We search out the best produce, seafood and meat from local markets. Chef Schroeder's passion for perfection and the spontaneous nature of what is available to us are showcased in our daily changing menu.
We pour ourselves into every aspect of Market to ensure a unique dining experience. We change our craft cocktail menu to accent local fruit. Our award winning wine list has a worldwide selection of boutique wineries whose obsession with quality mirrors our own.
Awesome food, service and experience! A meal delight every time I visit San Diego!
One of the best presentations I've had in San Diego. Make the trip.
Always fabulous...never disappoints.
The best food and service we've experienced in a long time.
Out w the best
Favorite place in the area. Always an incredible dinner with incredible service. A little noisy but worth it.
I ordered the beef tenderloin and it was very satisfying. Their bread was good too. However, the service was okay. They weren't very attentive to us and seemed to be more engaging with larger parties. I made note on the reservation that it was for an anniversary and was disappointed that it wasn't even acknowledged. I don't think I would come back. I definitely liked the Valet service more.
Excellent service and delicious courses.
Our favorite place to celebrate events or when we want an awesome meal. I had the John Dorry and honestly the best fish dish I have ever eaten. I asked for a simple green salad and was brought put a magnificent green salad loaded with vegetables of all sorts. It was simple but delicious. The fresh peas in the salad were fantastic. We love Market.
Market Restaurant is the best restaurant I’ve been to in San Diego. The attention to detail is amazing!
My wife and I enjoyed a splendid evening at Market this past Valentines Day. In every respect, from cuisine to service to wines and ambience, the entire experience was stellar! Honestly, it was one of our most memorable dinners in San Diego in quite some time.
Well done! We will be back soon.

Probably one of the best restaurants or perhaps the best restaurant in San Diego. The chef uses fresh ingredients and plentiful vegetables with creative and tasty flavors and the presentation is very attractive. Unlike some of its competitors, there is no annoying pretension and the mandatory valet parking is complimentary. The first course choices are somewhat pricey but unless you are very hungry, most of them can be split. The main courses are not inexpensive but in many instances less costly than in other ostensibly upscale restaurants. The bar gets very busy and reservations are essentially a must.
The decor and atmosphere are acceptable but not impressive -- the food is. The noise level can be elevated when busy but should normally not require shouting to have a conversation.
My wife and I have eaten in many high end restaurants in London, France and other cities in Europe and the cuisine at Market is as good or better than most Michelin one star restaurants. We've also dined in a few two star restaurants and even three star restaurants that were not as good.
Best restaurant in San Diego!
Great Bar experience, and wonderful food, but waiter Micheal made the evening feel like a total rush. Very impersonal, and not at all like Bar staff.
When we noticed the odor of cigarette smoke, rather than apologizing, he became very defensive.
Wrong person for your very fine restaurant.
By the way all 4 of us got good dose of the cigarette odor 4 times through the evening.
We will be back for a feature evening, but will insist to not be served by this person.
This is consistently one of the best restaurants in the area. The Hamachi appetizer with the shiitake egg roll was very clean and tasty. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and seemed to know how to handle our indecision with the menu. We ended up with great choices for food and wine. The only thing I don't love is the lighting. The bulbs are harsh and downlighting is never anyone's friend. Food is top notch.
Excellent gourmet menu choices. The sea bass and duck were 'to die for'. Only negative comments are: the wine list was overpriced (especially by the bottle), and the bill was presented too quickly.
Always an amazing meal at market. Service is unbeatable, wine list is great, food is unbeatable.
Amazing food, well crafted and flavourful with each menu item well thought out and delivered with flair. We also enjoyed our Paul Hobbs wine off of the extensive wine list. All in all a great evening!
Food was impeccably good. Service was warm but just couldn't accommodate faster service for our starving toddler (even for adults it was a little long at ~40 mins from ordering). Would go back but without the kid I guess!
It was another great experience at Market. We had awesome sushi and sashimi in the bar, and the grapefruit cosmos were the best!!! Friendly and attentive service, too.
Love the restaurant and Gavin, our server, was as usual on top of everything and the best there is!
We ordered two appetizers and one entry. Unlike the first two times we visited the restaurant, this time was underwhelming. My cherry duck entry was so -so. My partner's fried chicken appetizer was very disappointing. Her papaya shrimp appetizer was excellent.
1 out of 3.... not so good.
Lastly, why does a restaurant of your caliber serve bottled iced tea. That is really surprising!
We went there for our 31st Anniversary and were very pleased with the food and service and price. Also they made a great effort to accommodate my service dog. We will go there again when we are near Del Mar.
One of San Diego’s best restaurants did not make it last night. Although the presentations were imaginative both fish dishes were undercooked. The explanation we were given is that the dishes were prepared using sous vide rather than broiling or grilling. The sauce in which the lobster was swimming overwhelmed the flavor of the lobster. The waiter was not attentive. We have been pleased during a half-dozen previous visits, so we plan to give The Market another try.
We had a wonderful dinner with several of our good friends. All of our dinners were so good. We all agreed
this is our favorite San Diego restaurant. It never fails to please. The server was so attentive and really knew
wine and food preparation.
Our favorite restaurant, hands down
Wonderful meal with great selection on the menu. Service impeccable
A lot of restaurants do Restaurant Week. Most are boring. You see the same type dishes on most lists. Not at Market. Like their regular menu, Restaurant Week menu is exciting and innovating. As always, dishes have unique and interesting flavor combinations that gives you the " Wow" factor, or if you are a cook yourselves, you may think" Why didn't I think of that". Great wine list and service.
Perfect, my favorit restaurant in San Diego, service and food just amazing :)
Love Market, the food and service are always exceptional. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Wonderful food and service during restaurant week!
We had a great experience. Market had a Restaurant Week menu with plenty of choices (we had vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores in our group). The portions are quite large and the food is well presented. Service was excellent. The wine pairing was well done and we got to enjoy some nice choices.
Love, love, love this restaurant. Everything is mouthwatering, service is great whether in bar area or the restaurant!
Excellent presentation of good, but disappointing taste, in other words: Looks fantastic, tasted so-so.
A great restaurant for special occasions. My wife and I are always treated well.
Delicious food served in upscale surroundings by very competent staff.
We ate during Restaurant Week and as usual, were not disappointed. We had the scallops and duck which were excellent. Everything was well prepared and beautifully presented. An exceptional restaurant.
Best restaurant in California! Food and service spectacular.
We have been to Market several times. It's expensive but the value is there. Food and service are excellent. I had the duck breast entree with a sour cherry sauce. My husband had the scallops with crab ravioli. His dish was good but mine was excellent.we both had the shrimp chowder with plenty of shrimp and flavorful without being overly rich. The dessert was a chocolate cake with Carmel popcorn, cake good popcorn silly would have preferred a raspberry coulis and a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla bean ice cream. Just a note they have the best house made corn muffins and bread. We definitely will be back.
