From the time you arrive at the door until the time you leave, you are treated royally at this classic restaurant. Now in my 60's, I first set foot in Murray's as an older teenager.
As always, the food was impeccable. There are other good steakhouses in Minneapolis, but none reach the level of Murrays. You can't get a better steak in Minneapolis. But you can get worse, and pay as much or more than you would at Murray's. The silver butterknife special is the best value on the menu. It's 28 ozs of pure meat, meant for two people. But it easily fed our entire group of 4. It comes with two salads and two sides. Hence the good value. Service and ambiance were as always, very good.
If you're looking to go to a top of the line restaurant, and spend top of the line prices, choose Murray's over any of the competition. You won't regret the decision.
Use the valet😊 Difficult parking. The steak was as good as we heard it was!
Excellent birthday spot! Expect a couple to spend $120, at least.
Steaks melted in your mouth! Very romantic lighting.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Graciously accommodated our pre-order to allow us to get to the Twins game on time.
The overall experience was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was great. It is expensive but it is worth going to for a special occasion.
Sat at the bar, fantastic service and great food. Will be back!
We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try Murray's. I hadn't been there since the mid 1990's when it was pink. They have clearly updated the ambiance, service was excellent and the Silver Butter Knife Steak was full of flavor and we would highly recommend it. Portions are very generous so come hungry!
Went for our anniversary, which is a ritual. Chateaubriand was excellent as usual, and prepared perfectly again. It is a little pricey here, but well worth it. Their garlic toast is awesome. Had a great wine with dinner. Great evening.
Exceptional food, service and ambiance!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend Murray’s to others. Absolutely everything was top notch!! Thank you!
BEST MEAL OF MY
LIFE. The steak melted in your mouth. Service was impeccable — from our server, person who brought out our food, to the person who bussed our table. Definitely coming back. Worth every penny.
We had amazing food and an amazing time.
Our server was attentive but unobtrusive, very willing to grant our requests. Our food was delicious as is always the case at Murray's.
We love doing there very much.
Fantastic service and amazing food! Best steak I’ve ever had!! Great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Been coming to Murray’s for years. For classic steak dining there is none better.
Perfect restaurant and ambience to celebrate high school graduation. Service was impeccable and the food was fabulous! Can never go wrong with Murray‘s!
Had a great dinner as always at Murray’s!
One of the most tender steaks I’ve ever eaten had the Kansas City strip
Anthony was our server and he was great!
We shared the lobster from the appetizers menu and it was fabulous!!
We also shared the Chateaubriand, OMG!!
Great food. Steaks are excellent. Had a bone-in fillet and it was excellent.
Disappointed they no longer have shoestring onion rings.
Love Murray's and hadn't been for awhile. Everything was so perfect, just as I remember it. Greeted and reminded to put masks on (no big deal), and taken to our table. I love the casual elegance and familiarity of the service here. It's actually almost a contradiction. This is a high end restaurant that could be stuffy, unfriendly and intimidating. It's quite the opposite. It was like going to an old friend's house for dinner, only the food and the wine were much better! There were three of us who had a variety of dishes and everything was amazing. The sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful as was Dylan, our server. We need to go more often!
One of the best steak's I have had in a very long time. Great flavor. We had the bone in Sirloin. Fantastic! Our waiter was great as well!
Prompt, knowledgeable wait person and staff made this a delightful experience!
Food is always excellent!
Easy parking with reasonably priced valet service.
Looking forward to our next visit!
The Silver Butter Knife steak at Murray's is everything it is advertised to be and more! The hash browns, Brussel sprouts and Baked potato were just phenomonal! And the service was so personal you felt like you were the only patrons in the place. The only thing missing was running into Sid Hartman. RIP Sid.
We had a fabulous meal at Murray’s! Our server was attentive, while allowing us to pace our meal as we desired. The crab cakes were by far the best we’ve had in a while, and will definitely be back for those alone! The steak was also incredible. Overall, Murray’s is a must visit location if you’re looking to be well taken care of, while having phenomenal food!
