Bar service was great! A little disappointed that the unlimited mimosas wasn't available, but the service and food made up for it. The mimosas that were made were a little to dark for me. The oj /champagne ratio was a little off for my liking. More oj than preferred... all in all the staff and food were great!
Food was not up to normal standards and was extremely slow in arriving. This was NOT the fault of the server. She was excellent - checking with the kitchen frequently and food was not ready. I received a broken crab cake, with about 1/3 missing, after the extended wait. The restaurant was not crowded at the time. Overall okay, but not up to previous experiences.
Michael’s has great food and the service is always wonderful, however the prices are a bit expensive. For a burger and a Reuben sandwich (with chips, not fries) and 2 waters, after the tip it was $35. I can afford that occasionally, but I’d come back more often if it wasn’t so pricey.
Only issue - tables close together and cross conversations. Very loud table near us after asking for a quiet place.
The menu has changed and is smaller. I asked for a side salad in lieu of french fries, but the waitress abruptly told me that they stopped serving a side salad. They have a garden salad on the menu, but apparently, they don't know how to make it smaller. Very disappointing as I didn't want fried potatoes as my side with my crab cake. The crab cakes are okay and a little on the small side.
Our new waiter, Jay, was terrific. Friendly, competent, accommodating. Easygoing atmosphere with good food.
Again, one of my favorites. Had lunch with a dear friend on Saturday and then I came back on Sunday for Brunch. The Creme Brulee French Toast was "heaven" on a plate. The endless Mimosa's were truly endless. We had a new server by the name of Jay and one would have thought he had worked there for years - which is a testimony to his kindness and professionalism. Michael's, of course I'll be back and bring company with me.
See you soon !!!
Not very crowded but slow service and waited way too long for food to be brought to table
Had lunch on way from Amish Country, PA to Annapolis. We had cream of crab soup (yum), crab cake sandwich (yum, yum) and lobster roll (yum-my!). We live in FL and NC (seasonal), so we can’t make this a regular outing. Wish we could!!
New menu, new prices. After many years of enjoying this restaurant, I’m afraid this will be my last visit. Food too spicy and way too expensive.
All we wanted to do Friday night, was have a sandwich and enjoy the warm evening. I wish we had gone to Michael's but we didn't. So on Saturday night, exhausted from working outside all day, we decided to try it again and this time we did go to Michael's. And we are so glad we did. The evening was lovely and the service was impeccible despite how busy it was. All of us got our food at the same time - a feat that should not be so surprising, yet, at Valley Inn on Friday night, one entree never made it to the table. Then the manager yelled at us on the way out the door. Ah, Michaels, fresh Oysters, cold wine and a gorgeous autumn evening. I guess we needed some bad service to appreciate the utter joy of a simple night out. We will back to Michaels, again and again.
It had been a while since we have been to Michael's and was pleasantly surprised with the food selections. Actually, I got the short ribs and they were the best I ever had in my entire life. I can't wait to go back to order them again. Absolutely over-the-top in flavor and tenderness.
We have been going to Michael's for many years even before the "new" side was opened. One of our favorites. This time, we were very disappointed in the menu change. A single crab cake with bland fries and saucy cole slow at $23 is outrageous!
Usually the wait staff is great. Our waitress, Kiki, was less than adequate. She did not tell us about the specials. She did not ask or ever bring us bread (we ordered entrees). After the food runner dropped off our meals, she did not come and check with us. We had to ask another server to bring us cocktail sauce.
We will not be back anytime soon.
The food was satisfactory, but my Reuben was very greasy. Service was good, and the lunch ambience was fine.
I usually visit once a year during my annual visit to Maryland. Cannot beat the crab cakes, but a little disappointed this time due to lack of options and sides (I hope that I didn't miss something. The background noise lever was uncomfortably high making conversation a little uncomfortable. However, I suspect that i'll still be showing up for my annual crab cake.
Went to Michael’s for a friends birthday lunch. Ordered a crab cake I requested no bread with the crab cake. When the waitress brought out the lunch we received a crab cake pickle and a few fries. Presentation was very lame , saw other waiters going by with fries in a small metal container and the plate had garnishes. The crab cake was good, but should had been presented much better especially when paying $18. Ordered dessert wanted bread pudding, waitress came back and said they’re sold out. She did suggest another dessert on the house which was very good. Our waitress was very sweet and pleasant. Just disappointed with the lunch and left still hungry.
Great food and great service! I can’t wait to go back and try the crab cakes!
Our food was very good... shrimp salad was outstanding
My partners had soup & the turkey club also very good
Would go back again
Good food, long wait for the food though. Very crowded and noisy in the bar where we sat. We had reservations but no tables available in the dining room
prices way up, menu changes bad, not worth the money will not allow subsitute side dishes with order without extra charge discontinued baked potatoes
The new menu is not good. Trying to be a "chop house". Also my waitress was bad. Have gone there for years, but probably not anymore because of the menu change.
