Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Grits

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp & Grits
A saute of pecanwood smoked bacon wrapped jumbo Gulf shrimp served with creamy stone ground yellow grits and red-eye gravy
Good, nothing great about the meal, ambiance or value.
The food was fantastic! Skip the tomato salad though. That was comical. If you want a decedent dinner star with the lump meat crab cakes, move on to the bacon wrapped prawns and cheesy grits. Then end it with the icebox lemon pie and espresso. The service from wonderful, especially from our back waiter. He went above and beyond. I think this is a must visit restaurant while in New Orleans
The food was great. We had only been. For lunch before not dinner. I would have liked it if the lighting was a little dimmer for dinner. It was very bright.
My only issue is that we had a 7:00 reservation. Before we even got dessert they started pressure washing the kitchen in preparation to close. The kitchen is open to the dining area so this was a little distracting and we felt like they were rushing us to leave. Seemed kind of early but maybe they have abbreviated hours because of COVID. Regardless we will be back.
Gotta have Gumbo YaYa as an appetizer. Profiteroles' after dinner are a must too.
Mr. B's was great! None in our party had been there for dinner in years. I don't know why. The food was excellent and the service was great! My sole and only complaint is that the lighting is a tad too bright for dinner. I prefer a lower light. It makes us look better. Otherwise, the gumbo yaya was as good as we remembered. The oysters on the fried oyster appetizer were fried perfectly. The jalapeno tarter sauce was great. The heirloom tomato salad was so refreshing. The redfish was perfectly prepared -- moist, smoky and delicious. The lump crabmeat on top was fresh as could be. The chicken sounds like a real throwback dish, and it is, but way lightened up. It was great. We were so happy to be served hot French bread. Too many restaurants are doing away with bread service, which is a travesty in New Orleans. The profiteroles that we had for dessert were great, too. The chocolate sauce tasted like real chocolate and the vanilla ice cream tasted house made. It's a throw back dessert that should be brought back and Mr. B's did a great job of doing exactly that! Thank you, Mr. B's for a wonderful evening!
This place has been a birthday tradition for us for over 20 years and it never disappoints. From the service (Clarence and Stephen were amazing) to the drinks, food...I can never say enough.
Birthday. Gumbo roux was burnt. Steak overcooked poor quality meat. Fries soggy.
Drinks were good but very dissatisfied since i picked one of my favorite places to treat a friend to a birthday dinner
Karen our server was great!
We really enjoyed the entire evening. Every step of the dining experience was covered to perfection. The brennan family does well Everywhere .!
I was, sadly, pretty disappointed in Mr. B's on our recent trip. I remembered it fondly from years past and looked forward to taking my son there, but I'm afraid the quality has suffered. The quality of ingredients and preparations simply isn't up to the standard it ought to be for a high-quality restaurant - certainly not with those prices and the competition from newer, more-energetic restaurants. The food was not bad, but it's nowhere close to being a top-quality place.
Always a 5 star meal & 5 star service! The team even surprised Mom with a birthday dessert & song!
Best Gumbo on the Planet.
The host was really nice, such a gentleman, pulled out my seat for me. Stephen and Kendrick the servers were very attentive and knowledgeable bring it was my first time. Best BBQ shrimp I’ve had and the bread pudding was mouth watering delicious. Definitely going to be back
Service was impeccable! Food was equally as good! Fabulous experience! Delicious gumbo!
Food and service are outstanding. I would have liked a little slower service on the food and quicker service on the drinks as I stated to them it was a lazy, boozy, business lunch, but I understand it can be frustrating during shift change/ slow part of the day. Food is simply fantastic (we had nearly everything on the menu) and the 201's go down smooth. This New Orleans institution remains one of my favorites.
Service was good, could have been better with a 1-2 more checkbacks while we were eating. Food was very good, our drinks also. Very good ambience but was a little on the "quiet" side, some moderate background music could provide a better screen against the "quiet". I am a restaurant manager so I know that I might be more critical than some, but Mr B's has always been one of my top 5 restaurants in New Orleans. Overall we did enjoy our experience very much and will be back, and recommend to others, as I always do.