If you decide to go downtown you have to go to Murray's. The steaks are cooked perfectly. The sommelier is knowledgeable about the entire wine list and can narrow down what you would like very perfectly. The manager Wayne is wonderful. He made the rounds through the restaurant and was very friendly with everyone. The atmosphere is delightful; just enough "old time meets new time". The bartender was absolutely wonderful; very friendly and is a master at making and pouring drinks. Again go downtown and go to Murray's you will thank me for it.
The Caesar salad was something that Calilgua reject. No anchovies the dressing was not mixed. Romaine dressing was bland. The garlic toast was poor, not like the old Murray’s , not crisp and different from years past. The steak was ok but not worth $54.00
It was so nice to be back at Murray’s after 15 months of not eating out. Everybody was wonderful, took good care of us and we really enjoyed it. Still the best steaks in town!
Excellent food, best steak I’ve ever had. Service matched the food. Specialty cocktails were not anything special, except for the grasshopper.
Food: excellent. The chateaubriand for two was perfection, and a very good deal because it came with salads and two large sides, so we spent much less than at a typical steakhouse. Drinks were excellent: beer, martini, London Mule (wow), and wine. Desserts were boring but standard. We've been here many times and would give 5 stars except for the bad ending to an otherwise nice evening -- the valet parking. The sign said $12. The valet asked for my phone number to text me a link to pay. The site had trouble taking my credit card. Then it said the fee was $12.96 and had three buttons for a suggested tip, the lowest of which was $3. I went around that and typed in a tip of $1.00, in part because I was annoyed that it was already charging me a buck more than the sign said. THEN, before it completed my purchase, it tacked on a $2.00 "COVID Safety Fee." So my $12 parking was now all the way up to $16. Why wouldn't they just have the sign say the valet was $15? Annoyed, I went back to subtract my tip, at which point it wanted me to re-enter my card and start all over again. We complained to the valet, who told us we didn't have to use that system and instead just swiped our card. Still cost $15. It's not about the money (dinner was $230) but about the annoyance and inability to be up front about the pricing.
Best all around experience. Great food and I still think this 35 years later. Love this place.
Took some team members (new) to dinner our waitress was amazing and the food was equally amazing....as always.
Still Classic after all these years! Loved table-side steak service. Waitress was phenomenal!
Our server Sarah and the sommelier Greg made our anniversary dinner one for the ages. Spot on recommendations from the moment we were seated. It was worth the wait to be back downtown. Truly wonderful- but that is to be expected at the Twin Cities best known name for steaks!
The Murray’s vs Manny’s debate is settled! This debate has been argued for years with steakhouse lovers. But after a rigorous analysis of these two longstanding great steakhouses... we have a unanimous decision.
But first a shout out to my girl for traveling without any luggage using only a personal bag for a two night weekend. I dare any guy to try to get your girl to do it lol...
Atmosphere- both are great old school feel yet different. So a tie on that.
Service - very good at both but more professional and attentive at Murray’s.
Sides - Murray’s
Price - Both are expensive as expected but Manny’s was over the top expensive and about 20% higher for the same thing.
NOW the most important part - The cow! I had dry aged bone in filet and Kelly had filet. Both were great but Murray’s wins without a doubt. We suggested always ask for your cow to be cooked Pittsburgh style.
So there you have it. If you’re bored and want a fun weekend. Jump on a cheep flight and go to Minneapolis and do dinner at Murray’s.
We took our 21 year old to Murray’s to celebrate her birthday. Same as her grandfather and father before her. It did not disappoint. Even our home grown beef (which is incredible)is not as good. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Dinner was great. We ordered the silver butter steak medium rare and it came out perfectly!
Our main course (Tournedos Oscar) was outstanding, as were the raspberry pie and chocolate cake (one of the best I've ever had). The salads were another matter; I'd expect to find them at one of the family-style chains. Uninteresting, and mine had so little dressing that I'm really not sure it had any at all.
We will be back; I want another shot at that chocolate cake!
Excellent food and service by Dani!! We had the filet and the bone in rib eye, both prepared to perfection. Desserts were awesome too, have the raspberry pie, not too sweet, just delicious!!!
Excellent service and the phone was phenomenal! The silver butter knife for two does not disappoint!
