Taverns have flourished along Santa Ynez’s Sagunto Street since 1906. Sixty years ago, four busy bars entertained the locals and visitors alike. These establishments were named Last Chance, the Bum Steer, Parker’s and the Maverick Saloon. While three of the four original taverns have since disappeared into history, the legendary Maverick Saloon is still going strong and continues to be a staple in the Santa Ynez valley. In 1963, Jerry and Diane Thompson bought nine bare lots from publisher tycoon Hastings Harcourt. Plans were drawn up for a museum, restaurant, two-story hotel and the Maverick Saloon, which is named after a TV series starring James Garner. A few years later (approx. 1968) the barn was built next to the saloon. To achieve an antique look, the Thompsons used materials salvaged from demolished Victorian houses. The barn’s history began as the “Lulubelle’s Restaurant” and a tool rental facility. The barn and dancehall became a permanent part of the Maverick Salo

We had the best meal, wine and service---super impressed with the quality of food. The wine selections that the Som helped us with and our server was professional with a personality. It was our daughters birthday and she is Vegan --there were some delicious options for her and that was awesome too. We've been to SY Kitchen before but I feel like it they've really stepped it up in all aspects. Great evening

If in the area, go here. The food was amazing. The halibut was perfectly cooked and served in a delicious citrus sauce. The chicken was also perfectly cooked and while simple, so flavorful. The wine list was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for a nice dinner and conversation.

Was a fabulous experience. The wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary. We made reservations, and arrived on time and were seated immediately. We realized, reservations weren’t necessary on a Wednesday but I wasn’t gonna chance it. The service was top notch and the food was impeccable. The dress code says “Business Casual” however, being in a casino there were people there in shorts and tee shirts. I don’t think they really care about the dress code. They did read the reservation from Open table and we got a dessert that said “Happy Anniversary “. That was a nice finishing touch. Overall, a really nice time and really good dinner.
