Great lunch - delicious and well priced. Wonderful value in an upscale environmnet.
Food was very good. Service from kitchen was a little off. Brought our appetizer out with our meals. Eggs for one person were served cold but they got new plate out right away.
The quality of the food at Midtown Grill is outstanding. The plating is beautiful and the wait staff are helpful and attentive.
On top of all that, the service was speedy.
The only thing I would say is that the wine by the glass was a little pricey, but other than that, top notch.
We'll definitely be back.
I do most of my luncheon business at midtown. The BLT is the best in Raleigh. The French fries continue to be sub-par even when I ask the server to have the chef pay attention to them. The French fry servings at Midtown are full of (about 1/3rd) over-cooked bits and pieces. They are not appealing, taste burnt, and detract from the sandwich. Please contact your purveyor or send your chef to Coquette to study their fries.
Quality was average. Nothing wow but to be fair it was Brunch. Appeared to only have 1 waitress and a greeter. Setting and decor is beautiful. Food had no WOW factor. Water served in cute 8 oz glasses with a chilled water bottle. Seen several restaurants duplicate this. Linwood’s have them refrigerated, St. Roch fills them with funnel poured over ice. Nothing beats 16-20 ounces of cold ice water as on a hot day like this, we drank around 1/2 gallon each.
Will this restaurant another shot for full menu as experience was not bad. Daughter said out of our 4 meals and dessert, lamb was best. However, we eat out to support Raleigh restaurants daily and I have no desire to cook. So eating out soo much we are critical but honest.
Manager or owner attempted to help clear tables. Could tell the stress as he sat outside with beer as we were leaving. As some restaurants have waits, there were only 5 tables and the bar was busy. Located in very restaurant patron competitive location, great decor, no wait and good prices.
Definitely worth giving another shot to WOW my family.
Had 11:45a reservations for 9 (which had been changed from 8 before they opened). When we arrived, we had to wait ~10 min. before being seated.
I had also indicated that this was a celebration (Bon Voyage), but no one inquired if I wanted anything special for this occasssion - this should I have been an early upon arrival question.

This is where I go to meet my friends for lunch. The menu has a nice variety and it's all delicious. It's also excellent for dinner. We chose Midtown both for the food and the fact we can hear everyone at our table. It's a very pleasant dining experience - inside or out.
Great service. For the price the quality of the burgers was fair at best.
Sat outside for lunch and service was good. Food always good
They were our unable to make one of their signature cocktails (they only have 5!) and were out of their best cut of steak...apparently didn’t get a delivery. That left us with a poor cut of steak that was average at best. We ordered a sidecar since their signature cocktail was unavailable and it was mediocre. We had a charcuterie Board as an appetizer and it was boring and unoriginal. The food was below average. The service was wonderful. Dined here before and remember way better food. With so many wonderful restaurants in Raleigh, I doubt I will be back.
Our server, Leslie, was outstanding. She answered all of our questions, made recommendations on wine and provided timely and efficient service. The food was outstanding. My wife had the zucchini noodles with lamb and I had the fresh market fish. Both dinners were great and it would be difficult not to order the same thing again. Thank you!
Always a great meal and atmosphere at Midtown Grill - will be back soon!
Food was great, service was good also but the hostess wasn't the mostess: She deleted my reservation (made on Open Table) from her list after 2 of 3 people were seated. When the 3rd person arrived, she could not locate our table even though he gave her my name. He wound up waiting for us 5-10 minutes at the bar until he called to see if we were there. Still would recommend for food and service quality.
Great food, easy to reserve on open table, excellent value. Clean with great service. My wife and I were able to have a pleasant conversation and I could hear what she was saying since there wasn’t a ton of commotion or annoying overhead music.
Very nice restaurant. Good selection of interesting dishes - farm to table, which we like. Service was excellent and very pleasant. Soft background music. Ambiance was nice, though not special.
It was great
Service a little to slow to begin with. Then main dinner was served although appetizer not finished . Overall too though . We will return
The food was good. Service and atmosphere excellent.
This neighborhood restaurant always surprises me with something good. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. It is quiet enough to enjoy conversation with friends or a romantic dinner but busy enough to have a great energy.
The pumpkin curry soup was delicious and I am a huge fan of the zucchini noodle and lamb sausage dish! I even #nailedit on a re-creation at home. It is a little pricey... when I go with a girl friend, I prefer to get a cup of soup and then share an entree.
Service was excellent
Enjoyed our meal. Service was very good. Knew when to be attentive and when to leave us be. A midtown gem. We’ll be back soon.
