We were sat at table against a railing fronting the hotel pool. Not great ambiance but thankfully no kids were in the pool.

Great setting, with the open plan Restarant abutting the pool and a projection screen onto the side of the building showing a James Bond movie (subtitles only). A one man band was playing catchy and original renditions of 90s RnB.

The food was great (monchong fish), and cocktails well balanced and creative. Great staff and bartender. Highly recommend!

The service was wonderful as the waitress was very attentive!
The food was good, but not great. As with everything in Honolulu, the food is very expensive!

Very quiet, with some live music for part of dinner.
Nice, low key place to dine.

What an awesome surprise! A friend recommended this place and we were blown away by the flavors and how well everything went together. Cocktail of the day was local rum coconut and lime concoction that was refreshingly NOT sweet, with complex flavors. Such a great beverage to relax with while enjoying the great live music.

The flash fried Ehu was delicious, as were the sides, and the dipping sauces for the fish complimented the sides as well. The meringue with tropical fruits was a perfect dessert, as the acid flavors of the fruits and lightness of the meringue were a great, light and refreshing end to the flavorful entree and sides. A really well thought out “family feast”.

Our server was terrific, and if Liz ever recommends something food-related, you’d be a fool not to listen! She has a lot of restaurant and culinary knowledge and was very friendly and very helpful.

Will definitely be back!

The setting is in a retro style boutique hotel and you feel like you are in the 50/60’s in Waikiki. Food and service were outstanding! Handmade cocktails were right on the mark, starters and dinner delicious! So glad we made the trek from The Kahala Hotel (East Honolulu) for the treat of a place! A must do while in Honolulu/Waikiki!!!

The food was combined of Chinese, Korean and Japanese not Hawaiian food. We ordered the food which was pulled on their website. We’re surprised at the check given to us. Too expensive! We can’t recommend here to anyone since a bad cost-performance.

Excellent food and service. Nice setting. We had the Mahina Family Feast, which included a whole lightly fried snapper and wonderful, unique appetizers, sides and dessert. Highly recommend. Everything was fresh and prepared and presented beautifully.

Fun service, very fresh, light tasting food. Unique menu and something for everyone. Ambience a bit lacking tho live music is nice. Overall excellent and we’ll be back.

The octopus salad lacked acidity. The fish dishes , although cooked well and each with an associated broth, lacked in taste. Veggies were cut too big and course and there was no finesse to the dishes. The “elevated home cooking” Was really appealing but it could have used salt and pepper. Unfortunately, both Monchong and the Opah failed where they should not have.

We opted for the family feast and it was AMAZING. They were gluten free friendly - the fish was the freshest most flavorful, moist and flaky oh god i'm drooling just thinking about it again! Loved the traditional hawaiian sides as well.
We happened to be there on Valentine's day - also known as - the thursday before presidents day weekend and they head beautiful roses for ladies :)

Three of us split the ahi tartare, pa'i'ai, grilled he'e/watercress salad, arugula pizza, and a couple of desserts. Everything tasted fresh. The GM came over and introduced herself. Our server, back server, and busser were all very well informed and attentive. It was pricey (but Chef Ed Kenney's stuff always is), but definitely worth the visit. I like that they now have a punch card program!

Wow! We ordered the Mahina Family Feast. A huge whole fish deep-fried in a lite batter accompanied with an amazing amount of side dishes including unique local vegetables (Ulu?). It was quite dramatic arriving at table and absolutely delish. Service was amazingly thoughtful and sincere. The space has a Hawaii-style mid-century vibe. No parking, valet only.

We were there for brunch on a Sunday! The menu was limited but what we had was delicious! It’s like stepping back to the 1960s with the retro furnishings and veterans pool! I felt like we would see Connie Francis come around the corner at any minute singing “Where the Boys Are!”

Reservations recommended for dinner. We had a reservation and was sat as soon as we checked in. The service was quick and the server was very knowledgeable of everything they offered. I had the kunoa strip loin. It was cooked perfectly and came with potatoes and vegetables. I definitely will be returning!

The fish was great and reasonably priced as it was in other visits. The Happy Hour is reasonable for Waikiki, but is not a real discount on wine and beer. The one issue that I would mention is that if you charge the bill to a credit card it gets coded as a hotel charge not a restaurant charge. Therefore, if you get bonus points on your credit card for restaurant and not hotel charges you get disappointed. It is a restaurant and a good one, so it should be coded as a restaurant.

We shared the group meal and it was mostly good but the whole fish was crusted and fried. We found it was a little dry and overdone which was a shame given the occasion and price. It was also quite cold inside from the air conditioning. We were expecting something a little more open air given the description so we did not bring warm sweaters.
