About

This restaurant is permanently closed. As a young boy, Charlie was taught the secrets of his grandmother Lillie´s special sauces. Years later, these unique blends and three generations of southern-style barbeque mastery has netted Chef Charlie numerous national awards including Winner of the coveted Memphis-In-May World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest.

Chef McKenna opened the doors of Lillie´s Q in July 2010 after honing his skills at top restaurants in Miami, New York and Chicago. Named for his Grandmother Lillie, who taught him the art of southern cooking back home in Greenville, SC, Lillie´s Q serves up award winning barbeque in a contemporary setting. The menu offers elevated southern favorites and sides like shrimp & grits, low country boil, fried pickles, boiled peanuts, Brunswick stew, baked beans, and Grandma Lillie´s famous banana pudding. Lillie´s Q bar features all-American craft beers, plus specialty moonshine-based cocktails and the Lillie´s Q version of the traditional Bloody Ma

What a lovely location, welcoming ambience, excellent friendly service, tasty cocktails... But the quality of the actual food was not up to standard. The meat in particular was rather off: I ordered the brisket and nearly 80% of the serving was inedible, pure fat and gristle. My companion had pulled pork so I ate some of that or I would have had next to no protein. The sides were okay, too much bacon on everything! Biscuits were tasty. Such nice folks and a great ambience, very interesting menu, but the level of quality of the food itself should be raised.

Excellent BBQ that's a little different from your typical BBQ fare. Excellent tri-tip. Also has a great option for an entire roasted pig that is suitable for large groups (10+ people).

Service was friendly, though they could use a bit of polishing. Overall, a good dining option, especially if you're in the mood for meat. Also a very nice selection of whiskies and bourbons.

They served a lot of food but the food quality was so-so. The meats were very fatty. It seemed like they used lower quality meats to smoke because of all the fat. Service was friendly & Good.

Ordered the brisket and baby back ribs. The meat, rubs, and the different sauces were excellent. The lettuce in the ample side salad was young and vey good.

We also tried the seasonal strawberry fruit cobbler annd the homemade daily fresh lemonade and neither disappointed. Our waiter told us they use simple syrup with fresh lemons for the lemonade. Would certainly recommend and are looking forward to our next visit.

This was our best experience at Lillie's Q. We all tried the new "choose 3 courses for $24.99". Make sure you are hungry if you go that route. It is a good value (huge amounts of food and a free TAPS beer). The sauce recommendation was to use both the Smoky and the Carolina - fantastic. That was by far my favorite combo. Many liked the spicy Smoky better. Although we were there for the bbq, the sides and dessert were perhaps the hi-lites. If you can believe it, the green beans got the highest thumbs up. Strawberry cobbler won the dessert prize. It was all delicious. I guarantee you will overeat... so get over your guilt for that before you arrive :-).

Specialty is BBQ items, especially ribs. I had the smoked chicken and grits. Both were excellent. You choose the sauce that you want at the table. There are a variety to choose from.

Great place to meet for flavorful BBQ and southern style dishes. Contemporary casual setting. Food was excellent, service with a friendly, casual vibe. Nice beer and spirits selection. Great southern style desserts - loved both the banana pudding and the cobbler a la mode for sharing.

Wasn't as busy as it should be. More people need to find this place!

Really liked Lillie's Q. Brought friends back the following week and they loved it too!

The food was well prepared, and very tasty. We tried about 6 items since it was our first visit to Lillie' Q and they were all delicious. Will definitely come back here and enjoy all the BBQ.

Tried the brisket per the waiters recommendationsand after reassuring us it was lean, when it arrived it was 1/2 fat, needless to say we were very disappointed.
The beers weren't very cold but the atmosphere was to be expected for a BBQ joint, not bad.
It was pricey if you compare it to Lucilles for the amount of food you get.

We had Father's Day Brunch reservations and were seated immediately. Although it is a buffet, you can also order off a limited menu of chef's specials. While our special orders were being prepared, we went through the line, had finished our plates, and were STILL waiting for our special orders. We had to flag down the waiter. He had apparently forgotten to keep tabs on our orders, and claimed someone else had taken them. So we resubmitted our orders and after waiting AGAIN, we finally had to ask for the manager, who had our orders delivered within 5 minutes. Total time from the original order to delivery to the table was 40 minutes. On a more positive note, they do give generous pours of the champagne (small mason jars) - maybe so you can de-stress while waiting for your order!

Food and service was very good. Sat on the patio for cocktails but the street noise was very loud and we could hardly hear each other. Moved inside for dinner, much better. We felt the cost of food and drinks was on the high side.

We went to the Sunday buffet brunch on May 29 . The main problem is that the carved smoked brisket and smoked turkey were very dry even though this is a BBQ place. They did have 2 very good Tilapia dishes, and the collard greens were also very good. You could also order off a small menu cooked fresh by the kitchen which was nice, but the omelet was a little dry and the eggs benedict was runny and barely cooked.

We went sort of late, they were closing In around a hour so not much going on. Employees were trying to get a jump on cleaning up for the night. The service was good since we were one of two couples eating at the time. Enjoyed the food especially the Mac and Cheese, yummy. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious BBQ! Best in Town. Everything is made in-house. I recommend the Tri-Tip which is tender and smokey. The Memphis Tacos are a great fusion dish with house-made tortillas. The Mac and Cheese is rich and creamy. The service is excellent. Wonderful experience overall.

