Fabulous restaurant in mid-town. Very unique menu which changes frequently, and which meets the farm-to-fork standards. Most everything was locally grown/sourced and most of the wines are local as well. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. We started with the Heirloom Tomato/Mozarrela salad, and had the pork tortellini and roast duck entree’s. Everything was perfect. The restaurant is small and a bit noisy, but there is also outdoor seating. There is countertop seating next to the kitchen if you are interested in watching the chefs prepare dinners - we declined on the opportunity. Service was excellent as well. One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in the Sacramento area, well worth the price.
It was our daughter’s 30th bday. Food was great! Ambiance was great! We all enjoyed our dinner and experience there!
This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento, and we have eaten here many times. I have had so many amazing meals here, and we try to come here for our anniversary and/or birthdays. It was our 14th wedding anniversary, and tonight's meal was every bit as good as any meal I have ever had here, or anywhere! Thank you so much Julia, Sara Jean, Dan, and Patrick. Also, thanks to the rest of the staff as well. We look forward to seeing you soon. Cheers, Robert & Janell
Everything was wonderful. From the quaint patio to the amazing food to the attentive service.
We used to love to have dinner at Mulvaney's, but our last two times there we had to realize that the food is at the most mediocre, the presentation not at expectation, and the price outrageous for what they serve you. Menu pretty limited, too. The ambience and the service were, as usual, superb.
Great downtown restaurant - from drinks at the bar to dessert at the table ... everything was pretty darn perfect. We all loved our dinners, the service was friendly, the atmosphere lively (difficult for those that may have a tough time hearing in loud / open locales) ... a "must" in Sacramento.
We love Mulvaney's B&L--always the place we go to celebrate special occasions (and also just to enjoy the food and the patio). Food is always delicious and current for the season. Service is outstanding. What's not to love about Mulvaney's?
I would recommend but beware of the location in a vintage building with no signage and parking, plan ahead.
My pork chop was very good my wife’s fish was a bit over seasoned for her taste. Menu seams a bit limited but was relevant for the times in Sacramento.
Spice cake was a bit dense for “cake” liked the ding-dong but would have preferred a sponge cake instead of the flour less cake type.
Wine by the glass options were limited.
Mulvaney's never disappoints, and our dinner last week was no exception. If it's anywhere from April to October and decent weather do what you can to sit outside. Share as many things and possible and soak up just how knowledgeable the servers are. Hard to go wrong at Mulvaney's!
Best restaurant in Sacramento from food to service.
Great!!!! Wonderful food and service.
It was a big let down. Service was slow, wine list not great and food was blah
We loved our customized menus that said happy anniversary. Food was excellent as well!
Good food but pricey for the produce l get from my own garden. The bartender thought it a riot to use the"f" word in every sentence. One "f" bomb is fine but 15 is a bit overkill. Hipsters probably love the place.
My fiance and I live this place, great food and great service.
An amazing dinner made especially so by our waitress who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, intuitive, and simply just made the experience fun.
A simple and relatively new formal friendly setting with fantastic food.
Our waitress was named Taryn and I will only return if she’s available that’s how much of an impression she made.
The food was good. There was one person that choose to talk very LOUD and made it uncomfortable
at times. The service was good and they all recognized our 1 yr anniversary. Made us feel special.
Mulvaney’s never lets you down! Patrick stopped by each table to say a quick hello and if everything was well. Which it always is. Thank you!
Splendid, as always, with the vibe that you as a person are so welcome, and the staff genuinely want you to have a great evening, whatever it takes.
Wonderful restaurant with fabulous service. Very kind staff that is there to serve. Beautiful food that is hand made in house. Cant beat the all the little details that go into the experience. Oh yeah awesome drink selection from the bar.
My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and Muvaney's made it a special evening. Our desert included a personal message, wishing us well, scripted in chocolate.
Always love the food and service.
Interesting menu with many treats
The bartender makes some great drinks and at Mulvaney’s, if you order what types of food you like, you will be quite satisfied.
My wife and I just had our first meal (lunch) at Mulvaney's. We knew they had a great reputation for the food but primarily came because we saw an interview with the Mulvaneys on PBS on their efforts to promote a mental health program among restaurant employees. We wanted to support that. Anyway, the food was great, we had the opportunity to talk with Bobbin Mulvaney and we loved the vibe of the place. We caught them at the end of the lunch period and they were doing the change-over for dinner but everyone was unfailingly gracious. A class place.
