Love Houma’s House beautiful and special in every way!
Something happened toward the middle to end of the meal and the server basically disappeared on us - had to track down to close out our tab. We will go back because we love the place hopefully extenuating circumstance.
We visited for our anniversary. The restaurant is cozy and romantic and the service was excellent. The food and drinks were also excellent for the most part. My one complaint with the food was my entree, a pan seared red snapper that was overcooked and tough. My only other complaint about the evening was that despite noting when making my reservation through open table that it was an anniversary meal, this was not observed by the restaurant or the server while the anniversary of another couple in the dining room was (who apparently received a bottle of wine in honor of the event). These things happen, though, and we still enjoyed the restaurant very much.
Absolutely fantastic meal and experience. Highly recommend!
Everything was wonderful. Need better directions to the restaurant once on the property.
Birthday. See private note below.
Amazing meal- every dish was something we’ve never had before- and every bite delicious. Service by Josh was exceptional- and bravo to Chef Jeremy
Had the Valentine's Day menu and everything was extremely well prepared and delicious. A little expensive, but surely worth it. Ambiance around the whole plantation, restaurant, and Turtle Bar was very romantic and elegant. Would definitely recommend.
Awesome!!!!! The best.
Valentines Dinner.
Cant say it was bad but they definitely oversold the meal.
This restaurant is normally wonderful.
Have been to lunch and dinner several times and was always extremely pleased. This visit ...
First problem is because of the oversell they had set up tables in less desirable locations than the actual restaurant.
We ate at a temporary tap Le in the front parlor. Not bad but not Latils landing which is what I booked and confirmed way in advance.
The food was below par as well. The base and the ingredients in the gumbo were excellent. Unfortunately they were overwhelmed by a heavy handed dollop of heat.
The subtle blend of quality ingredients was hidden in pepper.
The crab cake appetizer was flat out superb. It doesn’t get any better.
The lobster risotto was a generous portion of fried lobster tails over a bed of well prepared risotto.
We ordered our filet medium rare. It was small and delivered
closer to medium. Wasn’t bad (especially since the price for the meal was extremely reasonable) but it wasn’t the quality one is used to having at Latina landing.
The fingerling potatoes and carrots were perfectly cooked and an excellent accompaniment.
We ordered bread pudding and red velvet cheesecake for dessert. Both were uniquely prepared and frankly sublime.
We enjoyed our meal but will avoid Latils for holiday occasions in the future.
Best tasting, tenderest filet ever. Fantastic Valentines evening.
Great Valentines meal
Everything thing was outstanding. I love the restaurant. Great service!! Amazing food!!
It was a fantastic dinner. Will definitely return.
Great Ambiance.
Overall experience was below expectations.
My main complaint is that because I had never been to Latil's before, I went on the website the day of my visit and looked at the menu (clicked on the menu button) and had in my mind what I would order and what the price would be ($65). Upon arriving, there was a menu on the table and it was not the menu I had looked at on the website, about 30 minutes prior to leaving my house. I asked the waiter about this and he said it was a special event (day before Valentine's day; a Thursday) and that this was on the website. When I got home I went back to the website and there was a tab that said upcoming events. When I opened this tab, I saw the Valentine's Day menu. So, instead of $65 per person, my meal was $95 per person for not nearly as much of a selection of menu items. The food was better than average and the atmosphere was really nice. Our waiter was excellent.
Again a great menu. The new Ravioli was great, crawfish pumpkin soup was great, lamb chops were to die for. Wife’s trout was delicious.
The only thing that did not match our taste buds was the Granny Smith Apple pie.
Great experience in a beautiful setting.
Very nice experience in a wonderful atmosphere
Food excellent
Dessert can be improved
But overall a must experience
The restaurant is located on the beautiful grounds at Houmas House. It’s a magical experience to enhance any occasion. The food is outstanding as is the service. LOVE THIS PLACE!
Absolutely fantastic-- Latil’s Landing and the Turtle Bar are precious Louisiana treasures!
