Excellent French fare with a modern flair, good wine and custom drink selections.
The food was wonderful! Such incredible favor combinations and thoughtful menu.
Outstanding food great service nice ambience on the patio
I ordered the Lamb three ways. The plate itself was cold. The polenta was COLD, crunchy dry and the underneath was only marginally moist. The eggplant accompaniment was also cold - and yes! I tasted it. The plate had obviously been sitting out with the polenta already on it for at least an hour or more. The Lamb chop was cool to the touch, it had been cooked to my direction but had apparently been left to sit. The sausages were the only thing that was at a temperature that was edible.
My husband had the Roasted Salmon. He liked the taste but was quite disappointed in the size of the meal. The vegetables on the side were only marginally warm and overcooked.
We sat outside because the inside was VERY noisy. I was not pleased to be seated at a table without a tablecloth on it - seems this is par for sitting outside. Just because one chooses to sit outside does not mean that they want to eat on a metal table.
A very unappetizing meal and VERY disappointing for Marche. Sad
Whenever we are in Eugene, Marche is on the top of our list. Great oysters, creative appetizers and excellent steak frites. Gnocchi with seasonal vegetables was amazing. Service is top notch.
Has it been a while since you enjoyed a salade nicoise? It had been for me, but Marche reminded me with a beautifully made salad of delicious fresh ingredients. Excellent service today, also.
This is a fabulous, friendly, amazing place to dine with excellent food, even better wait staff that is right on in their service as being helpful but not smothering. I have enjoyed every time I have had the opportunity to eat in this delightful restaurant. Don't see what you are looking on the wine list? Ask, they probably have something you will enjoy. Even the non-alcoholic crafted drinks were refreshing and unique. Incomparable.
This was our first time dining at Marché, and the experience was exemplary by every measure.
The staff was courteous, prompt, attentive, and professional. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and drink offerings, and his suggestions for wine pairings were superb.
The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated, providing a welcoming, cozy ambiance for our anniversary dinner.
The food was magnificent, living up to all the well-deserved praise Marché has received over the years.
To begin, we shared an order of delightfully peppery Mediterranean Olives, an excellent accompaniment to our aperitifs: the “vermouth of the moment” (Ransom Dry).
The BLT Tartine was a splendid appetizer, with its thick slices of toasted crusty bread slathered with zesty aioli and topped with generous cuts of buttery-rich and impossibly tender pork belly.
For my entrée: Tenderloin Steak Frites. The perfectly cooked steak was crowned with a velvety slab of red wine-garlic anchovy butter, which provided a unique flavor and textural compliment to the steak’s sumptuous, savory demi-glace. Even the pommes frites exceeded my expectations.
My wife's entrée, the Potato & Chive Gnocchi, was full of complex, unexpected, and masterfully balanced flavors and textures.
Finally, the light and delicious Lemon Crémeux (with a pleasantly bitter shot of espresso) was the ideal denouement to a spectacular meal that my wife and I agree was by far the best we have ever eaten.
Ambiance was good as was the starter. The chicken entree was quite over-cooked and was listed at $28.00.
We had a gift card which made the meal affordable. Would not eat there without one...
Had the special appetizer and meal, friends had a salads and gnocchi and fish board. Everyone was very happy with everything we got. Tried the amaro flight, which was great. Service was awesome!!
In the past this restaurant has been very good, both food and service. The service continued to be very good, however we waited for over 45 minutes for our food and the food was just fair. The eggs were undercooked on 2 of the 3 dishes, with the whites parts disagreeable. Thankfully one member at the table did not mind this, so we shifted the eggs to him. Sausage was not very warm. For the expense, i will choose another restaurant next time for sure and will let me friends know, so they can ask for breakfast differently if they still want to dine with you.
Excellent as always. Noise level a little high this time.
disappointing entrees which were pretty much "meh" Pickle plate was uninspired. My wife was accidentally brought the incorrect wine and rather than leaving it and bringing the correct, the waitperson said she could find someone else for it. My wife decided to just have what had been brought.
Best thing were the cocktails which were excellent.
Decor is dated.
Marche strikes me as a fine dining fish in what is a relatively small pool in Eugene. In a larger city, it would be considered completely unremarkable.
Marche is my go-to place for excellent food, great service, and energetic atmosphere. It fits any occasion, business or pleasure. I would highly recommend Marche to anyone looking for a high-class experience!
Always love Marche and my last visit did not disappoint for excellent food, cocktails and service! One criticism, the piece of salmon was very small. A couple more ounces would have been more approaches to the 34.00 price.
Food was disappointing, 5 star prices for a 2 star meal.
Seasonal menu of organic local food. Delicious and friendly. Enjoy!
Although the food was prepared well, the service was AWFUL. I asked for our appetizer of OLIVES after ordering them 45 minutes prior. The salads that we ordered were served 1 hour after the olives. It seemed as if our server forgot that she had two hands as she brought out one item out at a time. I could go on and on. We were not the only patrons that were upset. The manager came to speak to the table behind me and it seemed that his I’m sorry’s did not satisfy them as they stated they would never return to this restaurant. I live in California and I would join the chorus of never again if I lived in Eugene.
We were fortunate to sit at the counter and got a show with dinner. We found it entertaining and amazing to watch the the chef and crew work and keep themselves entertained. They worked hard and they really seem to enjoy their jobs. The food we ate and the food we saw created was amazing. Our appetizers and dinner were delicious. The service was very good.
Appetizers were wonderful- BLT Tartine (porkbelly), seared albacore plate
Entree - Roasted Chinook Salmon was cooked to perfection, the Potato & Chive Gnocchi was very flavorful!