New menu with set plates. No substitutions. May not be for all
6 family members met here for a special lunch/brunch . The service was slow . The food was very slow to come out . It wasn’t super relaxing . The server was friendly, she just seemed overwhelmed. The food was good . Nothing was wrong and nothing stood out .
Specified that it was our anniversary and the waitress didn’t mention it at all. The fish of the day was a little under seasoned. Overall okay, not spectacular.
Shrimp and crab dip is a must try! Server was courteous and responsive. Would recommend. I do wish they had more side dishes.
Good food. Enthusiastic waitress. A bit loud, but not terrible, especially for a Saturday. The parking lot is total madness. . .
Disappointing experience at a restaurant we have enjoyed for 15 years. New menu has fewer choices, with no chicken or turkey. Waitress was a bit snarky when my wife explained that she doesn't eat red meat. 6:45 on a Friday they were out of the entree our guest ordered. The New York Strip was flavorless. Took 10 minutes or more to get the string beans that were supposed to come with my entree and longer to get steak sauce. My wife's entree came with the wrong potato side. Service overall was poor.
long time customers but they made menu changes and neither one of us was pleased with the items we ordered-first time ever this has happened- items themselves were not new but changed method of preparation with new sauces and seasonings which were overwhelming and very unusual- also removed one of the long time menu favorites-lobster crab cakes. We will still dine there but will not order these particular items. Prime rib and rock fish- the sauces ruined them in our opinion. It was disappointing.
Both the food and service were excellent. Noise continues to be a problem at Michael's. We asked for and were given a booth, in hopes of being able to have a conversation. Still had problems hearing one another, because sound just bounces off every hard surface and many people feel free to be as loud as they wish, regardless of surrounding patrons. This is true of most restaurants now, unfortunately. Restaurants should develop and post a policy asking patrons to respect the rights of other patrons to a peaceful meal, and advising them that they will be asked to leave if they are boisterous. "Energetic" noise levels are not a plus, in our opinion, and are not acceptable to those who want a pleasant meal.
It was my mom's birthday and we had a blast of time! Mary our server was Awesome!
Great service. Great shrimp salad. Always a good place to go with clients.
My husband and I went here with another couple on Labor Day for dinner. Everyone enjoyed their food. My short ribs were so delicious. My husbands fish was great also. It was busy but we had very good service. Our cream of crab soups, though delicious were not hot.
Excellent meal; excellent service; very convenient location.
Brian was great! Food, as always...delicious. We sat out on the deck. It was not crowded, so it was quiet...until a sirened vehicle passed on York Rd. two or three times. It was loud...but bearable.
I made my reservation through Open Table to celebrate my sister's birthday. I didn't indicate that anything special would be necessary when making or confirming the reservation with the hostess.
The food at Michael's is fantastic but not cheap. You get what you pay for, right? I highly recommend the stuffed shrimp and crab cakes... to die for and definitely worth the money. Huge lumps of meat complimented by a very tasty and not overwhelming seasoning. Delish! There's also a colossal crab cake on the menu. I always get the appetizer portion and could imagine the cake being just as good (but a bit steep at $34!).
Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive, and gracious. At the end of our meal, my sister and I were both pleasantly surprised when she brought out a generous slice of cheese cake on a plate decorated with "Happy Birthday" written around the plate in a rather tasty (raspberry?) drizzle, and one candle. That, too, was delicious and very much appreciated. Thank you, Danielle!
I would recommend Michael's to anyone looking for great food served at a very leisurely pace. Not that the service is too slow... that's just how they do it there. Just plan to relax, enjoy, and make a night of it. You won't regret it.
My birthday experience on August 23 630 under name Kansler was much less than adequate. Had it not been for my wonderful dinner companion the whole night would have bombed- here’s why. The waitress was very over zealous; especially at the end when it was obvious she wanted us out of there even though there were plenty of empty table around. My entrée, rockfish Nicholas was a major disappointment- the portion was quite a bit smaller than I expected for $34 price- the rockfish was laden with the brown flesh, almost halfway through, and it arrive without the leeks! The server brought the leeks about 4 minutes later and practically threw the plate down and said ”Here’s your leeks”. The broccolini was lukewarm at best and the Brussels sprouts didn’t arrive until about 5 minutes later. We had to remind her it was my birthday even though we said it at the beginning and it was noted on my Open Table reservations. Hadn’t been to Michaels in quite a long time and I won’t be returning anytime soon…
It was a lovely evening for outside dining. It was very busy, but our server was handled it well. They are limited on space for outdoor dining so it was fairly loud.
The atmosphere is very nice and it's a good place for dinner with friends, although a bit pricey.
We ate outdoors, since we had a canine companion. He was treated as well as we were, and we were all appreciative! Great service!
