What a great place! Awesome atmosphere, drinks, food, and service! I’m going back for Happy Hour!
The Ribeye was prepared to perfection in both texture and flavor.
Waiter was inattentive, minuscule portions for the price. Very dissatisfied.
Service was horrible. Dinners delivered at different times, one was cold with no apology when we raised it. Inattentive server who seemed to not care -- but who was very intent on her sarcasm getting across.
After waiter switch service was great
Room way too noisy ( not your main dining room)
Our waiter acted as though he had no time to answer our questions. Our baked potatoes were not completely cooked. For 9 a piece you would think that he chef would know how long to bake a potato and it was all 3 that we ordered. The salad ordered had a butter dressing that just came with it nothing else was offered. For the prices paid you would think that the staff (waiters and chefs) would be more accommodating. Only purchase that was worth eating was the meat. It was expensive but it was palatable
Very nice “traditional” steakhouse — nice, well-appointed decor, enjoyable outdoor dining, and tasty, perfectly cooked steaks, sides, and apps. A romantic dinner well-enjoyed.
They can use a vegetarian dish or two
I eat anything my girlfriend is vegetarian
Lived up to expectations. Enjoyed the non-scene dining room and traditional prime rib (way more than the posted ounces) and a noble vegetable Wellington. Solid cocktails including an off-menu New York Sour. Service was stellar. Didn’t get charged a corkage fee for our wine. Maybe a mistake. Maybe not. Definitely reflected in the tip. Will come back again. Good stuff.
We love this place. : )
Restaurant never disappoints. And of course what truly makes it a fantastic dinner is Michael the waiter extraordinaire!!!! Excellent food, ombiance and service.
Love it here. Perfect rendering of classic Palm Springs!
We really enjoyed the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of this long-time Palm Springs establishment. This place was about good food, done right. Superb crispy wedge salad with delicious dressing. Caesar salad was perfect, with white anchovies, always a favorite. The wagyu beef was superb--only disappointed was that hubby asked for it without the char crust, and it came with it anyhow. He is not one to make a fuss, so he told the waiter at the end of the meal, rather when he should have--when it was presented incorrectly. Turbot is always hard to find, so I took advantage of it. It had a classic French salt crust preparation, which the waiter amusingly showed to us before the fish was filleted. Delicious! Pomme Frittes were excellent, with a flavorful Bernaise sauce, and wild mushrooms were perfectly sauteed and seasoned. We are chocolate people, and there disappointingly were no chocolate desserts, so we passed. Only thought is that the piped in music could be a little softer. All in all, we really enjoyed our evening.
So we decided to bring my mom out for her birthday and decided on Mr Lyons. We had a reservation that I’m had to give a credit card number for? i mean it wasn’t busy at all? and we sat in a back room all by ourselves. After a long wait our server finally arrived He took our drink orders and dropped off the menus. We waited 10 to 15 minutes for our drinks which was weird because the place was dead I mean it’s 545 on a Tuesday night. We ordered salads and entrees. my husband ordered a wedge with no blue cheese crumbles and dressing and asked for an oil and vinegar instead. Salads came out and food runners didn’t know who ordered which salad and auctioned off the salads? This is typically done at Like an Applebys or chain restaurant. Sad. Jim didn’t get any dressing and it took several minutes of waiting for anyone To ask for his dressing. After we were all done with our salads Jim received his dressing. Another 15 minutes goes by no food no server,( drinks) etc and no Busters so we sat with all the dirty salad plates on our table for 15 to 20 minutes. Finally entree arrives and Jims filet is a small black piece of meat that he cuts into and is completly well done. Again trying to find someone to come to get a refire is impossible. So after a while I go up to the host stand and ask the hostess to find our server. Server finally arrives and asked what’s wrong steak over cooked so he takes it away. So we all continue eating and about 7 minutes later he arrives with another filet. and leaves. Jim cuts into it and its Ready are but of course anyone worth common sense would know that you can cook a med filet in 5 minutes. So again we hunting down the server like we are on safari and find him in the back and tell him the steak is incorrect. By this time everyone is finished eating we tell the server don’t bring it back. A manager then appears out of nowhere and asked Jim what they could cook for him since he didn’t like the filet. Jim says It was well then rare? PART ONE
My steak was cooked to perfection.
