Food was downright terrible, everything we had. Service was mediocre. Had to ask for bread plates (was I supposed to just hold it in my hand or rest on napkin???). It was about 90 degrees and I had to keep asking for my water to be refilled. I emailed the manager who's contact info was on the receipt. We'll see if there is any response ...
Great service and amazing food.
I ate here with a group of six for a friend's birthday. Service was terrible! Our server would disappear, we asked for simple things multiple times (like extra bread - twice!) that never arrived, she took so long to bring us our drinks that we had to ask someone else to check and she never asked if I wanted another glass of wine, which I would have liked. Food was just ok. I ordered a burger medium rare (which the server said was amazing) but it arrived medium plus. It took so long to come that I just ate it. It had very little flavor and there was nothing special about it. My husband had the skirt steak, which was also over cooked but at least had some flavor. This place is great for people watching if you sit on the patio, but not much else!
I was disappointed with the food, calamari is so chewy, braised short ribs is chewy too, trout over cook. Mojito not to much ice.
Great restaurant for brunch, excellent service and loved the french press coffee!
Ordered the wild salmon which was cooked perfectly, but served on top of an oily tasting couscous and NO veggies. Caesar salad was plentiful but not made with the usual romaine lettuce.
Soup was warm, not hot. Steak was so so consider how expensive it is. Service was was not great. Finished soup bowls were there during the entire meal.
Took our waitress forever to go greet us and take our drink order, she then just took one order and there were 5 of us. Took another good while before we could order rest of drinks and food. We were sat outside and the sun was burning half of my face and arm for most of our stay. Waitress spilled a beer on one of my guests and instead of helping to clean the mess she left to get another beer????Worse experience ever!! $300+ tab!!! And we were there celebrating my son's birthday. Wish I had just gone to cheesecake factory across the way.
I was taken here for my birthday. The manager graciously bought me dessert. I had the shrimp cocktail and my date had the calamari, both excellent. Then we had the shortribs and I told the manager to tell the chef that the mashed potatoes tasted like a mother's hug.
I would celebrate another birthday here again, however, I refuse to age any more.
Service was great, food came out fast as well. Kids ordered grilled cheese sandwich but it was hard. My other kid's pasta was swimming in butter- I had to pour the butter out. My salad was good. My husband's steak was a little dry but surprisingly he didn't mind- he usually was very picky on his meat. Dessert was cream puff filled with ice cream- very good. Overall, it was wonderful.
P.s. Had to remind waiter to take off kids meals charge because kids eat free on Saturday. But he was very nice and did it right away.
This was a fab place when it first opened. The food and service were wonderful. I don't know what has happened to it in the last couple of years, but it's just awful now. Terrible service, horrid food. I never go back.
My first time at Morel's for Sunday Brunch. The waiter was total unexperienced and did not even know that there was a wine list for bottles! The onion soup was mediocre , while the charcuterie platter was not to write home about. Wines are very expensive. I had to go inside to get a spoon for the soup. Yes, it is a great place for people watching at the Grove.
The best food at the Grove for dinner.
excellent service as well. I do not want to write a review longer than 50 characters.
The service was poor and the food was "okay". It took nearly 30 minutes for our appetizer to come out while tables around us had apps out within minutes of ordering! The host didn't have our reservation upon arrival to top it off.
Should offer sunstitutes for fries this restaurant is considered upscale yet they pair meats with french fries
In a nutshell, the baked potato, which is ordered as a side item, was old. Heirloom tomato salad had two great slices of an heirloom tomato, but was spoiled by a third, hard, un-flavorful, regular tomato placed in the center. Steak was great.
We eat out almost every night so we have become very spoiled with fine dining. Here the service was slow, the food was average and the wine was horrible by the glass. The restaurant is beautiful and we overlooked the grassy area so that was lovely. We focused on how lovely the restaurant was and not the food and service, so our evening was pleasant.
My mum and I came here for my cousins 50th birthday. I wrote a specific note while booking specifying where we wanted to sit and that it was a special occasion. The hostess (Priscilla) did not check the booking and paid no attention to the notes. We did sit outside and it was Ok. Todd was our waiter. He was good. Had trouble with the menu but overall a nice guy. Mum had the steak tartar and it was acceptable. My cousin had the Striped Bass and she liked it very much. I had the mussels with dill and they were so-so. They came out luke warm and the taste was bland. To top it off, when I asked the hostess if they saw the birthday note she told me the computer was upstairs.... So I asked if she could let the waiter know we were celebrating a birthday. We get the bill and they charged us $7 for one scoop of ice cream with a birthday candle. I have never been to a place that charges for a birthday dessert. I was disappointed that we tried to have a nice birthday evening and things did not go as planned. Overall, I wouldn't go back.
We had been to Morel's once before. It had been wonderful....upstairs dining in the early evening...great service and food.
Today, midday, on a weekend was HORRID! Our waiter was scattered, neglectful, and ultimately rude. When we called the manager, he too, instead of being apologetic for all the shortcomings, "looked into" things and never personally came back.
Ugh...worst experience at a restaurant in a long time.