Thank you...and happy to see your return during these troubling times.
Great food had great drinks. I always go there when I am in New Orleans I love the place
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Mr B’s! Doug was an incredible server who took the time to explain the menu and make excellent recommendation! The food was delicious! The cocktails were spectacular! Overall, an excellent experience!
The entire experience was exceptional from the time we walked in the door. We were greeted with a warm Happy Anniversary once we checked in. Our dinner options were clearly explained and servers with dispatch. Dessert included a complimentary glass of Dom Pérignon to help us celebrate.
Our thanks to all of the staff.
Excellent food and service! Even w iui th the pandemic it was still good!
Outstanding as always, despite the Covid thing. Great, attentive service, reasonable ly priced and always friendly.
Brian at the bar made some delicious pre-dinner cocktails. Food was excellent as always.
From the beginning until the end this was a 5 star experience. Cocktails were creative, food was phenomenal, and the service was exceptional. Thank you J.C. And Brett for taking such wonderful care of us.
The good news about this awful COVID pandemic is that locals are now able to get into their favorite restaurants easier without visitors being in NOLA. We decided the night before to go there for brunch and there was plenty of availability. The menu is a little more streamlined but still great. Service was outstanding and it is evident staff is happy to be back at work and aim to please. Chicken Pontalba was tender and delicious with just enough hollandaise. Heirloom tomato salad was sweet and perfect with olive oil and mozzarella balls. Hubby had grilled red fish which he said was delicious. He also had Gumbo YaYa and cleaned the bowl. I was too stuffed for my favorite dessert there - profiteroles. Please support our local restaurants. They need us. Plenty of social distancing, hand sanitizers and all in masks. Validated parking is only $3.
always a favorite. service is great and they aim to please.
Mr. B's was a great dining experience. The food was excellent and the service was superb. I would highly recommend Mr. B's Bistro. You will enjoy it.
The best restaurant in America. I drove 19 hours from Florida just to go to Mr.B’s. Went there 2 consecutive nights.
It can be noisy but the service is wonderful and the food amazing. It never disappoints. We will be back again and again
I made a meal of the crab cake and buttered French bread. It’s my absolute favorite anywhere. The Pear Cosmopolitan was a nice touch, too.
Though I did experience some service issues (i.e., server forgot to ring in my entree or either kitchen forgot to cook it), the manager reached out to me directly and apologized. This made me feel much better about Mr. B's and I am open to giving them another chance on a future trip to NOLA.
Had very nice meal. The crispy Fried Oysters are the best! Had steak frites. They were good. Finished off with a yummy Brandy milk punch.
Food was good, I would recommend this place for a special occasion.
Like all Brennans restaurants, Mr. B's is excellent.
The only negative experience was after the server introduced themselves after we were seated it took quite a length of time for someone to return and take our drink order. Everything after that was excellent.
Most long time Mr. B’s patrons know most of this already. Consistency. Being aware of what to expect. Great long time waiters and staff. Friends. It’s what keeps locals like us coming back. The menu was limited to only long time favorites. We were very forgiving of that in these times. Any disappointment or bother was short lived. Food was Mr. B’s caliber - great. Happy that we were there at all. We could eat there once a week if possible. (That seems a bit unfair to other restaurants that need our business.) An escape and a wonderful time. If you like Mr. B’s less crowded and noisy, go now. Don’t see how you’ll not enjoy.
It’s weird going out during a pandemic, but Mr B’s felt safe, distanced, and still managed to have a relaxed and joyous atmosphere. And the food... absolutely delicious!
Our family annually dines at Mr. B's Bistro during Tulane's Move-In weekend and always have an amazing dinner, cocktails and desserts not to mention the friendly staff and professional service and the ambiance is beautiful.
Everything was amazing. This was my 60th or so time to visit since the 80's
Service was amazing!
Food was perfect as always.
Only negative was when we arrived it was like a funeral home.
Usually thee up tempo music puts one at ease...and adds to the experience.
One song would play...softly...then silence for 15 mins.
Just put it on repeat😉
Awesome!! Mahogny paneling gave it an true New Orleans atmosphere
