Melvyn's Restaurant at the Ingleside Inn is open 100% to entertain all our guests. The Formal Dining Room is open serving those guests who want to dress up and make it an exciting adventurous evening. Table side service is available in the Formal Dining Room only. One new addition to Melvyn's Restaurant is the Garden Patio, now serving dinner to those more casually dressed. Feel free to come in with jeans and tee-shirts and enjoy the casual dining experience. The entire menu is available with the exception of table side service, the meals will be prepared in the kitchen. The Casablanca Lounge is open with entertainment 7 nights a week starting at 8:00 pm. We are excited to share our restoration taking the restaurant back to the 1970's when Mel Haber first opened Melvyn's.

This old time haunt needs an overhaul. Our group of 4 had 50/50 success. Meals came minutes after soup which had been barely started. I had chicken stuffed with lobster. It was the toughest chicken I have ever had. At this price point I would rather go to other more consistent options.

Melvyn's is as "old school" as one can find. For us, this is great! We're eager to return. The nostalgia of a bygone era is enhanced with a delightful menu and a throwback to dining with grace and charm. Especially for the older crowd (and we're among them!), it is an up-to-date reminder of "the gold old days." But, with Melvyn's every day is a good day!

Tacky and yet good. 6 people. One was having birthday which I informed the waiter. Food was good. Not great but enjoyable. Okay here we go, my family is lifelong Chaine members. Argentiers. Melvyn's charged us $2.00 for a very insignificant and poor tasting mascarpone form with a blob of raspberry gel plunked on it. Wasn't worth the $2.00. But, to be charged for a birthday dessert, we ordered desserts on top to boot which was absurd to be charged for a birthday desert. First time ever.

We had some gin and tonics but were charged for Bombay Sapphire which we didn't specify. Our waiter was good. Service was slow but not surprising for Melvyn's. One wants to linger and relax so it was fine.

Over all decent but not great. Much ado. All and all a bit disappointed. Piano bar may as well be Marina Del Rey circa 1972. Call the gendarmes and get ye to the interior decorator. Also I just noticed we were charged for a Sauvignon Blanc we never ordered. Sorry, more. Vicki was jostled a few times by the cart passing through. Won't be back.

We went at the request of my 84 year old mother who described the restaurant as “an old fashioned
cafeteria attached to an old motel” she and my father had been to many years ago. Not quite. Very formal dining with professional servers and an very traditional continental menu. All very good, nothing really exceptional about the food mostly very classic high end fare done extremely well. A very convivial setting and we ended up chatting w other diners and thourougly enjoyed our meals. We then went to the piano bar and were utterly charmed by the pianist and charmed by the crowd which included a couple in their 90s dancing to the standards. Highly recommended!

Our food was Luke warm, but beautiful. The chef prepares a Cobb salad instead of a "wedge" because she doesn't like to serve iceberg lettuce. We ordered the Chateaubriand which was absolutely beautiful and delicious, however the "prepare table side" was weak...The chef also failed on the sauces. One of the best parts of this meal is the béarnaise sauce. Our creamed spinach was hot and delicious however we did not need to order it as there were side with our steak but the waiter did not tell us it came with anything. The soufflé was hot and delicious. Would we go back? Probably not :-(

This is the place that serves up the classic dishes of yesteryear and does them well. Table side preparation of several dishes like Steak Diane, Cherries Jubilee...really good. We were a party of eight and everyone enjoyed their food and the evening. Oh yea, Hollywood stars still come here as well. Jon Hamm, Don Draper of Mad Men, was enjoying his dinner there that night as well.

After a not so great experience a year ago, I was urged to try Melvyn's again and I am glad I did. From outstanding service to great food, the restaurant has been redecorated in the last year and is quite lovely.

The only good things were the welcoming Maître d and the very friendly bartender. After we sat down terrible service and worse food. Frank is turning over in his grave.

As much as I really wanted to love the newly renovated Melyen’s Sadly I wasn’t blown away.
Some of the reasons are: when they remodeled they did keep the old charm but they could use to dim the lighting . We sat in a both where the lights were shinning in my eyes I order Shrimp cocktail only three tasteless shrimp came on the plate for $18. If they was delicious I wouldn’t mention it but they weren’t. Person I was with had a not special house salad. The thing that I found the worse was the Service. Maitre d was charming but the wait staff needs so much help.

The Ingleside Inn / Melvyn's is owned by The PlumpJack Group. They claim that they have "evolved into Northern California’s premier lifestyle and hospitality brand." Ha! I've owned a 2nd home in Palm Springs for 8 years. Never went to Melvyn's until this past NYE for brunch. The reason we decided to bring out-of-town guests together at Melvyn's was because we heard (and read) the property was purchased a little over a year ago and went through a face-lift. It's a bad face-lift with inattentive staff, bare-bones dining ambiance and literally the worse brunch meal I have ever had - in my entire life. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry compote - had no lemon, ricotta or blueberries. Flat rubber discs with cooked raspberries on top. Void of color and not even a hint of sweetness. The Melvyn omelets with chicken sausage, mushrooms, cheese, etc. came with no cheese (not one omelet had cheese in it) and PORK sausage. How do I know...because we ordered a side of Chicken sausage and those chicken sausage were twice as plump with a completely different flavor and texture. We also read about their fresh made pastries and orders a plate of 4 at $5 each. J-O-K-E. They were nothing more than frozen puff pastry with poor quality raspberry jam. Drink coaster-sized pucks of over-baked dough that tasted exactly like Kellogg's Pop Tarts. The staff was abundant but service was scarce. Entrees came out on plates so hot you couldn't touch them and looking at the curled up edges of each extra-dry omelet, I didn't need a culinary degree to deduce all of our plates spent too much time under heat lights. If the PlumpJack Group thinks they're a premier lifestyle and hospitality brand - they need to rethink their strategy...cause they aren't even close. Stop trading off glamour days gone by. Close the dump. Fire the chef and staff. Re-invent, renovate and reinvigorate after all it's 2018 (not 1960). Palm Springs is a hot destination - Melvyn's and the Ingleside Inn is a hot mess.
