Nam Long Le Shaker
Beyond Vietnamese cuisine, we now embrace all our favourite flavours and herbs from the Orient. Sample and share a variety of our dishes, then move onto the bar for a night cap or two.
Nam Long prides itself for being a favourite cocktail bar to the Chelsea locals. The fact that it was originally conceived as a Vietnamese colonial restaurant and cocktail bar adds to its unique character and charm amongst the glut of generic bars in the capital.
It is also the birthplace of the infamous “Flaming Ferrari” cocktail, a drink that is a favourite amongst city workers and royal families, and spawned countless imitations and flaming lamborginis around the world.
Nam Long also offers a private dining space for up to 20 people, or an event space for 45 people in their downstairs opium lounge

Great food! A lot of style, the panther cocktsil was smaizing :)
Great food and great ambiance, after 11 the crowd started to shuffle in and turned into a lively bar, with great cocktails and people. Definitely the best bar in South Kensington- Chelsea area. Whenever I have the chance to go back to London I’ll repeat the experience. Totally worthy.
We had a great time there, we had a birthday party and they took care of all our requests, service and food was amazing. I would recommend this place if you're looking to enjoy a fun and crazy weekend, to be honest is an expensive cocktail bar but its definitely worth it considering location, people and ambience.
It looked nice and busy from the window of the cocktail bar I go from time to time. Me and my friend booked the table for 2 for some food and drinks, but we left after few starters. Food is good, place looks cute but the staff and service is terrible. They either too much attentive ( every 2 min someone was keep checking on us ) or not attentive at all when needed. Also 8 members of staff standing around the bar and all clients could see are their back, so you can shout or scream or wave when you need them but no one will react until you stand up from the table and go to the bar. There’s clearly no communication. Won’t be back.
I came back with a friend for more servings of steamed seabass n french beans. We were delighted with the delicious food n good service from staff n it was welcoming to be greeted by 1 staff who came back after a long absence.
Acoustic are terrible — you can’t hear people on your own table and food takes way too long to come
Steamed seabass n Grilled King prawns were our favourite amongst other dishes. We had lovely toffee banana with chinese tea to finish the meal. The staff were friendly n attentive.
Such a long wait (40mins) for such small portions. Too many servers but not good service. Really noisy place in terms of acoustics despite only 5-6 tables being full.
Would not recommend.
The service was the most disappointing part of the experience - there was 4 or 5 waiting staff sitting and standing around the bar, chatting, using their phones & one even putting on his mascara in the mirror. We were not regularly checked on and needed to get their attention most of the time for another drink. We were also not offered any dessert and after sitting their for a while with empty glasses we called over for the bill.
The restaurant was extremely quite - only 2 other tables were filled and after speaking with the staff, they explained that it was due to the time of year (Christmas) and that normally the place was extremely busy. Putting that aside, it should have made the service better, rather the staff just all looked really bored.
Great food, the bar it’s real fun after dinner time. Excepcional service!
This is a true neighbourhood spot, we come in for a quiet evening at the start of service and we are never disappointed with the homey dishes. Imperial spring rolls wrapped in lettuce and dipped in fish sauce ...yummmmmmy. This place gets incredibly busy over the course of the night, however we enjoy both sides of this gem, we can enjoy a quiet dinner and be propelled into this full energy ball Nam Long manages to create. 9pm starts here are probably ideal, came here for drinks for years and then tried their food which is majorly eclipsed by the popularity of the bar.
A Thursday night in August might explain why we were the only ones in there. Food good but pretty standard by modern values. Surprised they couldn’t manage a glass of mint, green, or any other kind of tea or coffee. What does it take to keep a kettle and a tea bag? Nice waiting staff.
We booked for dinner at 8.30 on Saturday night.
We were the only diners, so chose not to stay.
The restaurant complained that we didn’t show up!
Ive been coming here for nearly 10 years now, it has moved along side with its strong history smoothly. Always happy to bring friends from out of town here the food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. Nice to get here a bit early for dinner and wait for the place to fill up over the evening. friendly service and nothing OTT!