We spent Christmas Eve night at Houmas House. We drove down Friday m Baton Rouge. The weather was perfect. The entire place was beautifully and tenderly decorated with a fabulous whimsy. We slowly walked the grounds taking pictures and talking with other holiday revelers. Then we stopped in the Turtle Bar for a couple rounds of French 75s. Then strolled around the live oaks and fountain to the entrance to Latil’s at the main house. We ate upstairs next to a fireplace at a lovely table. A Prix Fixe menu of 3 or 5 courses with or without wine pairings. My wife did 3 and I did the 5. Boudin ravioli with foie gras. Oh my. Curried pumpkin crawfish and corn soup. Again, wow. Lump crab on house made mozzarella and tomatoes, perfect. Sorbet course of cranberry. Then I had the rack of lamb with blackberry coulis and sweet potato purée. My wife the Wagu filet (which was astounding). Wine pairings were perfect. Gently getting to know the other guests, and the really sweet and informed staff made the evening very special. The desserts were a bit heavy and large. Given Christmas Eve we would have liked something a little lighter after a big dinner. Maybe perfect Christmas cookies or similar treats would have been great. But this is a very small criticism. We think we discovered a new annual tradition. Then afterwards we strolled the gardens in all the lights and decor back to our car. Wonderful evening.
They were so helpful and gracious! Dinner was perfect and the food delicious! It’s where we were married and returning for our anniversary was very special to us! We live it here!!!!
My wife and I selected Latil's to celebrate our 28th Anniversary from recommendations of this being the perfect romantic dinner. The ambience, service, and food were exquisite. Unfortunately the dining areas are intimate and not meant for a large rowdy, obnoxious party of eight place amongst couples trying to have a romantic dinner. My wife and were not able to carry on a conversation due to the noise, we basically sat and smiled at each other for two hours.
Beautiful location, great service, great food. Never been disappointed. It is pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.
Very romantic and a wonderful experience. Food is delicious.
Hubby great for special occasions. Definitely recommend the restaurant!
Great location, fantastic wine, and typically a wonderful menu.
Another exceptional meal at Latil’s. Food was delicious and the wine is very fairly priced. We did the 3 course and bought a bottle off their list. We will be back again soon.
First let me say that the food was wonderful. Crawfish pumpkin soup, crab and beet salad, foie gras, lamb chops and a coconut chocolate dessert were outstanding. Deliver of the food was on time and at great intervals. Almost a perfect night.
When we arrived, there were six people at three tables. Our waiter handled the tables without anyone feeling left out. As the night progressed, more tables were occupied. We dined over a period of two hours or so. The last thirty minutes, the waiter was overloaded with tables. Visits to our table were far apart. We had a ten minute wait for the check.
This was a Friday night, so we expected a few extra diners. A place like Latils Landing should be able to handle this without inconveniencing the diners.
This is a wonderful place to dine and I will not allow this one inconvenience to stop me from returning for great meals. Love this place. Keep up the great food Jeremy.
Anniversary
It was our 30th wedding anniversary. We had dinner. The food was amazing , the atmosphere was wonderful and our server was the nicest lady. We really enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend eating there.
Good fun! Old school place with lots of history and food was excellent.
Wonderful as always! We celebrated our anniversary and it was perfect!
Took my family of five for a great dinner. Was not disappointed. Salads, steaks, lamb chops, pumpkin curry soup, bread pudding, chocolate mousse, all were great. Price was good, food was great. Timing on food delivery was a little off. Two hours and forty five minutes for four course dinner. We enjoyed our conversations, but the drive home was late. Just one of those nights I guess. Will I go back, heck yes. I would stand in line for that food. If you have never been, you need to try it.
5 course or 3 course. Perfect setting. Beautiful grounds. Delicious.
We have some experience with fine dining, but this was our first time at Latil’s Landing. We chose it to celebrate our anniversary and try something new to us. That was a good decision. The cuisine is as high quality and well prepared as any we’ve had, the service was perfect—extremely helpful and friendly, but unobtrusive. The setting is beautiful, and the dining space is personal and quiet. With one experience, it’s already our favorite restaurant in southern Louisiana, which has no shortage of fabulous restaurants. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful surroundings and good service.
Awesome dining experience!!! Best food and atmosphere and not overly priced.
This is one of our favorite date night restaurants!! The food was outstanding as usual!!
Fantastic experience. Service and food were flawless. I recommend trying out the Turtle Bar when visiting the property.
