just goi d it and we understand it is completely changing the menu this weekend to Mediterranean!!! I am sure the food will be good going forward but so disappointed as this would definitely be our new go to restaurant for steak and seafood. I understand there is a lot of competition around, but I think the problem was marketing.