My friend and I had one of the best dinners at Nam Long. We were welcomed by friendly staff the moment we arrived and seated straight away. The food is one of the best I’ve had in London. Highly recommend the dim sum dishes, they were all great. Other highlights were the beef tataki, Saigon chicken curry and the ceviche. All were super flavourful and delicious. Service throughout the evening was also faultless. The bar started filling up later into the evening and the general atmosphere was vibrant and fun so we stayed for a few cocktails - which were also great! We’ll be back again for sure. Highly recommend Nam Long to everyone.
A lovely place for dinner, surprisingly as the bar gets so much fame for its cocktails! A warm and friendly atmosphere a place to enjoy the entire evening. My favourite dish the sea bass! Didn’t expect the bar to get so busy and it does late into the night.
Our visit started off on an awkward moment when we arrived 10 minutes before our 19:00 reservation, and were brusquely told “we’re closed”, come back later. Once we came back, the service was good, food well prepared, outstanding cocktails. Great value, fresh, thoughtful food.
They are undergoing renovation but the food still definitely isn’t what it used to be. I’ve eaten here every time I visit London and I’m not sure what’s changed but I miss the old restaurant. Drinks are way overpriced too!
Unless you enjoy poor service and badly made cocktails, just don't go
we booked a table and they confirm it. We went to the restaurant and it was closed.
open table did not seem to know anything about the restaurant closing day. Really dissapointed with the restaurant and also with opentable
We had a lovely dinner and after that, we had some drinks at the bar. The food and cocktails are just great, specially the popular drink at the place "Flaming Ferrari". Everyone that pops there should try it. It's the whole Nam Long experience.
It's a nice place and the food is good. Some authentic Vietnamese dishes with Chinese influence, great for a cosy evening.
Not a place to go for food after a certain time as it’s more a late night bar. Food is ok.
Great restaurant with fantastic and affordable food. The drinks were tasty and the staff was attentive! The restaurant was a bit empty, but I will try to go a bit later next time I visit the place!
Has changed a lot in the past few years.
Food was very nice and at a reasonable price considering the area. Cocktails were very nice too.
Restaurant was a bit quiet when we first arrived but seemed to pack out as the evening went on.
We all enjoyed the really tasty food they make, one of us was vegetarian and she had good variety of choices on the menu. Spring rolls are highly recommended from everyone on our table! After dinner we had some cocktails, really good and balanced, atmosphere was great we had big fun while some of us enjoyed famous flaming ferraris accompanied by the typical Ferrari song! Great night, good price,we'll go back soon!
Great restaurant, good value and delicious food. Service was good as well. Never lets us down
We regularly go to Nam Long for dinner, the food is constantly amazing and we can't get enough. The service is awesome and very friendly. Highly recommended
We live nearby, and pass Nam Long at least once daily, usually with a comment like "we really should try it". So we finally did. We were there on a Friday at 7:30, and the dining room was nearly empty. This is a place that is in its full glory late in the evening, we were neither surprised nor disappointed. By the time we left, 9:30, tables were filling up and there was a livelier buzz.
Appetizers were good, and were surprisingly substantial and very good- chicken satay and shrimp/avocado rolls. We started with a couple of cocktails, which were quite tasty as well. Dinner included Saigon chicken curry, and a spicy beef dish, both very good also.
Food prices were reasonable, and the food part of our bill was only 41 pounds; the cocktails, at 11 pounds each, seemed a bit pricey.
While the food was good, and prices reasonable, there are other pan-asian restaurants in the neighborhood that are equally satisfying, with a somewhat more pedestrian (and no less interesting) drink menu.
All in all, worth a visit.
