In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

    Excellent food! So fresh! Ample servings. Mexican shrimp cocktail had so many shrimp in it you could have it as a meal. Nachos were out of this world!

    We loved the special Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer. This should be added to the permanent menu. The Shrimp Cocktail was also fantastic. So far, the Waterfront Sampler is my favorite dish here. It comes with fried redfish, softshell crab, and shrimp. The redfish came out a little too dry, but that was solved by requesting some of their spicy mayo and tartar sauce. I think the breading on the softshell crab is too grainy, and would be much better with a light tempura batter. But that's just my humble opinion. The mixed drinks here are always perfect. It's a great seafood hangout, and has become one of our favorite dining locations in Galveston.

    Really great food, phenomenal service, great atmosphere. Highly recommend! Salad is huge and more than enough to share. We had oysters, the horseradish was on-point as was migonette. Joel was our waiter and he was a pleasure.