We had the normal dinner menu for Mother's Day and my mom was very impressed.
Our waiter was kind enough to give us a sample their biscuits and butter which was very good and I might order them next time! The meat was tender and tasty. For dessert we shared the strawberry cobbler and it was excellent. We never had strawberry cobbler before and we both loved it. The cobbler came out steaming hot with vanilla ice cream, it was a good ending to my mom's Mother's Day meal.

I took my family for the Mother's Day Brunch. I saw Lillie Q as a recommended spot in the OC Register paper a few days before Mother's Day. For the price of $29/person, the value was fair. The quality of the buffet was not that great. I ordered a steak and eggs off the menu and it was not good at all, the portion was the size of my hand and the steak was mediocre. The mimosas were not prepared with care, some had too much champagne and hardly had any OJ, yet some were the opposite in consistency. The experience was not what I had expected given what I had read in the OC Register. As a first time patron, I will not be taking my family back to this establishment. I was hoping the brunch would get better, but it never happened.

We went to Lillie's Q because it was recommended in the OC Register. They raved about the smoked brisket and the smoked fried chicken. We had a 6:30 reservation and they were already out of the brisket. (They gave us a discount on the bill because of that) The smoked fried chicken, the tri-tip and the ribs were good, the oysters were great and the pulled pork was excellent. Some of the side dishes were awful. We sent the collard greens back and got green beans which were also almost inedible. How do you wreck green beans? The sweet potato fries were good, but the cold slaw was just ok. The service was very slow. Bottom line, come for the BBQ but don't expect a lot from the sides. They had an excellent bourbon and whiskey menu, and the waiter was helpful in selecting a great option.

We headed to our first Lillie Q's experience on a Sunday at noon, which gave us the option of the brunch buffet. We went with the regular menu, each getting a "2 meats, 2 sides" dish. Everything - all of it - was delicious. A few bites in we looked at each other and said "We're definitely coming back and bringing folks." Service was good, atmosphere is casual, felt priced right for the quality and quantity. Parking is a bear, but that's just the way it is where a host of good restaurants get located. Overall, completely pleased and lived up to the hype.

The food is tremendous! I am a BBQ snob and have a hard time finding good BBQ in SoCal and Lilly Q's is right at the top in Orange County. There were four of us and we did two 3-meat plates to try everything. The brisket and ribs were excellent. The rest was good, but the brisket was really at another level.

Must order the grits, that is the best side at Lilly Qs bar none.

I love that they have pimento cheese too, and Lilly Qs has a great one. They used to serve it in a skillet as an appetizer. That used to be my favorite reason to visit, but I did not see it on the menu on my last visit. That was disappointing. But it is still available in a smaller portion with other items so I was happy to still taste it.

Overall, 5 stars. Love Lilly Qs!

Great place for a Sunday Brunch. Carving station with Smoked Brisket ,Ham , and Turkey.
Lots of choices like greens, beans, salads, fruits, desserts, chocolate fountain, etc.
Endless champagne mimosas and other drink choices.
Chef Cody even showed my friend and myself the smoker in the kitchen.
Very enjoyable.

The food was decent, I didn't like the coleslaw it has a strange taste to it. But the service was extremely slow. There was only one other table besides mine occupied, so the place was essentially empty, still it took forever to get someone to come to our table and then had to wait again to place our order and then took forever to get our food. Because of this I was very dissatisfied.

my family and I went to lillie's for the first time. at the conclusion of our dinner, my husband took my oldest child and went out the back door (where there's an outdoor patio for seating). I followed with my 2- year-old son. my husband was holding the door open for us and I see a rude patron yelling at him repeatedly to "SHUT THE DOOR!", "IT'S COLD IN HERE!" my husband was explaining that he was holding the door open for me and my son but she kept yelling to "SHUT THE DOOR!" needless to say, some choice words were said and we left disgusted and heated that a) grown adults like that exist and behave that way in public but also that b) none of the staff intervened or felt the need to tell the rude redheaded woman that the door opens frequently or move her family. at any rate, the food itself was satisfying, but our overall dining experience was not.

Came for Restaurant Week....maybe we shouldn't have done the "discount" meal. Overly salty appetizers (fried pickles and deviled eggs). Lukewarm meat (ribs and brisket). Messy looking (and to go along, not so great tasting) pulled pork tacos. Multiple sauces to choose from, none of which were described to us as first time customers (our waiter said he would describe them to us when our meat came out but never came back to our table to go over the sauces). Cornbread and baked beans as sides subpar. And how do you mess up banana pudding and fruit cobbler? No part of the meal was satisfying. Our waiter wasn't even the one to bring us our food nor came by to ask us how we were doing at any point in time. Sorry, will never return to this establishment nor recommend to friends.

This is my 3rd visit here, dinner, whole hog and now brunch. All have been amazing. But brunch and whole hog are the winners. Brunch is 25.99 for amazing bbq food and all you can drink mimosas. Grits, collards, turkey breast were the favs. Mini banana pudding and chocolate fountain. In addition to the buffet and carving stations they have about 6 items you can order direct from the kitchen. It did get pretty busy so consider a reservation.