Our experience was incredible the food was so good I could hardly walk once done and it was great value for money! We'll definitely be back
First impression was poor? we rocked up just before 7pm for a 7.15pm reservation and were told they were closed and didnt open until 7pm which left me speechless as all the staff were ready. I wasn't even asked if we had a reservation just sent away...!!! We went to the pub next door for a drink to pass away 15 minutes and came back to find it now locked up..!!! We hung around outside like a couple of spare idiots until someone came and let us in. Still wasn't asked if we had a reservation just sat down and handed menus. I must say that it would have been more traditional if some of the staff were actually Vietnamese or even close? On the plus side the food was good, however not presented very well. I wouldnt go back again becasue party going other people were dancing round the tables while I was trying to eat..? If these are the sort of clients they want fair enough but I was just trying to have a nice meal with my wife.
It's obvious the place is passed its prime. It's a bit too dark to appreciate its decorative features and the furniture is (and felt) from the 90s. That's probably when the place peaked so they're probably just coasting now.
Surprisingly, the entire waiting staff and bar crew are from Mexico. All of them nice but the waiting staff in particular seemed quite disconnected.
Maybe it was the dinner time slot (8pm) but when we got there the restaurant was nearly empty. There was only a group of dudes on one side and then us (couple) on a small table by the stairs. Not the greatest impression.
The food was average. Not bad but nothing memorable either... I literally don't remember what I ordered so that's how much of an impression the food left on me.
Two starters, two mains and two drinks - £91. Yeah, the definition of poor value.
On the other hand, the bar was buzzing so go there for drinks on a Friday night. Flaming Ferrari? Not sure it's worth the trip unless you're a wannabe junior analyst at Barclays pretending to have money to spare.
Honestly, drinks there wouldn't be my first choice considering that there's a pretty good pub next door and a cocktail bar across the street (their Voodoo Punch is gnarly!). If you're already smashed, have poor self-control and you just happen to be walking past the Nam Long Le Shaker then sure, go for it.
I went for the food, not the cocktails. The food was very average, and in fact the restaurant is at the back of the room, with the pub at the front. The food arrives hot, but it does not seem fresh or made by the establishment. The shrimp rolls (dim sum) remind me of a frozen product steamed, and the chicken satay were dry. The broth for the won ton soup had no flavour. I am sure it is a great pub, but they are advertising themselves as a Chinese restaurant. It does a poor job of that.
We were the only diners and yet the service did not reflect any sensitivity to that fact. Indeed they either hovered inappropriately or weren't available for even simple things like more water. The food was cold and mediocre. Other than the quiet which was helpful for conversation, there was little to recommend this meal.
A neighbourhood hotspot which oozes sophisticated Vietnamese cuisine. There are some regular dishes from which to choose, but also some unexpected twists and specials. Service is perfect, really old school perfect, with the additional advantage of having handsome faces behind the bar to help you choose from some of the best cocktails I have ever had the pleasure of sipping my nights away on. Personally I love the warmth and the atmosphere downstairs. Great for groups or just a romantic dinner with your better half. Of course, I live nearby, but anyone would love this Chelsea institution! Highly recommended.
This was my first visit to the restaurant, although the 'Flaming Ferrari' cocktail is renowned for it's potency among my friends and the place had been highly recommended to me for food and fun!
It didn't disappoint.
Despite being a relatively quiet Wednesday evening at the beginning of January, the atmosphere was relaxed and jovial.
The staff were quietly efficient and attentive; the food and drinks came quickly, the water was replenished without asking and empty plates cleared when everyone had finished (a pet peeve of mine if removed when someone is still eating...)
The food was fantastic, great for sharing and I particularly enjoyed the crispy duck and Sea bass.
Whilst I didn't brave the Flaming Ferrari, the cocktails list is plentiful, exotic and unique.
This place lures you in and keeps you there all night...
The cocktails at Nam long are great. The Spring rolls are a must try!
Nam Long Le Shaker is a classy bar and a neighborhood gem that has been around for 20+ years!
If it's your first time here try the: pork buns, crispy spring rolls, Siu Mai and my all time favorite the Duck salad. Everything here is very impressive, tasty and good value for money.
The cocktail list is extensive, but the Flaming Ferrari Cocktail is the one not to miss.