Had dinner at Mulvany's for the first time to celebrate my husbands birthday. His steak was OK but nothing special. My grilled swordfish was dry and the beans were tough. The atmosphere was very loud, we had to almost shout at each other to converse. On the positive side, the bar drinks were fantastic and our waitress very attentive. However, I doubt either of us will be returning as it was an overall mediocre meal with a very high price tag.
Excellent food and service in a quaint, old brick building. We arrived early, so lucked into a parking spot right out front. The only thing we didn't love were the wooden chairs -- not very comfortable if you're sitting more than an hour.
Great time. Good food. Amazing service.
We had a fabulous experience here, as usual. We went early (5:00 PM) but had the usual trouble finding a parking place (and despite the website’s claim that there were 13 parking places behind the restaurant, off the alley. We found them but staff men loading tables back there said they were for staff only. Found a spot 2 blocks away (I have a disability permit) and the rest went well. Started with exceptionally well-made cocktails and the smoked salmon appetizer. Great entrees too: the small plate veal liver was prepared to perfection, as was the pricy ribeye. Our server was Adam, who was fantastic and so was his helper Jess.
We were seated in the Dish Room a unique private setting. You walk through the kitchen and prep space to get to it. The room is where dishes and banquet items are stored on racks. It had been prepared with a number of lit candles around the room, one table for two in the middle. We were afraid that by being in a remote spot that we might be forgotten. We definitely were not. Service was great and the food was superb. It was a delightful experience. We noticed that there was another couple having dinner in a similar unique space in the Wine room, a spot we will have to try in the future.
Excellent attentive service and outstanding food and ingredients !
Phenomenal as always. This time we enjoyed the outside garden area for a meal. The staff is outstanding. I love this restaurant!
Always outstanding food and service!
Fresh food and creative cuisine!
Love the local and sustainable aspect of this restaurant. It's warm and inviting and the food is typically exceptional. We went to dinner recently and both our meals were wonderful. Very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Our starter was a little less exciting. Peaches are barely in season and the hand pulled mozzarella was paired with white and yellow peaches. The white peaches were perfect, the yellow were hard and far less flavorful than a peach normally is. I would vote for just including peaches that are ripe. Minor, minor cc.
Our service was perfect and that has never wavered at this awesome restaurant.
Was goodbbbbbbbuuuuyy was god kbcvbvssvhnbv was theoretically and becomes others
There isn’t a visit to Mulvaney’s B&L we haven’t left the restaurant already looking forward to our next meal there. The service is friendly and helpful, the food is fantastic and the ambience is warm and welcoming. We love it!
Amazing food, phenomenal service and a great atmosphere. Took Miz B here for our anniversary AND for the first dining stop at Mulvaney's- every time we decided to try it in the past, they were booked - and we will definitely be back. Their homemade mozzarella was delish, and they had a homemade fettuccine with rabbit that has to be tried to be believed. The pork chop (should be called the Ron Swanson!!) was perfectly cooked which for a true double thick chop is hard to do. My better 4/5ths had the rib eye and while the pork chop was terrific, the rib eye was just a little ahead in the race of who chose best. Dessert, which in rarely do, was berry and peach cobbler for herself, and a lime tart for me. Again....she won. The lime tart gave a valiant effort, and on it's own was excellent, but that cobbler was extraterrestrial. Great coffee too! Total A+, Mulvaney's, we will most definitely be back to check out your patio!!
Love this place. The outdoor patio feel was just what I needed. Can’t say enough about this place except if you’ve never been? Well...this is a must try food experience.
Mulvaney’s exceptional, friendly staff served us and made our celebration of our 14 years of marriage great and memorable. The detail and effort shown by this place for this special occasion was superb. Each dining experience at Mulvaney’s B & L has surpassed my expectations. Thanks again.
Impeccable service and unique, delicious, fresh, outstanding food. My cocktail was lovely and we even topped off our delicious dessert with perfect Irish coffees. I am not staying local long term, but hope I get to eat here again at some point. One of the best food experiences in my life.
Always my favorite dining experience in Sacramento.
