We enjoyed our time and would recommend Montauk. The oysters were really tasty. We had grilled tuna and an herb crusted halibut both were tasty and decently portioned.

Everything was fine until I noticed the kitchen service charge added to my bill. When I asked the server what it was I was told it’s a charge to “keep the kitchen workers happy”. I wouldn’t have a problem if this had been disclosed ANYWHERE, but it wasn’t.

A staple in Vail / Lionshead, quality seafood and food for others that would prefer a meal not from the ocean. Food for everyone in your party. Great for special occasions. A little pricey but the food and service is indeed worth it! Their espresso martini was fantastic.

Montauk has lost its MOJO. We dined previously and had great experiences. Calamari tasted like it was prepared in old oil, entrees both scallops & salmon burnt on outside & cold in the middle. To top it off, midway through our meal the restaurant seated a party on nine at a six top which really over-crowded our table for two.

We have been coming to Vail for years but for some reason never dined at Montauk’s and I wish we had. This was by far one of the best meals my family has had. We enjoyed the clam chowder, swordfish, tuna, Alaskan king crab, shrimp, and prawns - each item was prepared to perfection and for dessert we enjoyed the sand pie. Delicious!!!

Service was attentive but not hovering. The Carmelized Scallops were one of the best I’ve ever had- super large, perfectly cooked. The clam chowder was packed with clams and flavor. We had a lovely dinner. Will come back.

My family visits Vail almost every year. Montauk is a must dine at least twice sometimes three times during the week we are there. The wait staff is always superb and the food is excellent.

The wellfleet oysters were right out of the bay. The fried calamari was tender and not greasy. The tuna dish is unique in the country with great tuna and all the right surroundings like wasabi, ginger and soy. This place is restored from a slight dip 5 years ago. It’s 😌

I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my favorite seafood dishes. Started off with a wonderful oyster shooter followed by pristinely fresh oysters on the half shell. The sourdough bread is hard to resist and we had excellent calamari. The carmelized Atlantic scallops and risotto was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent but friendly and we enjoyed being in a restaurant where the noise level was manageable for my husband, who wears cochlear implants and often can’t hear conversations. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening! The prices were in line with NYC seafood restaurants that don’t have the same issues with accessibility to fresh seafood.

We came to vail for a family vacation. Montauk was the best meal we had in all of our trip. Delicious. It’s a must if you are in Vail. Server was great. Everything from drinks to dinner and desserts were amazing! We will definitely be back.

Excellent service from Dominick, our waiter. The oysters (variety) were delicious as was our salads. The Colorado lamp chops were very good too, but I would have preferred a simpler presentation without the sauce on them. The Alaskan King Crab was perfect as was the Chilean Sea Bass.

Nice restaurant, slightly trendy in guests but nothing pretentious. Food was very good. Wine by the glass was fair. Good starter salad. Salmon entree was nicely prepared med/rare. Nicely flavored with ginger and sticky rice. Scallops at our table were very well received. Vail prices and decent seafood for mountains location. I'd try it again.
