We have eaten at Madeo Ristorante often and we are never disappointed. One of the best restaurants in Los Angeles and has been for over 25 years.

Wonderful restaurant. Very friendly owner engages with many of his patrons. Friendly and excellent service. The food is exceptional. We will definitely be dining here again.

I was extremely please with this establishment from the moment I stepped foot in this place. The food was amazing, we shared the spinach ravioli and the Madeo Penne...both were delicious. We had apps, drinks, entrees, dessert and everything was great. The service is outstanding...I would guess that every table has 2 attendants to help you...never an empty plate left on our table or an empty glass. The owner walked around to make sure everyone was happy and his son did the same....with a sense of humor. I will for sure go back the next time I am in town. Oh, and Sylvester Stallone was sitting at the table next to us!

The food is the best Italian in the US! It is fabulous, but comes with a high price tag. It's very expensive.
The service could be better with some of the waiters. Some are more friendly than others. Overall, it is a must in LA.

Such a great place to go to for a special occasion. Having lived in Rome for 6 months I can honestly say this place is so authentic! The pasta is perfectly al dente. I say special occasion because an appetizer two pastas dessert and a glass of wine sets you back like $150 but it's totally worth it for the quality of food the excellent service and the all around authentic feel of Italy. The waitstaff are incredible and the owner comes to talk to you to make sure everything is okay. Seriously come here if you are missing that Italian meal you once had on your vacation in Italy. I'll be back

Not our first time at Madeo, and it certainly won't be our last. Excellent food: dover sole, sea bass, heavenly sauce on the homemade meatballs...the sauce could be bottled as a "spread on -- lick off" aphrodisiac. Warm service, attentive without being intrusive. One of the best in L.A.

I took my girlfriend to Madeo's for her birthday and it felt like my birthday too. Our service was amazing and not only did our waiter take amazing care of us, the owner came out and introduced himself and his son who is the Manager. We both felt extremely pampered. The food was very tasty and authentic. We would definitely go back for another special occasion as our budget is limited. Worth the money if you are big on good service and authentic Italian food!

The food is what I expected. I had a ravioli with veal and walnut that was incredible. For dessert I had a white chocolate tiramisu that was perfection. The texture was so light and fluffy.

Why get something quotidian when you can try what only a high-end, authentic place offers?
I tend to shy from tripe but our waiter Luigi assured us and I gave the Florentine tripe a try, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it delicious with soft texture. We also got soft-shell crab spaghetti and spaghetti with sea bass roe. The savory but robust flavor of the roe just blooms in the mouth, yet it was good that we got the sweeter soft-shell crab spaghetti to balance it out. Then my darling mille fuielle cake - The thin, delicate leaves of pastry dusted with powdered sugar smelled so heavenly of butter - and the sweet cream that hugged the layers disappeared upon contact with the tongue. Signore mio!

This restaurant was fantastic. Not what I expected at all from Hollywood. It had a dark, cosy feel to it. The tables are extremely close but due to the noise level in there, you don't feel uncomfortable. Food was exceptional and service exactly as you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. The paparazzi out the front make you feel so famous, even though clearly I'm not :) All in all, a wonderful night out with my husband. Definately recommend it to anyone looking for that something special. I will definately be back!

Expectations were high but overall experience was fair. I will just stick with the pasta dishes next time- the Risotto Porcini and Spaghetti Bolognese - were very good but other dishes such as Branzino Griglia, Burrata Pizza and many of the apetizers were below par.
The deserts - like Napoleon- were great.

Food is very average for this kind of price-ranged dining establishment. Perhaps 10 years ago it was a gem, now it is trailing behind virtually ALL the A and B list restaurants in West Hollywood. The place still smells like it was a smoke friendly place for years and it needed new furnitures and carpet. A remodel is much needed.

Went for lunch on a weekday for a business meeting and as always, Madeo did not disappoint. The pasta is perfectly cooked and sauces are perfectly rich. The service is second to none and I go especially for the spaghetti. I'm the type of person who won't typically order spaghetti because I make it so frequently (and deliciously) at home but after you try the pasta at Madeo, you can't help but go just for the pasta! One of the people in our party also ordered the gnocchi but the spaghetti was better. Someone also asked for "the best fish, any fish, in the kitchen" and they brought out a white fish with grilled veggies...very fresh and tasty. We also had the calamari which was good, but a little difficult to share/eat. Worth every penny! :)

My daughter said the pasta sauce "Rocked her World". I thought the service was amazing. I was a few minutes late and they never rushed me yet there were lines of people trying to get in to the place. The manager was visible, the waiters were all fantastic. I have never seen a place that worked the room so well.

