Mahina and Sun's - Surfjack Hotel
I gave the rating I did because of the pandemic quarantine, we were not able to enjoy dining there. My rating is based on our calling the restaurant constantly with no answer and leaving messages not returned. At the very least, a voicemail indicating they will not be opened.

The food was good but not outstanding. Very expensive for the quality.
Great food. Kids found choices as did parents. Kids could roam a bit which was great and made dinner nicer for the adults!
Food was decent but food took 45 min to come out and we didn’t order anything special. Waitress was very nice though and ambiance was lively—they had a DJ when we went. It’s definitely a fun place to have a relaxing meal and we enjoyed our food but not even in the top 5 meals we had during our time in Oahu.
The live music was deafening
Momi waited on us and was fantastic. The ambiance is always nice. What was disappointing was the food. I've dined here for dinner before and our meal was flavorful and delicious. I was disappointed in the quality of the food this time around. The Poi Bowl was very small in portion - compared to the price. And the poi in the Poi Bowl was watered down. The corn risotto wasn't cooked sufficiently. It almost felt "rushed." The opah was fine but there was nothing memorable about the dish. Given the prices, I expect to have a better than average meal. I'm not sure I'll go back.
It was fine, but the food didn’t seam like it was prepared to order and the beignets were under cooked. Staff was very nice but seemed like everyone was being trained
Awesome food and service!!! We will most definitely be going back again!
The food was okay and kind of overpriced for what you get. The service was really great though, and the atmosphere was nice. There's live music every night! If you're a local, sign up for their free loyalty card and you'll get free valet parking for up to four hours on every visit.
The Naked Pig was the best dish of all that we ordered. It's a pizza using a flatbread texture crust with lots of bacon bits, onion and green onions. The Corn rissoto was bland and not very tasty. The squash soup was an overpriced bisque. The ambiance was okay, but because of the low ceiling, noise carries and fortunately, there weren't too many customers, so hubby and I could have a decent conversation. Service was nice.
Super trendy fun place to be! Millennial instagram heaven
Great dinner with friends at Mahina and Sun's. The mahi, naked pig pizza, rigatoni and octopus beignet were excellent, but the beans and shrimp tasted like someone opened a can of baked beans and dumped three shrimp on top. Enjoyed the drinks and fun atmosphere.
Great service food and Music!!
Fun Valentine's and Birthday celebration
Service was okay. I wished the waiter had explained more of the menu. Food was good but left a bit to be desired. Love the outdoor seating. Very cute place!
Valentine’s Day. The food was good but lacking salt. The salt they gave us was large grains in a salt shaker - very frustrating. The server seemed young. Not a lot of people in and we waiting a long time for taking our drink and food order. Maybe they needed to do a bunch of setup for Val day. Otherwise, great experience.
We really enjoyed the live music and the food. While I had the craft beer and my fiance had the mixed drinks we felt there was better value price wise in the beer. We would be back for the food overall.
Delicious! The pork chop and rigatoni were both amazing and filling.
Great place! Not only food was tasty but you can watch a movie and listen to a live music .
Disappointed. Waitstaff was uninterested. Food was MEH
Wonderful apps, top-tier cocktails, great ambiance. We had a great time.
Our waitress was sweet and nice, but then a food runner brought out our food basically all at once. We got our salad first, then later our pupu, and our main at the same time. We went to enjoy a leisurely, dinner. I’ve been 3 times before, and always raved about the food. I was dissatisfied this time. Food was good quality, but not up to their old standard. Was just ok. Flavors were muted, appearance was blah. I felt so rushed. We ate the food as it was served so it would t get cold. Dinner was over in 45 minutes.

The food was very satisfying
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Husband had fresh local oysters to start, then corn risotto., which he loved. I had the third fish on the menu-forget the name but it was great. Son had rigatoni which he inhaled. Live music by the pool was a nice addition. Our server, Karen, was wonderful. She explained all the dishes to us and referenced the local sourcing for most ingredients. Best meal we’ve had in Hawaii-don’t know why this place isn’t packed!
Great meal and service. Get the Tasting menu.
Excellent food. Creative tasting menu. The beignets with octopus were a pleasant surprise. Sounds odd, I know, but the savory dough with octopus bits were delicious. Very pleasant service. A great place. My only complaint was the extreme volume on the live music. Music itself was nice, but WAY TOO LOUD. Conversation was essentially yelling.
Great place for breakfast! I’ll be back!
Great food and ambiance with a nice 2-man band playing by the pool. Definitely recommend for an adults night.
This was our first time at this restaurant. We were very pleased. The staff were all so friendly and nice.
we ordered the family feast and it was a feast! We had the fish mochi fried and it was cooked to perfection. Not overdone. As we started to eat, there was live music coming from the bar across
(in the same Surf Jack Hotel) from us. It was Kelly from Kapena! He's a local favorite and we were
so surprised and delighted. This place is great and we wondered why more locals were not dining here.
Good food, great music and a family feast. We will be back for sure.
Great food, interesting menu, outstanding and attentive service.
Our dietary issues were met with professional and seriousness.
Great restaurant, we will be back
Casual, upscale food. Dishes re elect local influence. Staff is helpful, knowledgable , and enthusiastic about the food.
Highly overpriced...no ambience...poor service...worst coleslaw ever eaten...dinner: pork chop, baked beans, coleslaw, an overgrilled cornbread piece...had to scrape off the burnt parts ... $36. And we were there at the start of the evening...took 45 minutes to get dinner even though there were probably less than 25 customers...we were the second group of customers.
Very disappointing
The food quality was not in the same level as the price. The food was really bad.
Been many times, this was NOT Mahina at it's best for sure.....
Seemed in between. Not as good as finer dining on the mainland but not as soulful as some of the Oahu places like Tonkatsu Tamafuji or Marukame Udon at half the price.
The service was beyond terrible. Food came out at different times with some party members eating 1.5 hours between the others. The last dish never came. Server was haphazardly apologetic. Food was subpar at best. Avoid at all costs.
There was a silent disco and pool movies going which added to the experience. The four of us all felt the food was very bland and just marginal. It was quite expensive for the quality.
Fish hard overcooked cold, couldn’t even cut it with the knife given. Steak knife would have been better. Could not taste the sumac at all. Naked pig pizza little topping and less taste. Margarita soggy - kids thought it was terrible. Rigatoni was “OK”. Wine overpriced for what it was.
Was looking forward to this and we were bitterly disappointed. Not worth it at all - even at half the price would not recommend it.