Our waiter could hardly been less interested in us. Prices seemed fair, quality good but not more than that.
Fantastic restaurant and service! Loved everything we ordered... from oysters to the pasta to the ahi tuna. Great meal.
We live out of town. Our previous experience was excellent from the food to its elegant but not over the top atmosphere. So we went to Marche again for our 40th anniversary dinner. I was disappointed with the food this time. We ordered the fish board, smoked fish was good, pickled mussels were interesting, brined oysters were just ok and the fish spread was bland. For the main course, I ordered the lamb trio which was pretty tasty. It was served with just plain couscous, an addition of almonds or golden raisins would have made it restaurant quality. Then there’s the green beans which I had to ordered as a side. It’s described as roasted green beans, however it’s warmed up canned beans (which I wouldn’t even serve at home), with some kind of topping then put under the boiler. My husband ordered the pork chop which was very good. He ordered roasted corn with it. The corn was served as corn on the cob which didn’t make sense to me with an elegant menu. So one had to put down knife and fork, pick up the corn, eat, then clean your fingers before picking up the knife and fork again, repeatedly. Whatever changes the management has made - it’s not working for me.
While on a vacation in Oregon, we spent a couple of nights in Eugene. And based on a Fodor's recommendation, we dined the first night at Marche. And I was honestly surprised. Eugene being a college town, I wasn't expecting great food but I was wrong. (My having spent too many years in grad school in the dreadfully dull State College PA probably biased me in this regard.) The food was great, the wine list was great. And dining outside on a perfect summer's evening topped it off. Service was maybe a little slow in spots but was overall fine. Too bad it's across the country from where we live, I'd be very happy to dine at Marche again.
We celebrated my mother's 56th birthday at Marche and, as always, we had a delicious meal and experienced wonderful service!
highly recommend this restaurant; great food, service, ambiance. Looses a star as slow to bring dessert menu and I had to ask three times for refill on m y coffee. But will be back.
The specialty cocktails are excellent! We were four adults and we ordered four separate meals and shared two salads. Each one was fantastic. All the ingredients at this restaurant are fresh and tasty. It is an expensive place to eat, but well worth it for a special occasion.
My husband & I had preferred to have had more abiance with subdued lighting. Since we were celebrating our 48th anniversary, the restaurant wasn't note worthy for this occasion. The waiter seemed to be in a rush for us to order therefore didn't allow us to savor our special time together. Also our food was very good however, the price compared to portion size we felt wasn't a true value.
Marche has excellent food and a great atmosphere! Worth the hour drive to get there!
Service was excellent, attentive but not obtrusive. Wish there were more entrees to choose from on the menu. Food quality was excellent but always seems overpriced, especially for the potion size.
I had a very good, though not great, meal. The octopus dish was cooked well, but contained olives(?) with a very strong vinegar flavor. Unfortunately, although most of the raw oysters were fresh tasting, one apparently was bad, and I suffered that evening... Otherwise, bar was lively and mostly responsive and the ambiance good. A surprizingly limited selection of Oregon wines, but of good quality (they could have offered more and better variety by the glass). Despite my bad luck with the oyster, I would recommend Marche - just steer clear of the raw bar...
This is the second time we have been here and we were just as impressed as the first. The cocktails were amazing. We tried as many as we could because the variety was so fun that we just couldn't decide! The staff is really knowledgeable and they use as many local ingredients as they can in both the food and the drinks. The appetizers were wonderful. The Chinook Salmon was crazy fresh and perfectly cooked. My husband is lucky I didn't whip the tenderloin right off his plate because it was also outstanding. We brought two desserts home and the chocolate mousse (cake? pie? does it matter?) melted in my mouth. The almond bostock made an excellent breakfast for the husband. It was our anniversary so we were good with a splurge because the only drawback is that it is not inexpensive. That said, it's worth every penny. We had a great time!
Always great food/service. It’s a must every time we visit Eugene.
Always a favorite. However, at our latest visit, we were disappointed by our server. He was inattentive, re-filled only two of our four water glasses, and had to be asked for our check. We expect much better service at this not inexpensive restaurant. Luckily our food was delicious - as always.
My son and I shared the oysters - fresh and very tasty - the soup of the day was excellent.
I had the salmon that was perfectly cooked - heavy seer on the outside perfect medium rare inside, not over sauced.
My son had the steak tar tar which he was very happy with.
Marche has a great drink list. They work hard to use local product. Love the Amalfi Spritzer
I live out of state and go to Eugene on occasion. Have only been to Marche three times, but I'm always impressed. Their dinners were stellar, and we just went there for brunch for the first time. I loved the Benedict, and added the potatoes, which are delightful. I'm salivating thinking about them right now. My husband liked the Smoked Salmon Hash, but two notes about it... there was actually a bit too much Salmon (crazy I know, but seriously) and, as can happen, the salmon was too salty. Hopefully not every batch is like that for them, because otherwise it's delicious as well.
Great service and outstanding food!
We ate dinner at Marche for dinner on our 17-year anniversary, before heading to a concert. Overall, it was good but not excellent. I'd go back, but I can't rave about it. One big miss was the pickle platter (a small platter or chard, cucumbers, radishes, and cauliflower), which smelled and tasted significantly "off" ; a bit disappointing, too, that the server didn't offer a replacement dish after seeing we ate so little of it. I ordered the Six Finger Punch, which arrived in a tiny glass (4 oz. at most), for $10. My pappardelle dish was a fair size and much bigger than my husband's gnocchi dish. (I always hate when he tries to be healthy and order vegetarian, and then the meal comes out so scanty.) That said, he said it was good and was plenty in size. For the price I was expecting more of everything.
