This was my second time at this restaurant, but in a completely different seating area, by a wall of toucans. Luis was our server this evening and made the experience memorable. He was very attentive and offered wonderful recommendations for drinks, apps, and entrees. I had a delightful rose paired with a rich, buttery Japanese Hamachi for my entree. The calamari for the apps had a wonderful crunch, with a chewy inside, without being too greasy! Dessert was heavenly with a boozy cookies and cream milkshake. Will definitely be coming back!

Old Ebbitt doesn't disappoint for service and ambience - old DC politico haunt but mostly full of tourist families now. The food was good but not outstanding. My fresh oysters were plump and fresh and briny. My companions steak was cooked to order, rare. My trout was over-crusted with a heavy coating, leaving not much room for the fish itself to shine - and the fish was just this side of overcooked. Given the history of the place it's worth a stop. Just not good enough to warrant 5 stars.

Every dish we had was absolutely delicious. The ingredients are so fresh and the spices are so tasty that you really appreciate how their food is made. The ambience is very fun and beautiful. The noise level started out OK and then got a little bit loud about an hour after we were there. But we are extra sensitive to noise. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food, the kindness of the wait staff & the host and the ambience.
