I requested desserts to be brought to table as a surprise for my daughter’s birthday. They called to confirm reservation and I again asked if they could accommodate my request and they said yes. We arrived and they knew nothing about it. My daughter casually went in as we were waiting to be seated and they announced the birthday dinner to her. So much for the surprise. Then the waitress announced she was bringing something to table. Nothing about our visit was a surprise for my daughter thanks to all of the staff. What a letdown.
Server was tremendous with great suggestions and recommendations to make this another great meal here.
Amazing food....amazing setting! My favorite place in the Vail / Beaver Creek area!
Excellent food! Best sushi I have had in a very long time!
Wonderful food, small portions w a hefty price tag- but delicious if you are looking for a treat
Having dined here numerous times with great food and service (twice in the past month before this unfortunate evening), I was excited to bring my first time visitors to Vail for an enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, this last visit left me very disappointed with the overall quality of the food and service. Due to the COVID issues I would give the service a slight pass, but it was poor to fair at best. The orders were incorrect or incomplete with long gaps between orders and then a rush to get us out. We were aware of the time limit and had no issues with it. But, when you have spotty service it makes the experience unenjoyable. The food was also off the mark in many ways. It was mediocre at best. The quality was just up to the usual standard that we have come to expect.
I am hoping this
Fantastic all around.
Absolutely fantastic all around. Kid friendly too. Food fabulous. Service outstanding. Went twice during our trip to vail. Highly recommend for all.
My husband and I love the food and wines here and during these times, the outdoor seating is a big plus. Service has always been impeccable. The last couple visits we’ve splurged for the omakase (chef’s choice) and have not been disappointed. It’s certainly one of more expensive places we eat in the Summit/Eagle area, but being big fans of sushi, we find it worthwhile for the occasional special treat.
Another fine dinner at this outstanding chain sushi house. (Our favorite.)
Good service and ambience. Food recommendations: Shishito peppers, mixed seafood ceviche, tuna tataki, lamb chops and yellowtail and okra roll
We will look forward to our next visit.
They never did anything special🙂
Loved our meal and our server, didn’t love our table location but the meal and service made up for that.
Not a great table but it worked good was wonderful, always is. And service was pretty great as well. Always a great stop when visiting vail
Our favorite restaurant in Vail. Very well run, great food and awesome service. Only weirdness was during this last visit, the hostess was about to seat us, saw some friends and went over, talked for a few minutes then seated them first.
Perhaps because I’m a foodie I have no clue why this restaurant receives so many stars. The food was the equivalent of sushi I could find a a bottega in NYC. The rolls were small and literally had less than a .2oz of fish on them. I ordered the tuna and asparagus and not only was there no tuna but I only tasted asparagus in one roll. My husband and I had high hopes but were sorely disappointed. We will say the servers were attentive and lovely.
Birthday celebration. First time dining in the Vail location and by far the best experience all around! Can’t wait to come back!!!
The service and food always remain consistently phenomenal! The Omakase was a wonderful experience.
Some unique dishes, but felt they were overpriced. Small portions, except for the shaved ice. Sushi comparable to what we get freshly made at our local grocery store. Water service was great!
Wonderful experience! Great service and very accommodating.
Mi restaurante favorito de Vail!!!
Hands down top 5 meal of our entire lives!! The fish was so fresh and so flavorful! The filet with the wasabi pepper sauce was absolutely incredible! Our server, Antonio, was so knowledgeable, polite and overall wonderful!! The ambience was perfect and the view was spectacular. Highly recommend!!
Amazing dinner and service was exceptional!
Highly recommend the A5. The tempura crab was excellent. Sushi tasted very fresh. Overall great experience and food.
Snobs decide who gets what table. No matter how far in advance I ask for an outside table or a special table, the snobs at the Hostess’s area always give me the awful table in the middle of traffic. I am tired of spending hundreds of dollars for that treatment.
Great! Wonderful location in the village.
We always enjoy our meals at Matsuisha! Aubrey was an incredible server who took us on a delightful food journey. She described foods in incredible detail and her passion shined.
Matsuhisa is the type of place you go to if you're looking for a high energy restaurant in a visually stunning cavernous space overlooking Vail village with the ski mountain in the background. The tapas style dining is not my personal favorite, but there is plenty of absolutely great selections, which can please the vegan as well as the pescetarian.
Service is excellent, however, we ran into a very large table which stressed the system a bit. This can be a common event in Vail. Even with that limitation, I have already recommended Matsuhisa because the food and entertaining environment make this a great place.
Great place. Highly recommend.
We thought the servers and the bussers were fabulous. The meal was timed so nicely and presented wonderfully by the staff. We did love our drinks (the gardiner was the name of mine and my husband got a version of a Manhattan I believe) but did feel that the food was exceptional. We love simplicity but the taste wasn't anything unusual and the presentations on the plate seemed a bit lackluster. Truly the people that helped us made this a 4 star experience. The food was disappointing for the price tag.
Fabulous food and service. Prices were steep but the food was to die for. Our server Aubrey gave great suggestions for food and drink.
Every time we go to the Vail area we make sure to have dinner at Matsuhisa and we always request Derrick as our server. We never order from the menu and just have him bring us his favorite courses. It makes it more fun and allows us to try food we might not normally order. Derrick is great and every single thing we’ve tried here has been amazing. Would highly recommend.
Top notch food and even more outstanding service.
Dinner was delicious! Don’t miss it!!
Great service and amazing food.
Phenomenal food! My husband and I, along with our kids, really enjoyed our times. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was delicious.
Festive fun forgot main course
Always a great experience at Matsuhisa!! Thanks Ally for helping us with our Reservation and Aubrey gave us great service!! The sushi is phenomenal and we love the Miso Cod Lettuce app... never disappoints!! Will be back again!!!