This restaurant has gone casual. It used to be more upscale, but now the menu is downgraded
Got lost were half hour late. They had to give table away, but were really very understanding and accommodated us. Food was average came out cold, but they were extremely busy and overbooked. Would possibly try again other than Christmas Day eve.
Well they could not find our reservation and when they did they acted as if they didn't want us to stay. They told me it would take a very long time to get dinner because the kitchen was too busy. They were turning people away but there were empty tables everywhere.
We did not leave and it didn't take a long time to get dinner, maybe the hostesses need more training idk.
We arrived at the restaurant only to find that our table had been given away. We were only 15 min. late and the reason we were late is that valet parking took forever and we had my wheelchair seated 80yr old mom. To make matters worse, the general manager (Zach Blair) was very condescending and not at all helpful or willing to accommodate us. It was very cold and my poor mom was freezing. We ended up going to Unami Burger and had a great meal. It's really ashame about Morel's because there was no reason to treat us the way he did.
On top of that, I once hosted my company's christmas party at the restaurant to the tune of about $15k. I promise that will never happen again!!
First of all, they did not have our reservation. Likewise for the group behind us. Although there was not a significant line, seating took forever. We were initially seated outside, at the entrance to inside dining. The traffic made this location unbearable. We requested to be relocated to another outside table. Took quite a while to be served. French Onion Soup was good. Steaks were improperly cooked based on manner in which they were ordered (i.e., well done vs. medium). All-in-all, a less than stellar performance by Morel's on Christmas.
We sat outside with a view of the Christmas tree and the fountain. It was very festive and nice. The food was good and the service was fine. We liked the skirt steak; a bit chewy, but very flavorful.
The host staff was useless. The hostess repeatedly told me I didn't have a reservation until I pulled out my phone and showed her on the app and then she inprived her attitude to curt and put out. They sat us practically in the kitchen in a makeshift table, the food was ok and the server tried hard, but the food took forever and the rest of the staff acted completely put out that we had showed up at all. There are too many other restaurants near this place for you to waste your time here. Skip it and save yourself the headache.
We went on Christmas Eve. It was really crowded but we had a reservation and were seated a few minutes early . We got our appetizer just fine (calamari) but our vetter still hadn't come 45 minutes later. Parties who were seated after us got their food whilst we say abfcwIted with no attention from out server. I flagged him down and asked him if iur good would be out siknhe said. "Uh, I think I saw then making it. " 5 minutes later he went breezing by our table without stopping and I asked him just to cancel the order and bring the check. He comped our apps and drinks but it was a bit disappointing.
We have dinner at the Grove every Christmas Eve, and Morel's continues to disappoint on this night. Clearly the kitchen was overwhelmed and there was not enough staff on hand. Not only was our food cold, they forgot to bring a side dish (which was on our check), water was not refreshed (even after asking), and one of the entrees was wrong. Our waiter was very pleasant but simply had too many tables. Morel's will no longer be on our rotation for what has become a tradition ever since the kids were very small.
Tasty meal, overpriced drinks and entrees, and the service was slow. Probably wouldn't go back.
I've been to Morel's several times and this was another fantastic occasion. Our waiter was great - very polite and friendly. The food was perfect (steak frites and modules frites). We had a delightful time.
Filet was over cooked and shrimp were questionable. Take a short walk to the Cheescake Factory where people pay attention to you and the food is always consistent.
Great food. Service was alright.
We sat down to the upstairs with my other 6 friends .I guess because it was upstairs they did not have enough waiters .Everting that we ordered it took long time to arrive d to us.
We had a wonderful meal, but the service was terrible. Our server was no where to be found and at one point we had to wait 35 minutes for a soda refill (this after we had requested refills for the third time).
Food is decent- I can say that the Cheesecake Factory steak Diane is probably better...and bigger.
Service was horrible. I made a reservation 1 week in advance for 5pm and even called two days before to confirm it. When I called, I even requested a round table for 8 people and was said that this would be ok.
When our party arrived at the restuarant, we were told that our table wasn't ready yet (even though we were 10mins early for our reservation). Then when I asked the hostess about our round table, she told me that the upstairs venue and round tables are not available till 6pm.
In the end, our party didn't order till 5:40 bc of all the mix up. We didn't eat till around 6:15.
Main point: Reservations are pointless, service is tacky, and food is decent.
I suggest eating at Bar Verde at Nordstrom, at least you don't need a reservation and you get to eat extremely good food.
LOVED the fondue appetizer the most! My pasta was also good. My husband didnt love his sandwich. Overall, thought it was a good place, definitely a great location.
We were a party of 6 and dined at Morel's for brunch. Although the Server was pleasant, it was apparent he had too many tables to tend to. We waited 30 minutes to order our food and 20+ minutes to receive it. There were a few errors/omissions with our orders but we survived. We sat outside on a beautiful day so the fountain view was lovely to enjoy.
The cheese fondue and charcuterie plate excellent as was the onion soup,Cobb salad and toast sirloin steak..beautiful view of Grove lights and fountains
We went to Morels last night for a date, and it was fantastic. We sat outside next to the dancing fountains. The ambiance outside and inside is classic French. Very romantic.
The food was incredible, especially dessert. We had the chocolate M-something. (Not sure what it's called)