The food at Midtown Grill was absolutely amazing! This is my second time back here and it has only gotten better. The lobster mac and cheese was so delicious and the lobster tasted great. My husband had a perfectly cooked medium steak, while I had beautifully seared and sweet scallops. Its hard to believe anyone would rate this place lower than 5 stars because everything was phenomenal. The service was great as well and we were highly impressed with the cocktails we received and the intimate ambiance. I highly recommend visiting Midtown soon for a fantastic dinner/ date night!
Had not been to the Midtown Grille in a number of years, but remembered it as good so decided to go for our wedding anniversary. There were 4 of us. Very disappointed this time around. The special grouper entree was almost unedible. It consisted of a very small portion of overcooked grouper sitting on a dry, stale polenta cake. The sauce even tasted old. It was like the entree had been setting out for hours and then just reheated. And they charged $29 for this travesty! The short rib entree consisted of 1 small piece of short rib, not worth the $23 charge. The shrimp and grits ($22) were ok if you don't know how to prepare grits properly. Even the service was below par. Our waiter William was almost non-existent for the course of the meal, and we had to wait so long for our dessert order that we finally left and went somewhere else. Bottom line is that we won't be returning. Definitely, do not recommend.
Friday night date with my beautiful lady. Service and food were good! I’d come back.
The service is always good and the people/management very nice. There are a couple odd spots for tables that don’t make for a great experience/ambiance and unfortunately we got one of those in this occasion.
The most expensive entree on the menu (ny strip) was presented well but very chewy, indicating a poor quality cut. Other guest got the short rib and spoke very well of it.
A few improvements in experience and consistency would make this restaurant worth the tab at the end of the night.
I had the chilli rubbed rib eye steak my wife had braised short ribs both were outstanding! The cocktails were also very good the Phil & john is very good.
Decent food, nice environment, but service and staff were slow and not too friendly. Perhaps it was because it was valentine day and staff was overwhelmed. Would consider for lunch but not for a special occasion.
We had not been to Midtown in a while and it is one of those places that you wonder why it took you so long to come back to. We were seated promptly. Our server was there momentarily to take our drink and appetizer order. The crispy oysters and martinis were excellent. We had the beef short rib and salmon and both were delicious. We split an apple cranberry crumble and left full. Portions are good size. Service was exceptional. Flawless execution on Valentine’s Day is impressive. We will return soon.
Always love Midtown - delicious and great atmosphere
The food was ok but not great. We were happy with about 50% of the dishes we ordered. Service was incredibly slow, we were there for two hours and not because we sat and talked after the meal. I think something must have been going on in the kitchen. The restaurant wasn't full. The decor is a but dated but pleasant enough. They comped some desserts because of the slow service. I hate leaving an unpleasant review but I don't think I'll go back unless I see renewed buzz about the place. They need to get their act together. I remember this restaurant being better in the past but it's been a while since I've eaten there.
We celebrated a birthday lunch with family. We all enjoyed our food very much. Our server was very helpful, friendly and attentive.
We didn’t get any of the lil mini scones (which are our favorite) and the food was very expensive for the quantity recieved (specifically the lamb hash was a very small portion).
The Grille is in our regular rotation restaurant in North Hill. Always consistently good. They have a nice menu and the restaurant is laid out nicely.
Wonderful as always. We usually go in the evening but the Sunday brunch was fabulous
We were there for my husband’s birthday dinner on Saturday night. We were accompanied by four of our friends. We sat in the front window next to the bar which was very nice. The only issue that was bothersome was the folks at the table across from us were very loud! Other than that we were very satisfied and will return!
As we waited for out table, I went to the bar to get a drink and stood there for 10 mins. This one guy kept going back there making drinks, but never acknowledged me. Finally a manager came by and served me.
2 people at our table ordered the crab benedict. The "poached eggs" that came on top were like a gel on both meals. Manager came and took the meals away and brought back with new eggs, that were EXACTLY THE SAME AS BEFORE! Then the server brought out a plate with 2 poached eggs on it and they were overcooked like gel also. We ate our food because we were trying to get out of there. The manager came back by and when told that 8 different eggs were wrong and all cooked the same, his answer was... "I'm not sure what is going on. All the other tables eggs seem to be fine. Not sure why it is just yours? We are looking into it" Pretty sad when you pay $14 for a brunch meal and they can't even get the poached eggs right, oh but just at our table. *eye roll*
Really no vegetarian options for my friend. Otherwise very good.
Took over 30 minutes to get a lunch order.
