Mitsuyoshi Restaurant
We take takeout order from 12:00pm to 7:30pm
Food was good but pricey. However it’s comparable to other restaurants in this area.
Only 1 wait person, boring food, had to get my own water, overpriced for what u get, even with a reservation we waited 1 hour.
The hostess disappeared for 15 - 20 mins. We had 7:30 reservations and were not seated until 8 even though there were plenty of open tables. It took well over an hour to receive our food - they were 'very busy', no they weren't. We finished our drinks long before any of our food arrived. When i asked for a refillon my diet coke i was told they didn't do free refills. I would have thought that since they kept apologizing for how long things were taking even though we didn't ask or complsin, they could have given me a free refill. The food was delicious though, but the length of time to receive it and the lack of a top up on my drink means we won't be back.
Mitsuyoshi has been around for many years in same location. Over the years, menu price went up, but they continue to prepare and serve authentic Japanese food most of us can afford. I have been a regular there for many years and just wish I live closer than I do now. Will dine at Mitsuyoshi whenever I have a chance.
I have dined here over the years, and recently visited with a friend. I was pleasantly surprised that the same staff was still there ~ and as cordial and attentive as I remembered! The food quality and selection is very good, with mostly all selections being authentic in their preparations and offerings. (As opposed to somewhere such as Benihana); which I also enjoy on occasion- but personally find Mitsuyoshi to be a wonderful change of pace. I would definitely recommend Mitsuyoshi - and I’m sure they’ll will make you feel welcome!
We live in Northern California but whenever we are in town, we look forward to eating at Mitsuyoshi. My favorites are the house made tsukimono, tempora beef combo, and my daughter loves the cute kids meal.
This was authentic japanese cuisine. The traditional first-class service and delicious, high quality menu offerings made for an awesome dinner experience for our family. The udon, teishoku meal, and fresh water eel on rice dinner were all fantastically delicious. We will return to this place again soon. Highly recommended!
Fabulously surprised at the authenticity of this restaurant. I’m Japanese and felt like my relatives from Osaka we’re serving me from their kitchen. The hakusaizuke (pickled cabbage) is homemade and was the first indication that this was a special restaurant. The Saba Shioyaki and Hamachi Kama were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The vegetable croquette had the perfect crunch and the sukiyaki was elegantly flavored - not too sweet, with tender slices of marinated beef. We had a party of 6 and visited on a Sunday, which seemed unusually quiet, but we will definitely be coming back.
I was very impressed by the meal we shared at Mitsuyoshi, the miso seabass was absolutely delicious and the tuna sashimi was fresh and tasty. I was sorry to see that there were so few people, but the service and the food especially were outstanding!
We drive from South Orange County just to have great, classic Japanese food. Really enjoy the chawan mushi, which is rarely seen on menus these days. The shrimp tempura has a light, crispy batter. Yum! Service is excellent.
Food was good taste but drink serve was slow. It was goog
best place to enjoy japoneses foods with friends or for family events
Excellent Japanese food.
Understaffed resulting in poor service (order errors) and delays - so bad that patron started to walk out due to unreasonable delays. It doesn't help that the food is mediocre and is overpriced for what you are served.
A good choice for authentic Japanese dining.
Fantastic service, from the warm and welcoming greeting and throughout the meal we felt like family. In Southern California there is fierce completion for customers and even more challenging are gaining repeat ones. They have my business and I will return soon. Thank you.
Food was great as usual and the service was great. We live this restaurant.
Service was terrible. We had a reservation on a Sunday at 6 pm. We ordered and didn't get our dinner until an hour later. The people next to us came after us and finished before we got our food! My dinner was delicious, but the fish was cold. My friend said this was not the first time she had to wait a long time.
The waitress didn't come back to check on us. We had to track her down.
Very good place to eat authentic Japanese food. Courteous staff.
good food excellent service more like authentic Japanese food then other restaurants nowadays
I really enjoyed our experience at this authentic Japanese restaurant. It is a large, cozy place and the food is excellent, and authentic as well, served with chopsticks, and the menu is varied. We wanted a chicken appetizer, but they were out of it. We did have the skewered beef/onion appetizer which was excellent. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was also very nice. I ordered the Tempura with vegetables and it was fantastic, huge amount of food too, as I ordered the "set" which includes many other food items too. My daughter ordered the beef plate, can't remember the name, and it was a great portion, also with adjacent items with it, which includes miso soup. We made a 5:30 pm reservation and were seated promptly but the service was slow and we assumed it because of the number of people there, as well it being Christmas. We definitely enjoyed the experience, the serving staff was very friendly, the food excellent.
Good authentic Japanese cuisine. Had reservations for Christmas dinner and were seated promptly but they were short staffed. It took awhile for the food but even longer just to get the check to leave! Staff were running around and I saw customers getting up and serving water to themselves. It’s a nice little restaurant, the dinner was long but I’d return.
Not flexible
The food was delicious. The expanded menu gave more selections to choose from. Everyone in our group enjoyed whatever they chose to eat for dinner.
The menu has a very good variety of Japanese food from sashimi to combination dishes. I thought the sashimi was very fresh and the rice cooked just right. Very good service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a moderately priced menu with almost everything you would want at a Japanese restaurant.
Food is always good but dinner is best. Hirakatsu is outstanding.
Came here after spending the day at California Adventure. Had great reviews on open tablw and was able to reserve. About 18min drive from the parks. The food was good but pricey. Oysters at $3.50 per and quite small. Bento Box dinner was great and had a bit of everything. Kids shared chicken terryaki and it was quite dry and not enough sauce. Overall it was okay just not great value for a family.
Our whole family loves this restaurant!! The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. Great for young and old.
We've been enjoying the food and hospitality at Mitsuyoshi for over twenty years. The food never disappoints and it has been a favorite of our family for as long as we can remember. We visit Mitsuyoshi about once a month and the people there have always been so friendly and kind to us. Combined with great food, it's no surprise that we keep returning! As I am Japanese I feel somewhat qualified to say that the food is authentic and the diverse menu is why we never feel like we're in a rut. In addition to sushi and sukiyaki, you can get teriyaki and tempura, tonkatsu, or grilled saba. And much more. And whatever we try, it has always been delicious.
The portion was way small compared to the price. Grilled salmon was literally smaller than my 10 yr old kid’s hand. Too expensive for small portion of food. Disappointed
Always perfection.
Great, authentic food. Service was great to make up for slow food service. Receiving orders was a little slow but it’s clearly a family run joint that was just busy on a Saturday night.
Fish is fresh though portions are small. We waited over 1 hour for our sushi to come on a Saturday night when the restaurant is 70% full.
Had great expectations based on the reviews and found food just OK.
Pretty good food, very reasonably priced, but service was very slow.
Great food, a little pricey but the quality, flavor, freshness, and authenticity make for an occasional splurge.
Excellent Japanese food. Service is a little slow, but very courteous.
Tosh is the man! The sushi is top notch and sushi chef Tosh makes the experience so much better. Sit at the bar!
Always a great place to eat at! One of OC's secret Japanese restaurants.
