The history of this building has ranged from a bonded warehouse to a butter merchants and now we bring you Forty-Four. The history of this vibrant restaurant is evident in the industrialised interior, from the exposed brick work to the metal beams dating back to the last century.

We had a lovely meal, the pre theatre menu was great value and the main menu had lots of great options, it was difficult to decide what to have. There are great vegetarian and gluten free options too. The food was fantastic, great service and it was a relaxing atmosphere. We will be coming back!

The Jailhouse

Long thought to be the building where our entries namesake was held as a prisoner before being hung in Cornmaket, The Jailhouse as it is now known has been frozen in time for the last 70 years nearly forgotten about completely. Restored as part of the Joys Entry project, the aim was to keep as much of the original character of the building as possible. Brick walls, inscribed beams and original windows, take a closer look and see what history and tales you can find while you sip on tipples and nibble on rations. Time Served Well.

From we sat foot in the Hilton we were greeted very warmly by staff some of them still quite young which was very refreshing, the food was lovely but the soup although very flavoursome was too thin and more like milk, so a bit more texture would have been better. Ambience was amazing