This is my second time to Madeo and they remembered me which definitely made a big difference in my overall treatment. It's very Italian in that your first time there you probably will receive mediocre service, but once you return you receive better tables with better service. However, the food this time around was just so-so. We got the simple spinach stuffed pasta with a basil cream sauce. It was nice and very mild. Nothing too special.

It certainly doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, you wouldn't know it was a restaurant since its below ground and the only sign is a tarp that reads "Madeo". The actual restaurant is drab and uninspired...definitely in need of a sprucing up. The service was far below what I expected. The host and waitstaff were inattentive and rather brusque. Unless you speak italian, they probably won't be friendly. The negatives aside, the food was extraordinary. Loved it! I had the eggplant parmigiana appetizer, which was a great tasting portion that was extremely tasty though not too rich. For my entree I had the rigatone with parmesean and eggplant, which was literally the best pasta I have ever had. And their ample breads are excellent

LOVED IT! made reservation for my hubbies bday and it was reallly nice! the only thing didnt like about it was we made the rec @ 10 got there like 10 min before and had to wait another 40 min or so but meet and took a pic w/ Alec Baldwin so overall i guess it was worth it!! ;)) and the food NO COMPLAINS really awesome and everyone wrkin there soo were nice and over the phone told them to bring a desert with candle and sing and they did loved it would tell anyone to goo! i will defiantly goo again! and pricey?? NO WAY its noormal anyother nice place its same or more i though it was really worth it!

The food was outstanding! My guests said it was the best they ever had! One had the strip steak. One had the "fish soup" with calamari, shrimp, etc. A fabulous dining experience.

We went here Halloween night just before heading out to the Halloween Parade nearby. The food was well done, albeit a tad on the expensive side for what you were getting. The gnocchi plate initially looked like just a moderate portion, but the sauce was so creamy that it was actually quite filling. My wife got the seafood soup/stew, which was also quite good. Service was quite good and attentive, although for some reason I just felt like there was some sort of je ne sais quoi that kept this restaurant from being great IMHO. Maybe I was expecting....more...

Delightful experience. The service was exceptional - was not expecting such friendly service but everyone made us feel like we truly "belonged" at this restaurant which was full of regular diners that the staff obviously knew very well. The food was good to very good but the energetic atmosphere and the wonderful hospitality made it a very memorable dining experience. We will definitely return on our next trip to LA.

This place was wonderful. The food was better than expected. I had read other reviews that complained about the portion size for the price but we were not disappointed at all. I would say the portions were smaller than normal but we left there very full. We did see a movie star there and the paparazzi were waiting outside when we left.The owner stopped by every table and was very pleasant. I would say this was the best place we ate in Los Angeles.

The food was nice and the restaurant was intimate without being boring. Pretty classic old school Italian. Good quality but a little pricey for what it was.

Only real complaint was that we had to wait almost 30 minutes past the time of our reservation to be seated.

One of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Food is always amazing and the service impeccable. Its hard to pass up my favorite menu item, veal ravioli with walnut sauce, but this trip we had to try the special pasta with fresh soft shell crab. We were not disappointed. The veal chop with butter sauce and sage is the best I've ever had. Can't say enough good things about the wait staff, they are very attentive without hovering.

As always, Madeo was a treat, especially the friendly wait staff and the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. They whipped up a fresh pasta with black truffles for me that was not on the menu and it was a luscious accompaniment to the Osso Buco I had as a main dish. There are other restaurants that will do the dish for me, but none with the pasta so fresh and light as Madeo. I took my two sisters after an evening with Mandy Patinkin and Patty Lupone and it was the perfect compliment. Madeo is a taste of old Hollywood and always a pleasure.

THe food was very good but very pricey. I know that this is a hot spot...but it is way toooooo pricey. Take me to any of the Drago Restaurants instead.( they are all on open table also.) The food is as good or better and the prices more realistic. Lunch for 3 was $165.00. We had no liqour. Just 2 appetizers, a salad, 2 entrees, an ice tea and 2 bottles of sparking water. That is ridiculous.
