Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous Fried Chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

In a distant European city, Fabian and Miriam vanished into the Alps, trading their city lives for mountain solitude. Once busy young professionals, their days were consumed by demanding careers, their rare weekends cherished for dining out and dancing, occasionally venturing into the mountains. But destiny intervened when Miriam inherited her grandfather's Alpine hut, nestled amidst the rustic charms of the mountains. They cut ties with the city, forsaking it for good. Days were spent farming, foraging, crafting cheese, and making wine. Nights brought cooking, baking, wine-drinking, and stargazing.Friends from the city visited, but Fabian and Miriam never looked back. They were drawn deeper into the mountains, caught in the Alpenrausch's dual meaning—the exhilaration of mountain air and the intoxication of good company, fine wine, and schnapps.Come experience Alpenrausch!

We dinned here for the beautiful view! Great place for a special occasion. We went for my grandmothers 70th birthday. They decorated the table with confetti and brought her out a complementary slice of cake. The server we had was extremely friendly but all of the servers and the young man who filled up our waters and took away our plates were confident and kind. I could see this being an enjoyable place to become a regular at. I envision there’s a community at Salty’s! Here’s what we ordered: Focaccia — it was good, sour dough forward but soft. Served with butter though I would have preferred oil and vinegar. Lavender honey smoked salmon salad — this was delicious! The salmon was perfect. With they would have dressed the salad a bit more. But I just asked for a side when I saw it did not looked dressed. Crab Mac & cheese — delicious but rich. I would prefer a touch more salt and a tiny bit more crab then this would be perfect. I wouldn’t suggest this as a whole entree as it’s rich and a bit one note to keep interest until you’re full. Parmesan Crusted Sablefish — this was delicious as well. Hearty and good portion. I didn’t personally eat this so I can’t describe more than the one bite I had. The person I dinned with did say the sauce was lacking in flavor. I think the gnocchi couldn’t have been more flavorful as well. I asked the kitchen to split the salad and the mac and cheese between 2 people to be shared. They happily did so. I was very glad! I would absolutely come here again and plan to bring my out of town guests here as well as try their Sunday brunch sometime soon! Thank you Salty’s team for a great experience!

This was the best meal I've had in Portland in the last 4 or 5 years easily. So many fine dining places these days is all presentation with mediocre food. Or good food, with crappy service. But Laurelhurst Mkt was worth every penny and I can't wait to go back soon!

Some of the best execution on every plate I’ve had in a long time. Probably the best corn fritters I’ve ever had, and same for the clams. The fritters were like biting into a flavorful corn cloud, and just melted, with little pops of whole sweet corn kernels. The clams were delicately cooked, and were just buttery deliciousness in the coconut cream broth. I just want to eat a bowl of the spiciest Sambal (forgive me for not remembering the name of that one…) To deliver at this level on 101 degree day, and every day - year after year is incredible. A+ I’m recommending Gado Gado to everyone.

Helped to go at 4:30 and got seated immediately. Server was wonderful! She took great care of us. Sazeracs were excellent as always. Their green beans in brown butter & sliced almonds was amazing. Of course the fried chicken was tops!! It was 100 degrees so couldn’t sit outside like usual, but very few diners at that time so noise level not what it can be when room is full!