Enjoyed our dinner. The bone in ribeyewas was delicious.
Perfect place to experience retro Palm Springs vibes. Go early for a cocktail in the Speakeasy and order yourself a classic wedge salad and steak. Two thumbs up.
Seymours’ was great for a drink.
Food is always excellent at Mr. Lyons. The prime rib is exceptional.
Overall we were a little disappointed with our experience. The seating was very close together and loud. Drinks were great and the filet was amazing with the sauce flight. Everything else I could’ve passed on. High prices for an ok experience.
Nephew in town.
The foie gras was so incredible that we ordered two!
Fantastic service and food; wonderful dining room made this the perfect choice! From our cocktails to the last bite of dessert, everything was delightful for a birthday celebration.
My guest was very pleased that I had chosen Mr. Lyons for this special event!
Very good meal, good service, terrible music. Overpriced.
Took 1.5 hours to get our main dishes. Unacceptable!
Sometimes service has been slow, but we were all in a relaxing mood. Love the food and the atmosphere
Our evening with another couple at Mr. Lyons was very memorable. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive, and they were friendly, fun and professional. The wine list was great and the food oh so delicious. Overall a wonderful experience. Looking forward to our next visit.
Long wait for food almost 90 minutes, and then 2 of the 3 entrees were cold. The manager did “comp”one entree, but when you go to a high end steakhouse, you expect a great experience, and ours fell short.
Quality of food very good, preparation lacked on the main course. The center cut ribeye was as tender as they come, but very bland. Scallops we're great and lobster bisque was tasty, but a touch watery. Need a lesson from Fleming's or Ruth's Chris for their steak. Wine list is overpriced, as I don't think you should keystone wines (some we're more) over $50 wholesale.
Terrible service. Great food.
Excellent food and service in a stylish steak house
Mr. Lyons continues to have some of the best food and most mediocre service in the desert. We had an early dinner and arrived when it wasn't very busy. After a bit of a wait, our overly (insincerely) friendly waiter took our order. 20 minutes later, when we expected our food, he came back to say "someone took my apron with my order book in it, what was your order?" he also said he would put the order in right away. We waited another 20 minutes, and when the table next to us got their entree (they were seated 30 minutes after us), i ran after him (he was avoiding our table), and asked where our GD food was. His response was it took time to prepare our food and seemed surprised i was unhappy. We were having prime rib, which is carved off an already done roast.......He did comp too deserts, but i have to say that it's a 50/50 chance when you go to Mr. Lyons. Always good food, but beware of BAD service.
So great we’re booking for tonight
Very slow service. It took over half an hour after first course was taken away for our entrees to come, which came out as lukewarm steak (me) and cold prime rib (my husband). Everyone seated after us/ordering after us in the vicinity received mains before us, but the table adjacent to us was already having a talking-to with the manager when we sat down. There was no acknowledgment of the poor service other than a brief apology when the first course itself took so long (to which we cheerily said “no problem” at that time). I should have heeded the other online reviews and found somewhere else.
I took two friends for an authentic "steak house" experience and it was a great experience for all of us from drinks to desert.
This is a classic steakhouse restaurant that has been there since the 1940's. Great foods, wine and service. We discovered it about two years ago and have been there at least 5 times.
Excellent charred Brussel sprouts and the grass feed beef filet was the best I have ever tasted, excellent char and perfect medium rare
Mr. Lyons is always flawless. The service is spot-on. The food is always perfect. The mint ice cream is a must!
Food was cold !! 3 our the 4 meals had to sent back! Manager came and gave a free round of wine ...
Had Valentine's Day dinner at Mr Lyons, food was great and we received outstanding service. My Lyons also allowed us to bring our own wine with no corkage fee and that made the experience very affordable. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the brussel sprouts are highly recommended. Definitely check out Mr Lyons if you're in Palm Springs!
Very good! Service is impeccable food is excellent especially the "Prime Rib". I think the best in Coachella Valley. The salt crust is amazing. Decor is old school Palm Springs kind of like the 30s era very clean.
